It was my first time seeing this park today. I walked a little bit on the trails. The trails are wide and paved. It is a nice park with lots of families since the park has a playground for children. I felt safe here with other people around having picnics at the picnic tables or walking around. I only saw a bit of Cabin John Regional Park, but I look forward to seeing more of it in the future. It is a nice break from city life.

My husband surprised us on family day today with a trip to this park. What a pleasant surprise! Our grade school and preschool children both had so much fun. It had many different playground structures so kids werent on top of each other. As we were studying the map we found out that there are walking trails, tennis, camping and so much more! We will definitely visit again as the weather warms up. The only negative things I can say are about the bathrooms and water fountains. The fountains werent on but they may not turn them on until warmer weather appears steadily. The bathrooms were very dirty as well. At least they had toilet paper but they need a good disinfecting. Overall we liked this place!

Awesome afternoon and really, rather unexpected. Izzy needed to get out, mingle, meet & greet, you know, so we went to our first ever dog park. Wow! It was terrific! The dogs were great. The people were great. Granted we didnt go in all the way, one fence kept the barrage at bay, but we got the gist and Izzy and I will be back soon! Happy Thanksgiving!

Great playground for kids ages 2-8. It has about 8-10 playground areas, some more appropriate for younger kids and some for older kids. There is a bathroom area right next to the playground and a train that has seasonal sightings (it was not running as we went on a holiday), but we could see some of the Halloween-themed things they set up for the kids to find. Great place to spend a few hours with the kids.

Cabin John Regional Park is a fantastic, well-maintained park for the whole family. There are picnic areas, a walking/biking trail, and a very large playground area. I used to bring my four kids here when they were young, and, now, 20+ years later, Im visiting here again with my daughter and her kids. The playground area has been expanded, there are more areas for play, and the equipment is more colorful. Happily, the trash-eating pig (kids trash receptacle) is still there. Maybe the greatest testament to this Park is my granddaughters comment, This Playground is AWESOME!!

Been going to this park since I was a child, with my grandparents. I took my children here, and now my grandchildren. We all love it! We call it The Piggy Park after the old talking pig by the trash can next to the train station. Oh! And the train! What can I say? Cabin John is the BEST, and my familys favorite, year round, year in, year out.

Great place for families! A large, spread out, shaded play area with many options for active kids is a big draw. Dogs on leashes are welcome. An open air train for children and adults runs roughly every hour in a 20- minute loop, complete with lots of toots. Tickets are about $2.50 each. A party room is available to rent for kids birthdays or other special events. The staff was super nice and helpful.

Great place to bring your children to play, or to ride the train (my nephews love to come ride the train here). I believe they also have a room you can rent for kids birthday parties. There are some nice outdoor picnic areas,, and trails to walk in. There is also a very nice dog park with two sections, one for small dogs and another for big dogs. Parking is free.

First, I used to go to Cabin John park as a kid. It was such a joy to take my son to the park, the trash eating pig is still there, the train ride and its only $2.50 per. Person. The park is so well maintained. You can even cook on a grill. I love this place.

A large wooded area with multiple playground areas. Many age groups are accommodated with age appropriate equipment. There is also a train that offers a relaxing ride through the wooded area. They do have a birthday room that can be reserved for small to medium parties. Areas are mostly clean, although some play equipment may be under repair or maintenance.

We go here manly for the dog park. I always wondered how these things work. I mean dogs can act...like dogs. But its all fenced in. Lots of fresh water, things to climb on, and doggy bags? The dogs love it and love seeing each other. Parents too. No strangers here. I wouldnt want to have to maintain this place and I do appreciate the parks efforts. Sometimes after it rains it takes a few days to get rid of the mudholes.

I like taking my daughter (she is almost 3 years old) to this park because of all of the trees. The trees keeps the park shaded and cool on hot summer days. Also she love riding the little train in the park. The ride lasts between 15 and 20 minutes.

This is one of my most favorite parts in the region. It is one of the few parts where all playground equipment is shaded by trees all day long. The playground equipment has a wide range of ages, capable of entertaining the newly walking infant through older kids still not ready to give up tag. There are also plenty of places to sit and either enjoy a book, people watching, or a picnic. The unique attraction is the small gauge scenic train, available to ride for all ages in every half hour, when it is running. This feature is only shared with one other local park in Wheaton.

Still a beautiful place. I was there when the park opened in 1967, and it just keeps getting better. All all the credit for the park upkeep goes to the Maryland National Capitol Park and Planning Commission! Kudos to you guys and gals at MNCPPC! I just wish the Miniature Train would operate every day of the week, as it once used to. And its time to use the New Engine that you purchased 2 1/2 years ago, instead of leaving it stuffed and mounted at the back of the station. The new Engine will pair nicely with the 5 new Coaches that you just started using this year.

My child never runs out of things to do at this playground. There are many different climbing and sliding options, as well as at least 3 different spaces for toddlers and younger children to play. The train is waaaaay better than the rinky-dink ones you see at malls in the area. It is big, on real tracks, looks like a real steam engine, and only costs $2.50 per person. There are also walking trails for nature lovers, and real bathrooms (but NO changing tables). We will be returning regularly to this location. We had a wonderful time!

Great park in a heavily wooded area. Tricky to find if it is your first time but Google maps will get you there. Train ride is just that, a train ride though the woods.Get the ticket booklet and youll save some money if you plan on visiting the park (or the Wheaton Train or Carrousel) several times during the year.Park is great on sunny dry weather, lots of shade and cooler. On humid days it can feel hotter. There are kid friendly slides and other things for kiddos to play with. Bring bug spray, a mosquito zapper, a blow torch or anything that can help you deal with those mosquitos, youll definitely need it.
