Nice fishing pond. No swimming or boating. Lots of mtn biking and hiking trails, although not all are well marked or maintained and some just end. But still miles of good trails, just set your GPS for where you parked.Pond side (North) has more and better maintained trails.
Beautiful area for hiking, fishing, and enjoying nature. No swimming, boating, or motorized vehicles. Love hiking here, but it should be noted, trails arent well marked, So if youre unfamiliar with this area, it may be a good idea to track your hike on your phone so you can use it for reference so you need to.
Good hiking in this former Binghamton ski area. But steep climb uphill to get to the top of the trail.
Gorgeous place! A perfect place to spend an afternoon, if you don’t mind getting a bit muddy. My one real complaint is that there aren’t any trash bins around — something I like to see when I’m out with my dog in case he has an accident.
It was a nice park. Slightly confusing where to park for first timers. The trails were not marked very well, lots of paying attention to where you are to just walk a circle around the water. Lots of fishing spots available around the water.
Nice hiking, even with wet/muddy in spots. Hiked 3.4 miles with the hiking club on a warm January day. I forgot my boots and hiked in speakers but I was able to get around the wet spots without getting my feet wet! One steam crossing, using a 2x8 board or walking through a shallow spot with waterproof boots.
Part of this site is where the long defunct Innsbruck USA ski area once was, so many of the trails were once ski slopes. There are isolated remnants of ski lift infrastructure visible at times. Very nice hiking up and down the hills. Part of the Aqua Terra site is on the opposite side of Maxine road, and there youll find a beautiful pond surrounded by wonderfully wooded hills upon which are more trails. Also of interest to some are fascinating sedimentary rock outcroppings that provide a hint of the long geologic history of these very ancient hills.
Was a nice day on the pond other than having a fight with a tree that caught my lure.
It is a wilderness areaThe pond is beautiful.
This two star review needs some explanation. We used Google search to look for a local spot to do some fishing and Qua-Terra Wilderness Area popped up. Despite having lived in this area for 25 years we had never heard of it.We traveled there and got lost twice using Google maps. We finally found it and all I can say is this is not a fishing location. This is a wilderness area for sure, but there is no body of water available to the public that is more than a small drainage creek in a swamp. The pictures loaded by other reviewers may have been taken during the massive floods of 2005 or 2011, at which time there may have been large bodies of water. That is not the case now or in a normal year. I am attaching a picture of our dog walking through the deepest stream of water we found, which barely came up to his ankles. There are larger artificial ponds in the area, but they are on private land. However, if you are not interested in fishing but would like to hike through an undeveloped natural swamp area with a few barely developed trails, this may be an excellent trip for you. Hard to find and nothing developed, but all natural. Take that as a baseline if you want to visit.
So close to home, very clean and peaceful
Great downhill mountain bike trails.
Such a nice hiking trail! super easy to find and has a huge parking area. there’s a lot of side paths as well but i stayed on the main path for today!
Beautiful out of the way place.
Quiet not allot of fish but beautiful
A beautiful reserve with a nice pond. Easy parking and pond access. Perfect for family fishing. I also see dog walking and mountain bike riders.
Good place to reconnect with nature and to fish if it isnt over crowded.
Love this place. Nothing here, but the great outdoors. Perfect.
Excellent ice fishing destination close to home and it produces great day out
Beautiful wilderness area and pond!
Pretty. Havent been through enough to judge tho
Great local hiking! This place used to be a ski resort called Innsbruck and is now a 400 acre park, tons of trails great for biking or hiking for all levels, there are two ponds on either side of the driveway. The larger one has great views and okay fishing.
Good for hiking and biking. Beware of the ATVs while walking. One side of the road has a pond, the other side, the old ski slopes. Make sure you know where you are going, as paths arent marked very well. Many paths lead to private property, that is posted.
So pretty... My dog loves it here and theres so many hikes to go on
Very nice spot
Great place to hike, but trails are not well marked.
Really nice. Good place to go hiking and fishing. One of the nicer places to hike in the area. Great place to go for beginners
Love getting away for some quiet time and this is a perfect location for that!!
Beautiful place, and fun knowing it was a part of Binghamton history being an old ski resort
It’s very big and beautiful, nice for a casual walk. The ground was all tore up from people driving over the ground when it was wet, however.
Beautiful!
Great hiking spot.
Went fishing there tonight. We saw quite a few baby Rock Bass. Nice area but needs a few benches.
Quiet clean spot to take the kids for the day for cheap
I TOTALLY LOVE THIS PLACE IT IS SO BEAUTIFUL AND QUIET.I ALSO ENJOYED THE BEAUTIFUL SCENERY. AWESOME PLACE TO GO IF YOU LOVE WATER & SCENERY.I GIVE THEM 5 STARS THE PLACE IS ALSO CLEAN. TY FOR ALLOWING ME TO VISIT IM SURE I WILL VISIT THIS PLACE QUITE OFTEN. TYISABEL SWAN
Has two parts, each across the road from each other. On the left towards the entrance board youve the hiking area where you can climb the mountain, pretty steep slopes, flat at the top of the climb. On the other side theres a beautiful pond. About 15 minutes from Binghamton. Good for a short and hard, extensive hike.
Love the fishing here. Lots of room for many fishers and hikers. Only wish more people participated in cleaning up after themselves.
Awesome place, steep hill.
Great little pond for bass fishing. Very quiet and secluded, but only 15 minutes from downtown Binghamton. Great place to spend a lunch break at.
I loved the hike but its not for every one its rated hard and it is
I fished and only caught baby bluegill. There are definitely bigger ones in there.
Great place to fish.
Love it! Wish we could put our little rubber raft in!
I love this place. Great hike. High difficulty. Basically straight up a mountain. Beautiful Lake.
Beautiful fishing hole. Always seems to have another person or two, but not overcrowded that Ive seen. So far, weve caught a bunch of bullhead, sunfish, and a single pickerell.
This park has a problem with a disrespectful public. Illegal activities like camping, using park wood for fires and hunting go on regularly. Also heavily used by 4-wheelers. While the latter is not illegal it, makes connecting with nature difficult if all you can hear is the roar of engines. Good birding in the Spring and Summer though if the 4-wheelers arent around.
I love this place! So serene and a good place to just think! !
Very peaceful!!!
Old ski resort with challenging trail system for hiking, mountain biking, and x country skiing, fishing too! Great views!!
Good park for hiking, fishing, and observing wildlife. Due to its remote location theres no cell service in that area.
Needs a bridge over the creek and some serious drainage work.
One of my favorite outdoor places to go.
Would be better if had grills and benches
Keep it a secret!
Favorite park in the area
Good place for a picnic
Beautiful place...
Its ok
Beatiful and quiet.
Nice place to hikeing
Great place to hike and picnic.
