One of the best free museums weve ever been to. It was perfect for kids and was surprisingly big. Great for a little family outing on a Saturday. Do check it out if your looking for a cheap fun thing to do.
It was nice. I went for an anthropology lecture for school and it was very interesting. They do have restrooms and a small gift shop as well. Decent parking. Clean. Worth checking out if you are ever in the area.
This museum has relatively small collections to display. Its ozone and climate change information are in-depth and thorough. Also Dinosaur lovers would like this place. Other areas are mainly designated for educational purposes. Although admission is free, parking isnt and is monitored even on weekends.
Really neat little museum. The dinosaur and tree exhibits are my favorite. I take my young clients here for community outings and they’ve always had a blast. I definitely recommend checking out.
Great small museum! Good place to introduce kids to a museum atmosphere!
This museum is free and an educational activity to do with little ones. We found out that the museum has a preschool program on Thursdays too. We did street parking which is free on weekdays for 2 hours, and spent about 90 minutes in the museum. The only reason I did not give it 5 stars is because the videos and informational signs are not written in kid language so I had to do a lot of translating so that the information made sense to my kids.
Nice museum. Free for visitors. They have a cool array of fossils to checkout. I would recommend it if you are touring the campus. Nice to see a variety of exhibits for all ages. Looks like the exhibits keep changing so worth multiple visits.
For a small museum it has much to offer. The staff is knowledgeable and can accommodate the questions from children as well as adults.
Very nice place to spend some time! The kids loved it and the staff was super friendly
We were pearl pleasantly surprised by this place. Its free first of all and there is parking right outside. They have some nice exhibits and a cute little play area for the kids. Less crowded than the natural history Museum in Denver by far and just a more intimate setting where you can really learn about the exhibits
Loved the museum. Beautiful school.Cant wait till the Bio Lounge is open.
Awesome place for kids to learn and play!
A few cool interactive displays and interesting mix of subjects.
Small but excellent. Paleontology and anthropology exhibits are each one large room but have excellent specimen. There are many ok to touch which is great for kids.
Quite small and extremely dusty. The kids area is tiny and the lack of air conditioning in the summer made it sooo stuffy. The tree exhibit was fun though.
We had hoped for a helpful display about the unique history and geology in the area, but found just a handful of rooms and displays about archeological digs, pottery and trees. Yet the most difficult part of our visit was the parking -- none is open to visitors in front of the building. Youll have to schelp across the busy road to spots on the street or in a more distant ramp. At 99 degrees in July, that was unpleasant.
Great little museum and study spot. For students, the biolounge (in the basement) cant be beat during museum hours. Cool exhibits, free coffee, and comfy chairs with tons of power outlets.
It was a beautiful campus, the childrens portion of the museum of natural science was great
Nice little museum. We spent a few hours here and the kids loved it!
Ive loved this place for years probably wont change any day soon.
Wow. What a perfect spot for kids
What an amazing collection for a free museum
The staff at the counter was friendly and the price cant be beat; it is free (though there is a box for contributions). Free coffee (served in ceramic mugs) is even available downstairs. If you are from an area with major paleontology museums or if you are comparing this to a major Natural History museum you might be disappointed, but for a small university museum the dinosaur exhibit alone is pretty extensive for not a fraction of the price, but for free. Did I mention it is free?If you are traveling with small dinosaur enthusiasts in particular, they can actually spend up to a couple of hours with the hands-on exhibits. We live in a major worlds city, but also a part of the world that is lacking in major dinosaur digs, so our 6-year-old daughter was quite pleased and not ready to leave after an hour and a half.
It was such a great collection of science which was in a way that was very easy to follow for young kids and historically pertinent in a sophisticated university atmosphere
Closed due to covid
A cool, free museum. Somewhat limited exposition, but that was offset by the complete lack of other people
Great place to study. The biolounge is a quite and comfortable lounge with free coffee and tea
How cool! The biolounge is unique and relaxing. The triceratops skull is awesome. And its free!
Amazing expositions, staff and place.
Cant really beat the price (free). There is however a fee for parking. We paid $1 on Sunday. Which is the all day price. For Sunday only. The pay machine takes all types of credit cards. Yes even American Express. The parking cost is higher on weekdays. It bills in $0.50 increments. Cash is excepted also. Beware no change given. They have a small gift shop type area. I really dont recall what it was labeled. There are two separate areas for hands on activities for children. We found it nice that several of the things in the dinosaur room were ok for children to touch. Several areas had short informational videos. All between two and eight minutes. Definitely worth stopping to kill a hours or so while traveling with children.
The staff were all very friendly and the exhibits well put-together. Plus, its free! I highly recommend checking out this museum if you have little ones or just want to see a cool museum.
A small, free museum. Great to spend an hour or so in if you need to kill some time.
I wanted to see dinosaur bones and I saw dinosaur bones! The triceratops skull was awesome! I loved the diplodocus skull and the hadrosaur teeth, too. Really fun, interesting place to stop in and walk around and learn. It was very quiet and that made me so happy.
Amazing place. Lots of cool stuff to see.
Cool little museum - learned a bit about ozone.
Small but interesting. The kids greatly enjoyed exploring each room.
Cool little museum in the heart of the CU Boulder campus. Mostly has exhibits about the history of Boulder and the surrounding area. When I went they were having a Native American live exhibit that you could participate in. They had cutouts of various different animals and you could throw spears at them as if you were a Native American hunter gathering food for his tribe. Nice place to visit while in the Boulder area.
Interesting exhibits.
What? No way!? Unbelievable! Those are just some of the things you can expect to hear here, assuming you have even a smidgen of interest in the world in which we are living.
Definitely not as good as the one in New York. But there was still some good videos I watched on the screens and the exhibits were interesting but I wish it could be better and have more exhibits to see.
Its a great, pay what you want, museum to take your kids to. Their selection of dinosaur skeletons is impressive for the small size of the museum. They also have a rotation exhibit that tend to be interactive. Definitely worth a visit.
Nice displays, great lounge, helpful staff.
Super friendly staff and cool exhibits for such a small museum
Great little museum. Free admission and the staff are super friendly
Superb staff great exhibits extremely helpful for research students and parents with young children.
Not wheelchair accessible. Also everything was seemingly thrown together.
Its in a completely different league from the big museum in Denver, but its a nice indoor activity for kids, and the nominal admission fee truly is recommended. In the basement is a nice lounge with some free coffee & tea and a small art display.
Wow, I expected just one room with old things, but it is modern and very interesting. Great for kids: short and sweet, museum that does not exhaust - yet serves as a trampoline for so many discussions. Together with the art museum, the planetarium, and the food court at C4C - makes a wonderful day out!
Family day activities were excellent!
Learned a lot about the Boulder area.
Small but interesting place to learn about the past.
Love the free coffee and tea in the Biolounge. Never defund that program!
What a great little treasure! We will be back
Fiske Planetarium star show is enjoyable and educational
Excellent people and service by all the staff.
Very well set up and free museum
Great little museum free to get in.
Great place for kids,too.
The exhibit was incredible!
A great resource, a fun visit.
Not a ton of exhibits, but a nice, quiet area with an interesting dinosaur bit.
Very small; nice fossil collection though. Biolounge seems to be a great place for CU students to study.
Good free museum more so designed for younger children with lots of hands on and interesting exhibits
There is a pterodactyl hanging from the ceiling!
Really small. At least it’s free!
Gorgeous campus, in a gorgeous setting
Great little museum
This is a terrific museum. Small, informative, delightful!
It was a let down. There is no public parking available and the museum doesn’t have very many exhibits. Worse there was a student/narc wannabe with a “parking- ticket-omatic” ready to strike any museum seekers. Most uncool and the whole experience dishonored me!
Burns some time for kids, but otherwise limited info on display.
I dont think this can even be called a museum. 4 small rooms, one of which is a coffee lounge and study area
Great place to visit
Neat place
It is good
Very interesting and great
Dope
It a museum
If you have kids and have not visited this treasure, do so soon, you and your kids will have a blast...oh yes, and it is free!
Very interesting.Check out the mineral collection
Small, but plenty to entertain for a couple of hours.
Great local museum
