A wonderfully warm community of caring people who want to make a difference in the world around them. Ive been a member for 14 years at this point, and its opened my eyes and changed my life.
I remember seeing a group from this church over at the Enatai beach park a while back. They had big signs talking about being a witness for international believers. I became more interested when I saw no one else was with them, just a few creepy white people. The people they were luring with a staged photo op are only wealthy international people. They allow suffering to happen regularly in the local area. The rule here is the Golden Rule... whoever has the gold makes the rules... not religious tenets.
I was actually just here for a community meeting, so I have no idea what the church itself is actually like, but the grounds are very nice and the buildings are clean. Theres some auxiliary parking I didnt know about because there is minimal parking in the drive, but you can also park on the street.
Easy access from I 90, plenty of free parking, whatelse you need for a big gathering.
Friendly people. Nice minister. Beautiful santuary overlooking native trees and Flora. Nice book shop!
This is a great place to walk by and enjoy the essence of the surroundings! However, I did not attend a service and cannot comment on their services or their hospitality!
Tranquil, safe and serene. Not overtly religious. Welcoming and open.
Awesome, loving bunch of folks.
We have a secular AA group that meets their on Monday night called Heathens Haven. Everyone is welcome, believers, skeptics, and a-thiests.
East Shore is a liberal religious group that shares a common set of values related to acceptance, tolerance, and openness. During this year of transition from a much-loved minister of 25 years, through the search for the churchs next permanent minister, Elaine Peresluha has stepped in to facilitate the transition beautifully. She is well-read, articulate, funny, insightful, and offers wisdom that comes from a lifetime of thoughtful experience. Her Sunday morning sermons these last few months have been some of my all time favorites! She is a strong leader and a gifted and accessible speaker.
Beautiful liberal church with welcoming congregation.
I was a member of this church 5-6 years ago and came back after moving back into the area. The parishioners are still welcoming, kind and non judgemental and the campus is still absolutely breathtaking. The new pastor however needs to be elsewhere. He was not engaging, his sermons shared no insight or lesson, he seemed disinterested and like he wasnt knowledgeable enough about the UU religion. He didnt make any effort to welcome new people at all like previous pastors. As a result the congregation appears to have greatly dwindled from the previous congregation sizes. I wanted to give the church the benefit of the doubt so I attended 2 weeks in a row and both services to see if there was any difference in the number of people who attended or the quality of the sermon...from my perspective there was little difference except that the second week was worse. I am grieving the church I used to attend and am looking for an alternative but I am finding that difficult.
Memorial service was excellent, grounds around church beautiful
I was impressed with the concern and caring shown by everyone there.
Beautiful buildings, well maintained, welcoming church
Wonderful people and open minded. Very good community service
Reverend Elaine Peresluha has come to East Shore bringing love, laughter, stability, common sense, spiritual insight, and a toolbox of everyday wisdom. She is friendly and accessible on Sunday morning after the sermon, and during office hours. There is a casual accessibility to her and a no-nonsense, lets get it done reality in her approach to ministering. East Shore is lucky to have her.
Idk do not go to church?!?!?!?
Great place meet wonderful people.
Clean, well maintained place!
I found a home here with people like me who dont think they have all the answers. Who think that the world can be a confusing place and that we should listen to ideas from sages of all faiths and none, and decide for ourselves individually whose ideas make the most sense to us. We share in the search for meaning in life. We work to make the world a better place, both locally and globally. Life gives us many challenges, and we support each other thru good times and bad to be the best people we can be.
The sermon was more engaging with the previous pastors
Rev. Elaine was my interim minister in Portsmouth NH for two years where she handled very difficult personnel decisions (the organist was one) and was 100 percent backed by the UUA office for her actions. The new settled ministers appreciated her handling of these problems...I know as I was on the church council during this time! She is doing wonders at East Shore...
East Shore UU is my second home and a wonderful community. It is a place for me to live out my values and truly help make the world a better place. Rev. Elaine Perisluha has stepped into a challenging interim year and is doing a fine job.
Great church. Liberal progressive. All are welcome!
Friendly people like to help others
Things I love about ESUC: the variety of high quality music/musicians, Pastor Peters storytelling, beautiful natural setting, events and personal enrichment opportunities, surprises and special guests at services, religious education, open and real people, rich history and traditions, and wonderful values and beliefs that make sense.
