Great little camp. We stayed for almost two weeks while my wife was in the hospital in Boston. Ann-Marie and Norm were Awesome CG host. They offered to watch after and walk my dog while I was out at the hospital. They run a safe and secure campground. Other campers were great and made you feel welcome. The only thing I would like to see is that they take reservations due to how busy they get. However, Ann Marie said they had to never turn anyone away. Commissary is a good place to shop and with very fair prices. You cant beat the price for FHU 26.00 a day. Lots to do and see in Boston area.I have returned three more times being that I live only a few hours away. My kids love this place and cant wait to go back this coming year.
Stayed here for a little over a month and enjoyed my visit. Ann Marie, Norm and Shannon who work in the office are very nice!! Nice laundry room and clubhouse although a pool table or something to do in the clubhouse would be nice. But great place to hang out and talk. Also enjoyed the fact that almost every night theres a Camp Fire with a circle of people visiting. And while I was here they had the potato bake which was awesome!! As with most campgrounds Ive met very nice people here :)
Stayed almost a week. The site we had was level and neat and clean. We extended our stay twice. Once because there are so many historic things to see. And a second time because the u joint went out on the truck. The lady in the office is so nice and super helpful. She gave us info on how to get to the city and what to see. The camp grounds are right on an airport fence. But I like watching the planes and its a smaller airport. We would for sure come back.
So the good...the staff was awesome when we where there the grounds where nice .The community areas where clean and inviting.also close to Boston with so much to see and do. However its been a long while & things change. The bad (at least for us) is this famcamp is geared towards rv camping and that trip we took our tent .no campfires on your site, for the kids that sucked alittle and teenagers get bored easily . This famcamp is post adjacent (outside the wire) . a few of the famcamps we have visited have been close enough to the flight line that the kids would watch the planes take off .but this one felt and sounded much closer. All things i wish i had known in advance and the reason Im sharing .Over all everyone still enojoyed our visit and we would most likely visit again in our rv
This is off base, and although its not far, its not convenient. Sites are narrow, but good enough; the pads are all gravel with a small concrete patio. Also, whey say they dont take reservations, they mean it - since there are quite a few long term residents, have a plan B. Finally, its right next to the airstrip and planes (both prop and small jet engine) takeoff and land 24/7, so if youre not a hard sleeper, bring earplugs.
For the price Im ecstatic! Very quiet and clean. the airfield is next door but I was a grunt so it doesnt bother me at all, its really not that bad. Also the people camping here ARE ALL active, military spouses or retired military. Thats awsome because everyone is curtious and well mannered with no civilians turning this place into a zoo. Bathrooms are ok and the wifi isnt great. I would definitely stay here again
Right next to an airport. Plenty of rv parking with hookups. Large restroom area. Laundry room. Not super expensive. Fast food, groceries and gas nearby. Pet friendly. Everyone seemed nice.
First let me say to all the complainers out there...be thankful that the government is willing to provide RV sites, it is a privilege not a right to have it provided for active duty and retirees. They might not be perfect but most of the ones weve stayed in would get at least three stars from me and I am extremely picky. The famcamp is fairly close to Boston. It does not have amenities, so what, the price is great for what you get. I thought the sites were nice, we did stayed in a wider longer site which cost $3.00 more a day, well worth the extra money. The airport and planes did not bother us. They took off from 7:00 am to 10:00 pm so not a problem, we actually enjoyed watching them take off at sunset. Now for the negatives.... they dont allow small dog fences at the sites which is stupid, period. Its the only famcamp Ive stayed at that has that rule. They dont have a reason for it either which makes it more stupid. Last negative, we needed propane the morning we left. I had to try and find the maintenance man because he did not have a cell or pager that alerts him when the office tries to contact him. This needs to be rectified. He finally noticed our RV at the propane tank and came over.
Ideal location to camp to sight see the New England area, camping sights in section we stayed had plenty of space. Bath house could use some up grade another toilet or two, and showers need to be scrubbed and cleaned out a little better
This is a excellent campground. It is clean, well kept, spacious and quiet. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Its also dog friendly.
Great place to stay! Level sites and very near historic area. I’ll be coming back!
We arrived here in late August 2017 and there was work being done on the adjacent military base runway. There was constant traffic of trucks carrying broken concrete out of the airfield early in the mornings to late afternoons. The landing and takeoff of airplanes was driving us crazy too with all the noise. After a week or so the trucks noise/driving stoped. : )The airplane noise is on and off but -hey! Its next to an Air Force base-what do you expect.! : )Its a nice, friendly, safe and clean place to stay and cant beat the price. We came here to settle our kid into MIT and we accomplished that.We will for sure be back again! : )
We love Hanscom FamCamp. It has a nice wooded area as well as all the amenities we RVERS need and enjoy. The people who work there are very pleasant and helpful. Just remember the run way is near so there is the occasional noise of the planes, but not much
Off the beaten path but pretty easy to get to. Great laundry room and sunny spots or wooded sites. Very nice staff. Alot of airport noise but still a nice place.
Winter time and Spring and Summer are very Different. This is the Closest RV Famcamp to Boston
Had a wonderful stay, here! Close to Boston for day trips, and rich in civic and literary history!
Very nice campground. We were lucky to get one of the shaded sites, but it was a bit tight to get into to. Out internet was messed up during the day because you are right next to where the plane take off. But the kids loved watching the planes
Very nice sites. Internet isnt great, but you cant beat the price.
Nice area (except for next to a civilian airport). Bad part is the laundry only has 4 washers and dryers - of those only 2 washers and one dryer works. But we cant beat the price of staying in this area.
No reservations was surprising, but the staff were very friendly and helpful!!!!
Wonderful! One of the best RV parks we have visited. Ann Marie the best hostess ever.
Website says they are open year round but thats false, and they dont answer their phone. We limped in after $1700 of unexpected repairs expecting a place to land, barely made it, no generator, and they kicked us out. They didnt care about what their website said or that they were leaving two veterans stranded. You should be ashamed! Not that it matters, but its my birthday too. Plain and simple, youre a dick. Enjoy being right. Were stranded on the side of the road with several other families who expected a place, too.
Inexpensive, clean & safe. No complaints whatsoever.
Big rigs great for see boston
The camp ground was in desperate need of renovation. Many of the sites had no water. The sewer connection was higher than my rvs discharge. Made for a difficult dumping operation. Also the bathrooms/showers were not as clean as they should be.
First come first serve, no reservations. Terrible WIFI...they oughta be ashamed in this day & age...& a locale known for tech! Showers are grubby & archaic. OK washers/dryers. Right next to busy dual use runway...noisey. Dominated by full-timers in highway leviathans.
Friendly...rules are enforced to everyones benefit. Military (active duty and veterans),and retired only. Nightly community campfire.
Showers not clean or maintained. Tree branches not trimmed thus damaging motorhomes when entering famcamp.
The prices were great, only 1 of four dryers were operational, 2 of four washers were working (we were told that replacements are due in), signs in the bathroom said there was no custodial service.
No frills. Clean sites.
Full hookups, many sites, few washers/dryers. Restaurants nearby. Friendly people. Can store RV.
Noisy
Has what is needed, nothing more.
Great Military Family Campground
