We couldn’t have asked for a better day visiting the Light-house tower today. Cap Canaveral tours Shelly and Karen made it extra special sharing their knowledge about Cap Canaveral History! We then finished off the day with a free Fish Lips Resturant appetizer and a nice salad with a bowl of claim chowder. Conch fritters appetizers was awesome! Thanks!
This was only their 3rd tour since reopening from Covid closures to the base. While a few locations were still not accessible, the tour had more than plenty to fill our time with fascinating history, relics, sites to see. We traveled with 2 kids 8 years old, and they were provided with activity books to keep them engaged while on the bus. The pace was mellow, the nature was lovely, the dynamic between the the guide and driver was humorous. And to cap it off, we had the chance to see a live SpaceX Falcon launch from launch complex 34 which was a moment in our lives we will never forget. Thank you!
What a wonderful day. Our tour guide was very informative and funny. She was a pleasure. We have been wanting to see this lighthouse for quite sometime and realize the only way to do so is through this tour unfortunately. Good news is, during the 4 hour tour and hour of it is spent at the lighthouse. My husband enjoyed the rest of the tour, I found it not so interesting. To each is own. Down side.. The tour bus is not very well air conditioned. It was a terribly hot Florida February day and there really wasnt much relief once you got back on the tour bus. Also the seating in the tour bus is quit a tight fit. And I thought airlines were bad. But they did hand out water for refreshments.
I was incredibly disappointed. We stopped because we knew there was a lighthouse tour. The 2 people who were inside were incredibly short and when I asked about the lighthouse gave me snooty one word answers. I was starting to ask about the tour because I have a child who needs a wheelchair for distance and all I got was attitude and told you have to go on the tour to know more about the lighthouse. So I figured why bother if that is the attitude...I will just leave. The info of whether the bus/van going has wheelchair accessibility and how far the drop off point is from the lighthouse should be in a brochure or posted. Especially since the people working dont even seem like they want to talk to customers.
Very interesting. Had a great time on a field trip with my kids school.
Visiting Canaveral Lighthouse was a delight, despite the rain. Whether you are a visitor or a resident, this historic site is a must see. Our tour guide and the volunteer docents were friendly and knowledgeable. The bus was comfortable, as well, and we were treated to visits to the launch pad used for historic space flights. Time permitting, you may also visit the small museum near the SpaceX offices. Bonus: admission to Exploration Tower is included in the price of the tour. Dont hesitate; book your tour ASAP.
Historic lighthouse. The guide were very informative. Interesting information about the early life in central Florida and the life of caretakers. Nice views from the the 5th floor.
Absolutely wonderful experience. Guide was well versed. Nice day
Exciting historical lighthouse. Docents friendly and informed. Worth the stop.
Nice place and the people were nice
Quick tour, you cant go to the top of it.. just in case you were wondering.
Wonderful historic adventure!
Until recently the public had no access to the lighthouse since its on Cape Canaveral Air Force Station. The Air Force has started allowing tours again. I went with Sunward Tours and really enjoyed it. The cast iron lighthouse is stunning in person. Volunteers tell you all about the history of the lighthouse. Youre only allowed to climb to the 5th floor though.
Great historical lighthouse. I think the phone number might be wrong on this listing as well.
Great local history. Must see
Too pricey
Tour is awesome for space fans!! Tour the launch pads NASA doesnt show you
This is the only lighthouse maintained by the USAF. Unfortunately, the only way to get to it is to sign up for a tour. Fortunately, the tour is well worth the money. It takes you to the lighthouse which is staffed by volunteers and other sites on base. A must do if you love lighthouses and/or early manned space missions. You see the launch pads up close and get to see the Apollo 1 Memorial. Ive also uploaded a picture of the hanger where von Braun worked. It is right next to the lighthouse so he would climb up there to watch the launches.
Unlike every other lighthouse in Florida, this one doesnt let you go to the top
UNFORTUNATELY YOUR PHONE NUMB ER IS WRONG.I AM SICK AND TIRED OF GETTING YOUR PHON CALLS
Great history
Thank you Family Day!!
Guided tour, original lighthouse moved 3 times.
