Very nice museum. The curator and assistants have done a great job. It provides good coverage of Kitsap County. There is an amazing collection of puppets and related content. Worth the time.

The Kitsap Historical Society Museum was a very nice place to visit in Bremerton. I liked the exhibits and especially the one that walked you through the facades and storefronts of a bygone Bremerton. My favorite part of the museum was the temporary exhibit about the Indigpino population in Bainbridge Island and the surrounding area. I did not know anything about them and learned a lot about their history. Definitely a nice place to visit in Bremerton.

The stories of Kitsap County are told through living history displays. There is a recreated small town that is very well done. This brings so much more life to the history stories. There is also a small puppet museum upstairs. A must stop in downtown Bremerton.

This museum has Indian artifacts, explorers who came, the history of how the loggers worked here, what home life was like in the 1800s, an exhibit about the ferry system, and some on the shipyards contributions during WWII. A section is devoted to shops in the area from long ago; you can dial a number and listen to a recorded message for each. Tours can be arranged for school groups with a docent to explain what the students are seeing. The first Friday of each month is a program at night and the museum is free that evening. Some exhibit area rotates various themes so it is not always the same.

I noticed the museum when I drove past it and decided to check it out. The admission is low ($4 general $3 military) and is fair for what the museum offers. Theres a Main Street replica with shops and authentic antiques and items on display set up as it would be in the 18-1900s. Theres plenty of information to read on the wall decals and the whole museum takes about 30 minutes to walk in a circle. Theres a hands on exhibit at the end where you can play with antique Singer sewing machine, a rotary phone, a telegraph, a switch board and other cool things. I learned a few things about Bremerton history and Im glad I stopped by.

You will not find a cooler museum than the Kitsap County Historical Society. There is a bookshelf of old yearbooks right outside the back room. Go find West Bremerton class of 1973 and look up Mingo Moo or Rhonda Rigamortis...... I wonder what these kids are doing now. Tell Dean Tingey I sent you. Also, right now the exhibit in the back room is all about Bremerton water. Bremerton has some of the best water in the country. Yea, Bremerton.
