I have been a member of the YMCA for over 25/years and this is my second very disappointing experience.I feel that I must express my concern and make you aware of what happened to members of a class today.I attend the 10:30am Water Aerobics class and today I was disappointed in the management and the way that they suspended the instructor of this class. There has been problems with the number of people in the class and the opening of lanes. I was there when management felt that the class size did not merit the opening of additional lanes last night. Management did not see the additional people that came in after they left. I come like many others for health reasons and this instructor has been instrumental in helping individual lose weight, come off of insulin, solve knee problems etc. This instructor as many know has some of the larger classes at the YMCA. Instead of suspending him for trying to do his job management should be proactive in trying to meet the needs of the members who patronize the YMCA. I asked how long was the suspension and I was told indefinitely. How can one be suspended indefinitely? There were people waiting in the pool and no one from management bothered to go in to tell them that there would not be a class today. Class members called to see if there would be a class because it was raining today and when they got there they were told no class. This was clearly no consideration for your members. This is why I rate your services a one today.

The light skin tall lady thats at the door is very rude and unprofessional needs proper training on customer service, I will not be going to this branch anymore because of her, worst experience ever from the downtown branch and Ive been going here for years, honestly it made me want to cancel my membership with the ymca all completely. But Ill go else where, please find better workers!!!

This YMCA has allowed men dressed as women in the women’s locker room.I have been going to this YMCA for several years and have felt safe and comfortable doing so now that has been compromised. In order for him to feel comfortable you have put the need of one in front of the many without thinking how we will feel with him in the locker room with ourselves and our young daughters running around in there from time to time. I don’t want to have conversation switch my young granddaughter about why this man is in the locker room because the Y is forcing the conversation with presence. I am not okay with this and neither are other women. It will hurt you greatly when others hear what has been allowed to happen which they will! Not only this but now he has access to any Y locker room as a woman in the city, exactly who thought this would be ok?

Well- trying to get a day pass - just passing through town - and I was told NO- what is wrong with these people- they do not want neither my money nor my presence in their place- Shame on you YMCA!!!! Close down the place if you are so discriminatory in who gets in your place and for how long

This place has some of the worst hours of any gym Ive ever been to. It seems like if the wind blows the wrong way they close. I literally cant even keep track of how many times Ive showed up only to be locked out because theyre closed for whatever reason. Even days that follow their normal business hours are hard to deal with for anyone who works anything other than exactly 9-5. And what kind of gym is closed for 90% of the weekend?! Every time they screw up one of my workout days be being closed mid week I cant sleep in on Saturday because I have to shoot for the handful of hours theyre actually open on the weekend.Downtown residential is blowing up. If they dont stop purely catering to people who commute into birmingham for work theyre going get destroyed by the first gym to offer good hours.

Renewed my subscription. Just so much to do at this facility. Work out with out it being a work out.Reminded me of a time when my brother, who has passed, received his badges for certain amount of laps in the pool.25,50,75,100. This was in Pensacola, funny thing was he was 68 400 lbs. Looked like a whale swimming. Lol Supprised he didnt sink, he swam so slow. But he had plenty of badges, he inspired me to go then, as he has inspired me to go this time. He is missed.
