Friendly and well organized space. Small and efficient building.
This is certainly a hidden gem in downtown boulder. The outside is unassuming, but inside lies some of the best examples of contemporary art, displayed beautifully. The interior of the old brick building is stunning in itself. Did I mention it costs $1 to get in? Definitely worth stopping by if you’re in the area.
Small interesting museum with a small entrance fee! $2 .....Nice place to visit and combine with a walk in the park and a visit to the beautiful tea house next door
Fun, wild and evocative. It’s all there, here in Boulder.
Its a beautiful space, and the art installations they create are usually beautiful to look at and intriguing to consider.
Finally made time to visit and I had so much fun. Although the museum is small, it is very spacious, well lit and was excellently curated. I especially loved the upstairs portion! I will definitely be visiting again!
Visited during farmers market so free entry. Great show rooms and display of artists work. Worth your time to visit.
This small museum has awesome changing collections, that are unique and interesting. It also has a great gift shop with good prices.
I got married there. I also djayed a few weddings and two NYE parties. Nice staff. And most importantly great art exhibitions.
Im an artist and Im generally disappointed by the art that makes it into museums but this was a happy exception. They had only 3 artists work up and 2 were women artists, which was amazing and made me so happy. I was introduced to artists Id never heard of but were producing excellent work that deserves to be seen. BMOCA is exactly what a contemporary art museum should be.
Small, but some interesting exhibits. Go on Saturdays during the market, its free. Wouldnt pay otherwise.
Great little museum! I love the exhibit rotations and the artists they bring in!
Its a great little Museum, and next door is a great boulder dash tea house which is also a great place to go!
Always something interesting on display, along with friendly staff this is a great museum to check out. Free admission for Saturdays farmers market also!
Heres another Boulder attraction that I have always ignored, now I wonder why. This traveling exhibition, that will be here until Spetember, was quite engaging. I enjoyed the exhibit that was a series of mandalas with earphones. When properly placed the sounds were very intriguing. Another exhibit was a series of framed money with laser cutting, with something pertinent in the cut out space. On Wednesday when the Farmers Market is open (they take place in the same area), the museum does not charge admission. And although the museum usually charges a $5 admission, for the rest of this year they are only charging $1.They are open during the Sat. Farmers Market, so of you need a little break from the crowding and noise, this is a good place to duck into.
This is a really small museum, not a whole lot of exhibitions. Though they do out on a craft table at the farmers market for kids to do crafts whilst parents are shopping.
Okay, probably better suited to families with younger children.
I was very impressed with the Boulder museum of contemporary art. They had two exhibitions going when I went, both of which were excellent. It is very difficult for a small art museum to effectively Display enough art to make The Visit interesting without you feeling like they just stuffed everything they could find into the little space that they have.I felt like BMoCA a did a good job of avoiding those traps.By only having 2 exhibitions each exhibition was able to take up the entire floor so the pieces had plenty of space to breathe. Which was particularly important in the exhibition downstairs which was a series of portraits done on huge canvasses, and they required space and I was pleased that the museum gave them the space they deserved.Upstairs was an exhibition of various mixed media and digital art, specifically video and things done with computers. Even an app that was an art project - which was really cool. The fact of the 2 exhibitions were so different from each other and that the museum had a foot in both traditional and more I avant garde art was another high point. From what I could tell it seems like the get new exhibitions every few months so I will definitely be going back.
Cool place to check out. The space is decent size and if you like the featured artist then you can probably spend just under an hour here. Also its just $1 to enter.
A nice intimate space where you can get up close and personal with the art on display
This place has so much potential. The building is a cool space and I hope in the future they can build on what is there. The staff is very friendly but Id like to see art that fills the space and more of it
We had a Bar Mitzvah there. Not only is the venue fabulous, but the service and assistance throughout the planning and the event were seamless! Thank you Steven Riley!
Good art museum, but many pieces of art are difficult to understand. Right next to Central Park, the Dushanbe Tea House, & the Boulder Creek, it is easy to access from any point in Boulder. Recommend a quick stop there. It is free!
Its only $2, but theres not much to see.
Sorry but I cant appreciate many of the contemporary arts.To be considered as art, you have to at least show your painting skills are better than a four year old; and your interpretion are more sensible than a schizophrenia buddy (no offense to the patients).
This place is very small, only 2 or 3 exhibits. Hit or miss if you find whats up to be interesting.
Small, but a great exhibit space. Nice way to spend an afternoon!
Current new Contemporary exhibits from artists who strive to be free and forward thinking. Spacious galleries. Excellent venue for educators, business organizations and personal gatherings.
My first experience here! They had some really cool pieces by artists. Its free whenever the boulder farmers market is open so I would highly recommend a stop in from the crowds to take a look around!
WestRail SinoWalk is clearly not an artist and clearly has no regard for people with schizophrenia; neither of which have to do with the fact that this museum is a cool place to have in Boulder. A lot of the art scene in Boulder is kind of monotonous and, as a contemporary expressionist painter, I am happy that I can go somewhere local and have a taste of some international-feeling inspiration!
Great place. very cool space, loved the art they display there. went for an auction with a friend it was very nice.
Nice museum. Great exhibit
Fantastic museum to spend some time in. Its small, so its easy to see everything in under an hour, and they feature interesting exhibits. Best of all, its dirt cheap normally and free at certain times as well!
Great building and interesting exhibit, its changing now though.
Loved the art we saw ..
Not my type of art. It took ten minutes to walk through and we lingered as much as we could. Its a dollar to get in so its not a waste of money.
Fun place. Old depot turned museum. They also host events and have parties occasionally. We went their new years one which was a blast. Keep an eye out for what they have next!
Its a nice building inside, but after donating $5 to the museum, we were a little upset at the lack of art. Theres a ton of white walls with no art. Maybe the joke was on us and the museum represented a minimalistic expressionism piece.
Great space in downtown Boulder. Definitely worth checking out.
Class, sophistication, creativity and all with a funky flair! This place has what it takes to inspire, provoke and expand your perception of reality. Join as a member to receive exclusive invitations to some of the best events in town.
Pretty cool exhibits for only a dollar entry
Went for a showing/auction and it was very nice. Great place
Definitely not the best museum Ive ever been to. Interesting to those who love modern art, but not the best stop for someone exploring the area.
A bit small but filled with interesting work. Where else can you get a curated experience for $1?
Super cool, quaint museum
Maybe Im just not that into Contemporary art, but their exhibits are a bit contrived. I think they could do more to help budding art appreciators interpret their experience.
The abstract art consumes your mind, and fills it with imagination.
Well its Boulder you gotta love it little bit of everything there
Free WiFi near tea
Gotta love the contemporary art
Fun time for the family!
Was recently here for a wedding reception. Lovely setting full of art and history.
Not worth the 2 dollar admission.
Cool place to host events.
Do Not Miss This One.
