It was quiet and peaceful...set up chairs and viewed fisherman in distance casting and enjoyed the scenery while periodically reading chapters of book. Pity the picnic tables couldnt have been available at lake level. Still it was nice to have them at parking level. Met only one hiker on the two mile loop around the lake.
Slope is cool for free sledding. All other Ski areas would be too full and have rude people who dont care about others. Find a slope and just walk hard pressing on snow on it for 2-3 times and then start to sled.
What a fun trip this was.A group of friends and I biked the flume trail. It passed through this lake. It was a hot day, so we decided to jump into the lake. To our surprise the water wasnt that cold. So we swam for about 20 min before we decided to continue biking. The lake is big and there are two trials that go around it. It is very serene. You could sit by it and meditate or just appreciate the view. There were quite a few people biking the trials that run by it, but for the most part, you can pull up by the lake and be by yourself or with the group that youre with and just chill.Definitely wanna come back and spend more time there.
Its a great mostly level walk around the lake with lots of different types of trees and vegation! Lots of birds to see and rocks to discover! Plants and flowers were abundant this month for pictures! The kids loved the hike and taking a snack lunch and sitting on the benches along the walk was most enjoyable!
Lovely small lake with a very nice path around it, complete with plenty of memorial benches to rest on and enjoy the scenery.
State park with easy hiking trail around the lake and picnic area in the woods.
Beautifully maintained, easy access. We enjoyed a hike around the lake - well-marked and well-maintained trail - and a picnic. A lovely afternoon!
Took the Lake Loop in January. The trail was a great 2.1 mile hike over easy terrain. We had a snowball fight along the way and enjoyed beautiful scenery. This is a must-see place!
A small gem of a park surrounding a lake. Spectacular aspen fall foliage colors in mid October.
Its a nice 2-mile hike around the lake with lots of park benches along the way to enjoy the scenery. Definitely worth a stop if youre in the area and enjoy more seclusion than nearby Lake Tahoe.
Nice little fishing lake. But it is difficult to fish from the shore without waders. Theres about 10 meters of brush/water plants growing along the shoreline around the entire perimeter of the lake. On the plus side, there is a nice trail around the lake and very few bugs.
Came here with my XC team, and it was an amazing experience. We ran up to Marlette Lake, had fun there, then ran back down. We had lunch and just did all the fun things you can do at a lake in the forest. Also come up here all the time with my family, and we have fun too. Just a great getaway. Thank you.
Beautiful kid and dog friendly hike. Very easy but lots of fun for kids.
A very relaxing and easy hike around the lake.
Great place not crowded at all very peaceful great trails
Really nice hike around the lake.
Beautiful trail system! One of the prettiest hikes Ive done! Trail is marked clearly!
Heres a great place to hike, run, bike.
What a fantastic, kid friendly park
Isolated lake is fabulous! Well off the beaten track. Escape for some solitude and earn your views. Gorgeous location and a must see
Great place for a picnic without the crowds of Tahoe, yet with the same pristine beauty.
Easy-peasy family-friendly hike around the lake.
$10 per car with two main parking lots. Flush toilets between parking lots. One loop trail around Spooner Lake. Another trail leads you to the Flume bike trail and to Marlette Lake. Aspen groves were ablaze with fall colors when I was there.
Great spot for the family, tons of wildlife. Youll see a lot of fisherman.
The ranger Booth was open and when you buy access to One Park you can use it at all other Nevada state parks... I did not know that
Great terrain for mountain biking and hiking. Not too busy
Level trail around the lake a meadow with flowers. Nice shady picnic area.
Easy hike and beautiful Aspen Trees in the fall
Marlette Lake trail is beautiful. One of the most beautiful trails and scenery.
Its beautiful any time of the year.
Stopped and did the 2 mile trail.. good for kiddos... and people out of shape like me!
Beautiful place and dogs allowed :)
Easy access. Nice trails.
Grest place to have lunch and take a break from driving around Lake Tahoe.
A good break from isolation, smoke, and intense heat. Water is lower right now but still nice.
Nice place to calm down.
Had a great time taking in the scenery and hiking around the lake. Lots of wildlife to see and trails to hike.
Relaxing and leisurely walk or bike ride around beautiful lake. Looking for a challenge? Take North Canyon Trail to Marlette Lake and prepare for a challenging workout but even more isolated forest beauty and lake views.
Cool area to check out
Had to pay $10 to enter the State Park (for parking) and then found out that some of the trails were closed. We hiked up to the start of the Flume Trail taking the Marlette Creek Trail and an unmarked trail off that that goes back to Marlette lake. Made a nice loop hike. We were hoping to see the tree color but even though most of the Aspens hadnt turned yellow yet it was still pretty.
Great hour of hiking for us and kids. Just beautiful, well kept, not too busy.
I love hiking and snowshoeing here! Its a nice, short trail. I recommend visiting at different times of year to view different wildlife, snow, and leaves changing.
Hiked the trail around the lake with snowshoes. Beautiful, peaceful, loved it.
Not as crowded as other places in Lake Tahoe. Some people go there fishing. You can also see birds and lizards there.
Great short walk. Good trail. Wildlife. Flowers.
It sucked too much algee, you need a Kayak
Really cool quiet spot to while away some time. Lots of walking and biking trails. $10 fee to park near the lake. There is tight arse I dont want to pay my way through life to protect parks parking up near the highway within walking distance of the lake. Wonderful autumn (fall) colours. Some good opportunities for wildlife images but the locals are skittish so youll need a hide or a long lens or both.
Amazing place to take landscapes and wildlife photographs! Photo around every ben. Tip thou, take some mosquito repellent, in summertime! Here is a bench view of lake. Also cost $10.00 to enter lake. Think $2.00 discount if you live in Nevada.
Love this trail super easy and dog friendly
First time, enjoyed taking the 2.5 mile loop around lake. The Aspen trees will be gorgeous to see in the fall. Unfortunately there is no swimming. Signs are posted about leeches in the water.
Great mountain bike and picnic spot
It has a nice walk around the lake. Not incredible or anything but it is a relaxing walk. Wouldnt consider it a hike by any means.
$10.00 to park, too.....You know what....
Gorgeous views, especially in the winter.
Great place to visit, the lake has leaches and its man made
Great hike with beautiful weather. Nice ranger at kiosk. Trail in perfect condition. Were able to share the trail with some courteous mountain bikers. Will do it again.
Great, love this place!
Paradise. Trail running and MTB to Flume trail overlooking the Lake Tahoe
Such a nice lake, enjoyed our hike around the lake. Beware of the leches....
Such a beautiful place!
Gorgeous. Trout in the lake! Great trails and picnic areas. Smells like pine trees and crisp clean Air.
Perfect place for a winter hike and snowball fight.
Beautiful place!
Very nice place. Hiked a couple years ago, late afternoon. Only took an hour & half. Great late lunch venue/hike/walk. Not sure if there was a fee then. Saw few people, but looked like nice place for daily walk/hike. Went to beach place on way back to South Tahoe for dinner & my motel. Found off beaten path motel in coupon book for under $50 a night.
Such a nice place to hike around. The trees still had color by Spooner but were almost done by marlett.
Loved the hike around this morning always beautiful and new things to observe.
Scenic hiking trails with interesting trees and wildlife.
Nice campgrounds close to the small lake. Easy trails
Beautiful starting point for cross country skiing
Lake frozen and strong wind. BURRRRRRR.
Nice Clean park, pride and care shows. something for everyone. Friendly helpful staff, and reasonable entry fees. Flume trail bikes provides a shuttle service if you want a point to point trail ride or hike. Dogs allowed and welcome. Marlette lake is a must see......
Good to picnic n bbq. Not great for fishing. Nice hiking trails. Some u can take a stroller on.
Cool place. Dont swim here though. Leeches in water
Such a great place for a family hike!
Beautiful setting, gentle walk, many native plants and birds.
Very clean and orderly. Worth the price of admission.
A real near lake ... definitely much smaller then Lake Tahoe but to get away from the supper touristy places in Tahoe is worth checking out!
Worth paying the parking fee, really nice and not too busy
Nice park. I didnt stay here, Mtn bike trail head to Marlet Lake & Flume Trail starts here.
Bring $10 exact change during winter months cause no one will be there to give you change. Its a beautiful lake and a lovely hike
Quoting my 8 year old son best biking ever
This is a great place to wait for sand harbor to open up.
Good place to have a picnic lunch!Awesome views of the lake and surrounding mountains
Good hiking, trail running, XC skiing, and fishing. NOT a swimming lake (leaches). Good bird watching, especially Eagles and Hawks
A beautiful place to stop and enjoy the cool fresh air.
Beautiful location, great biking trail, mosquitoes at dusk are size of vultures. Parking may be hard on weekends in summer.
It was So beautiful and I loved the trails
There is an infestation of leeches in the lake. Avoid going into the water. Stay on the trails. Scenic peaceful area for hiking & picnics. The ranger warns you about the leeches when you enter the park.
Beautiful Park to visit with great. Trails to hike all the way up to marlette lake
Wonderful off the beaten track little picnic, hiking and lake. We tried to get to Tahoe but it was a mad house. Spooner Lake was not busy, it was beautiful and the Ranger was friendly and helpful.
Nice trails for families, pets and exercise!
Great place to pull over, off the main high way, to walk dog or play in the snow for familys. Or snow showing. There is a fee.
