The most awesome thing about this old movie theater is the work that they continue to do to maintain it. The company has done some great shows and the additional programs that they offer have something for everyone.

The ambience of an old theater is so worth it. I know that the seats arent the comfiest and the price is higher, but the theater is beautiful. You get great service not available in regular theaters and a wonderful theater you can admire before the show starts. It seems like the crowd gets more involved, funny and happy scenes seemed to be enjoyed all around the theater in a way you dont get in modern theaters.

We had a very disappointing experience at the Ellen today. When my wife purchased tickets for the documentary rewind she noticed on the website that one of her favorite movies from her childhood, Newsies was going to be presented so she placed the date on her her calendar. She also placed the time of the show on the calendar in the kitchen and mentioned it to me multiple times over the next 2 months. She asked me, the week of the show, to not make plans for Saturday at 3pm for this is when the show started. She double checked the time, and sure enough it was 3. We gathered the family up in the car and drove to the theater found parking and entered the theater only to find out that the movie it started at 2 p.m. Oddly enough the owners of the theater were in the lobby assuring everyone that it was the Bozones mistake and not their own and that they had checked their own website and then argued with us about whether or not we double-checked. We decided not to stay. I promptly checked their website to find nothing at all mentioned about the movie or when it started even though they assured us that they had checked their website and it was indeed 2 p.m. I love the Ellen and everything in it stands for but this particular experience really left a sour taste our mouth.

This place is so special to me - its a link to our vibrant past. The most recent owner has shown true love of our community and respect for our roots in the beautiful restoration he did of the theater. It takes you back to another era of art and beautiful architecture. They host a wide variety of entertainment for the community and care enough to make the ticket prices affordable for all. I dont think there is a bad seat in the house. You can buy wine and beer as well as coffee and water (other drinks too?) before the shows and at intermission - and sometimes snacks. This is a wonderful venue to see live performances with a small symphony in the pit, movies and community presentations. I highly recommend this venue!

My mother, sister and I absolutely adored our first time into the theater since its restoration. The interior is stunningly beautiful, and the pieces they chose to restore and repair were so well chosen. I would love to see this valuable community resource restored to every bit of glamour from its glory days and more. We will be coming back for as many show as we possibly can to support this beautiful historical facility.Side note - the concessions are more than decent. Nothing beats a great play with a glass of wine.

The Ellen is a 100+year old movie theater that has been lovingly restored to its youth. The venue is used for live performance as well as movies. In the summer classic Western movies are shown for the ticket price of $5, and classic movies are shown year round. Verdigris is next. A free family movie is shown monthly. He plays and musicals are locally cast and produced with unvelievable talent. It is an absolute community jewel.

Shes a grand old lady in the style of what old movie theaters used to be. They have performances to suit everyones taste. Movies, dance, music, theatre. A beer and wine cash bar in the lobby. Management works hard to bring great entertainment to town. Parking in town can be tricky so plan to arrive a few minutes early.

We just saw “Annie” here last night. I’ve seen many live performances here and have to say this is such a gem for our small town. I had no idea we had this level of talent in our area. Everything from the set design, symphony, costumes, and the actors themselves were on a level I would have only expected in Seattle or Denver. We are so fortunate to have the Ellen and its staff- I’ll definitely be donating to make sure this amazing resource has what it needs to thrive.

I find the hidden fees associated with events at the Ellen to be quite distasteful. If you are going to advertise a ticket price just advertise it at what I can expect to pay you at the box office. Dont advertise that the cost is $5 for a student to attend an event like Pecha Kucha and then tell me its really $8 (ish) with the mandatory fees. Some years ago the box office refused to give me that student deal for Pecha Kucha - they said there was no such thing - even though I had read it in the Get Out section of the newspaper. The only way they let me in was making me pay the regular ticket cost - once I got home I found the student price listed in the paper. I think its great they occasionally play classic movies there but I never go as I know the fee troll is lurking at the box office. Please just be up front about the cost to attend an event. I had emailed my concerns at one point but never got a response. The interior is beautiful (not the lobby though) which is why I came up with two stars.
