My boyfriend and I have visited a large assortment of parks since quarantine started and this location was by far the best surprise. We saw more wildlife (birds, bugs, a snake!) here than at any other location.

Farnham-Connolly Memorial Park is a small Mass. DCR property just off Rt 95, on Neponset St in Canton. It’s the site of the former Canton Airport, and has been reclaimed into a passive recreation area. There are ~40 parking spots, it’s easy to find, and offers a lot for a small-ish (6 acre) area. It’s well maintained, and has a stage for in-season entertainment and shows offered by both the DCR and the town of Canton. The best recreational feature is the ~1.5 mi. walking path thru the Fowl Meadow ACEC, home to all sorts of flora, fauna and critters. The main trail is a flat, straight path that cuts thru the middle of the meadow. It offers a ~3.2 mile round trip walk, good for walking, running, x-c skiing or snow shoe. The grounds closest to Neponset St offer a nice, accessible trail, and provide a really nice spot for a break for travelers traveling Rt 95. High marks for natural setting, although not as nice a hiking spot as offered by the nearby Blue Hills Reservation. It could also be improved if a connection could be built leading to the Blue Hills, Signal Hill or the many trails in Norwood. Go, take a hike !

Perfect little spot to read, relax and enjoy the scenery. A few little paths to walk around and a little pond with turtles. The best thing about the spot is all the information posted to learn more about the nearby airport and the pilots.

Good place for a long walk. Nothing of any interest for children. One path that runs parallel to rt 95 is very wide and easy to walkon but then when it turns it gets narrow and is blocked bt several trees.

Great place to see wildlife on boardwalks. Historical sight with plenty of signs to explain the significance of the park.

Ive been visiting Canton for the past 6 years so I was really excited to see this new park. The history behind it is pretty cool. Its crazy to think there was an airfield at the same spot back in the 30s! Much of it is still under development. But there is a trail thats partially bush-whacked you can use. Make sure to take closed-toe shoes. I ran into at least one Garter snake. She was shy and basically slithered away into the grass, but I dont like the prospect of me startling her and possibly stepping on her …!
