Very beautiful place, although shorter than I expected. The whole thing could be walked in fifteen minutes, but taking it slow will give you time to traverse and take photos. Great place to walk your dog, kids may enjoy exploring the area. Little fish can be seen swimming in the shallow water, while crickets chirp. Definitely recommend going
Very easy to access. Great place for a classic photo opportunity. Just a 30 second walk from the parking lot.
I love this little nature trail. It’s closed right now though. It appears that tornadoes came through the area and downed a lot of trees. Everything is fenced off.
Absolutely beautiful and a must for the Mississippi adventurer! !!some quick notes though!! 1. The directions are wrong!! The swamp is over 5 miles past where maps takes you, so just pay attention to the mile markers (it is at mile marker 122) 2. It looks like a tornado came through so the swamp has a ton of tree damage at the moment (3/26/20) and the drive off actually says “road closed”
Peaceful, beautiful, not well maintained. 5 stars, just be aware how natural it is
While driving up the Natchez Trace Parkway we decided to stop at Tupelo-Bald Cypress and take a short hike that starts with a bridge through the cypress swamp. We learned quite a lot that day and enjoyed ourselves. Surprisingly it was quite fascinating, quiet, peaceful and beautiful. Be sure to take the time to stop during your travels and take in this little wonder for yourself.
Fantastic little place, mile marker 121. Short and easy stroll around stunning still water. You might be lucky enough to spot some alligators. We went just before sunset and saw 3 enjoying some last minute sun. Well worth stopping by if you have the time!
Really nice walking trail around the swamp. only takes about 20 min to walk it. its a good easy trail to walk.
Very peaceful and pretty. Nice stop en-route to your destination.
Quiet little stroll through a beautiful still water area! Best time to go is in cooler months to avoid mosquitos, but if you wanna see the gators, go when its warmer and later in the day. And be sure you bring plenty of skeeter dope or youll surely be scratching yourself silly half a mile down the road!!
Excellent stop along the Natchez Trace. Beautiful short easy hiking trail with interpretive panels. Worth the stop!
This is a great place to go when you want to go into nature and just escape the reality for just a little while, very pretty and you learn a good bit of history as well
Would have loved to walked the trail but was pouring rain.
Tupelo baldcypress swamp is a great hike for people that enjoy nature. This picture perfect place is a great natural wetland. It is said to hold alligators and other swamp animals alike... One word of advice, bug spray is an essential gear to enjoy the surrounding landscape.
A fav on the trace in general, but definitely number one for photography. The general beauty and the light show cast by nature is spectacular!
A quick trail to walk with beautiful views of cypress trees, cypress stumps, and a quiet swamp.
Interesting Cypress knees and swamp boardwalk
Beautiful, beautiful place. Spend at least 30 minutes here.
Nice place to visit. SAW AN ALLIGATOR on the log.
Amazing place. A must see. 20 minutes walk.
Great short hike (.5 mile approx).. easy access and uncrowded.
Lots of fun if you like that kind of stuff. I do
Flooded...so very short trail! Definitely showed the wet side of a floodplain forest swamp.
Really interesting swamp area. Easy path that winds around the cypress trees.
Beautiful if you love nature, but bring your off because its full of mosquitos.
Super fantastic Cypress Swamp
You can walk around the beautiful swamp. (Nov, 2019)
Closed due to tornado. :( Looks it will be closed for awhile.
A quiet and meditative place that offers the chance to get close to wildlife. The loop takes about 20 minutes but I suggest you show down and take 45. Stop and wait for little critters to make themselves known. The trees are obviously the stars of this place; they are majestic and elegant.
Nice place to go for a hike along your route!
We enjoyed the short walk. Did not spot any alligators but did come across 2 snakes. Make sure to wear bug spray!
The Cypress swamp is a rest area on the Natchez Trace Parkway. It has water looks like a few feet deep and a lot of trees growing out of it. Of course in a swamp there are lots of bugs around. Its a nice rest area to pull out. Easy to see from the main road. This wont would be compatible to other ones. Its just a wildlife area in a rest area pull out. Its easy to get on and off of the main Highway. I highly recommend it to anyone. If you like my reviews please leave a thumbs up. Thanks
Currently closed. They’re tearing down the trees on the outside of it so the road is blocked.
Beautiful place to stop, its a short little hike and very much worth stoppig
Very nice. We saw 4 small and 1 larger alligator!
Stunning!
The Cypress Swamp was a big hit with my family when we traveled the Natchez Trace Parkway in June. The path made for an easy walk and provided access to some very cool views of the Tupelo bald cypress stands. Its a great place to see nature & wildlife. Bring bug spray and enjoy. I didnt see one but, if youre lucky, you may see a gator sunning themselves on a log as others have.
Beautiful stop along the Natchez Trace. It is very peaceful.
We seen a few alligators. It was worth going to.
The boardwalk is quite short, but definitely a neat place to stop and visit!
Very cool, trails need maintenance thou kinda dangerous with the snakes and such
Quick and amazing little spot. Definitely worth the trip.
Awesome, nice walk.See pictures
There is no stillness like that of a swamp, such an excellent mirror.
Swamp is right, but nice place to walk, couple of bridges to cross, few benches to sit about an easy 20 minute walk definitely enjoyed different scenery along natchez trace
Very easy walk. Not bad on the knees and enjoyable for the kids.
Beautiful yet Creepy! Watch out for gaters
Awesome huge trees, nice hike
Cypress Swamp was a wonderful stop on our road trip. It was peaceful and a serene oasis, until a group of French people arrived on their loud motorcycles and started yelling to each other in order to speak to each other. There were of course mosquitoes as is likely to be found in a swamp. Assuming that youre not interrupted by loud hooligans, its well worth pulling over.
Great location for photography. I got some beautiful prints for my little cousin sweet 16.
Fun easy real with lots of signs explaining the history and plants and animals.
Great little walk.
We found a water snake, sadly no alligators
If you are quite and patient there is a lot of wildlife to see. The down side this year is the bus size mosquitoes, and ticks Ive never seen this bad
Quick stop. Short hikes but its pretty cool.
Very interesting
Nice little walk through a very pretty and unique place.
Beautiful all year round I absolutely loved the scenery and will be making trips out much more often. Only down side is this spot not being advertised Ive been in this area ten years and never seen it but most defiantly glad I did!!
Cool ecosystem to see and definitely very beautiful in a way that a swamp can be. Worth the stop if youre in the area but its short.
Nice little walk and scenery. Hiking trails across the road if youre looking for a good hike.
Nice trail, no amenities.
We didnt make it there until nightfall. Had flashlights. Very cool and a bit spooky.
Awesome. Great for children. Very beautiful and swampy. Great boardwalk. Watch out for the small alligators :-)
I went here to see synchronized fireflies. It was great.
Love this place
Very nice.
Park rangers shiudclean this place up better
Very peaceful, would be five stars but mosquitos there are pretty awful.
I love it there Ive been visiting there for the past 30 years since I was a kid and enjoy the scenery everytime.
Magical place just north of Jackson, youll be immersed in a bald cypress swamp, enjoying the nature sounds and the reflections of the trees on the water.
So beautiful! A simple short trail
Small but very educational good to visit
Beautiful nature trail off of The Natchez Trace, Blad cypress, Tupelo poplar, pones, good place for sitting to watch wildlife. It has more use than expected, still a nice quiet place to enjoy nature.Just remember to bring insect repellant, you are in Mississippi.
Excellent...
Awesome trails saw a couple of snakes
Freaking beautiful. What can I say the Cypress beautiful. I even love the swamp. And the baby gaters omg omg omg to ADORABLE. The Cypress knees poking out of the water were gorgeous.
