The park is huge. Its great to take kids, friends, out of town friends, etc... May be a bit too touristy in some areas, but if you know where to go, it can also be nice and quiet. Really good place to show off the great city of Bethesda to your out of town friends! :)
Incredibly disappointing, mostly because of lack of access. This review is for Little Falls Stream Valley Park; I did not visit the northern and western portions that gradually turn into Westmoreland and Norwood Parks. I chose this specific location to see the 5th DC Boundary Stone; google maps indicates trails lead into the general vicinity. However, everything east of the Capital Crescent Trail is fenced off by the city of DC to prevent access to the Dalecarlia Reservoir (which is one of three drinking water sources used by the district). While the fencing is likely viewed as protecting the water source, the result is a rather ugly walk on a paved trail that has 8 foot barbed wire fencing blocking off significant portions (Id guess about 140+ acres) of green space, including making the boundary stone inaccessible. The fencing runs in a complete circle along Dalecarlia Parkway and makes this feel like a private park that only employees of D.C. water treatment facilities can access. I suggest capping the reservoir to both improve the water quality and allowing the fence to be removed and provide general access to the park. I would not return and would not recommend it. See photos for what to expect.
Beautiful forest with a steam that you can walk along side of. The path is well paved and good for walking or biking. This park leads down to the Dalecarlia tunnel. The one draw back is that there isnt a loop trail so you will have to turn around.
Great path and a nice stream with rocks for kids to play. Good for bikes, plenty of dogs, and main road closed to cars on weekends
BORDERLINE POST.Before my scheduled escort to see the two boundary stones located within the Delecarlia Water Treatment Plant, I noticed an obscure borderline marker, that distinguishes the District of Columbia and Maryland line, which runs through the grounds of the Plant. This marker is strategically placed behind the east side guard rail of MacArthur Boulevard NW.
I cannot for the life of me figure out how to actually get in this place. Google maps just takes me to the middle of a road where the woods are fenced in. Can anyone help!?
Truly a place to visit even on the hottest days. There is a bit of something for everyone & dogs too. From winding path to walk run or push a stroller that mirrors the water and Capital Crescent Trail. The park offers several access points for kids and pets to the water and a few bridges that offer super photo opportunities.
If you love nature you will love it here.
Beautiful place for quiet clean walk and family fun time..
Lovely little park with access to water at various points for dogs. An off leash dog startled my dog and me which caused me a small spill (scraped up knee). Otherwise, a perfectly enjoyable time!
Great little park with decent paved and unpaved trails. Not like a great hike or anything, but convenient, well groomed, its nice.
Great little park with playground for kids.
Strosneiders is my favorite hardware store. If the Arlington Rd store doesnt have what I need I know the Potomac store will --- and its worth the drive.
Nice trail for strolling alongside the creek.
Lovely and quiet. And on the right days, despite the quiet, you might have an opportunity to hear an ice cream truck in an adjacent neighborhood and get a treat before you return to nature :-)
An alternative option to viewing the cherry blossom at tidal basin, beautiful neighborhood.
Fun walking area. Can be a high bike traffic area though.
