Great park with ample benches, Pavillion covered benches, playground, botanical garden, soccer fields, and main location of the EBR Library - all located on what was once an airport!

Beautiful green space in the middle of town. The Main Branch Library is also here as well as many sports fields maintained by the Parks Department. Its even fairly easy to ride a bicycle to and from here.

The grass surrounding the soccer fields is poorly maintained, and the bathrooms near them are in disrepair. There is a downed tree touching the edge of the field closest to the library as well. However, there is adequate parking and a well shaded bench to sit at near the library. Overall, I prefer Burbank, but its okay.

Makes me happy to be in that wonderful beautiful wife open space with its variety of settings of trees greenery and florals...gazebos and more.

Lots of open space to walk or take a blanket for a picnic or nap. The botanical gardens have a wide variety of flowers, shrubs and native plants. Plenty of benches to sit and relax in the quiet atmosphere. Playgrounds and the library all in close proximity. Excellent for spending the afternoon.

Rose Garden is Nice. Quiet place to sit and think. Park area is nice for the kids.

This park has come a long way in its many years. Now sporting a nice soccer complex, probably the nicest library in Baton Rouge, a beautiful botanical garden, a park for children, a summer water park for all ages and a state police station that makes everything feel very safe. Definitely worth a visit and a place to relax and kick back on a day off if toy want to get out the house.

If you are the type to actually read reviews on community parks, this is the one you’re looking for. Plenty of room to run, playground equipment, restrooms, covered picnic tables, and soccer fields. Plus, it’s an uncrowned area so you won’t lose the kids in a mass of children. Great park!

Ghetto. If your white they will treat you with an attitude. The place is not worth the money. Blue bayou is right down the road and a lot better

I love how they have expanded the building like this. My cousin just had a Gorgeous baby shower there. The views of the best gardens from the huge open floor plan windows was beautiful. I wish I would have taken pictures to post here.

It was good, hadnt been here in a while. For an event, the parking lot is a very good size.

We loved it.. first time coming.. kids had a blast. Prices were reasonable. Lots of seating and shaded areas. Lots of life guards.

This is a large uncrowded park with room to run and play for the children. The adults have a Soccer field to play. The restrooms remain open 24 hours

Probably one of the better kept BREC facilities. The pond is stocked and well kept around the perimeter. All the rest of the facilities are clean and well kept. Everything here is basically the best of the best you can possibly expect from our local Baton Rouge facilities.

Great staff, clean as can be, grandchildren always ask me to take them to the library. I love to spend time with them surrounded by books and welcoming people.

I went here so much as a kid growing up however everything has changed now. They have a botanical garden that is really beautiful and nice to take photos or just sit out. There is also free basic wifi.

I enjoy going to Independace Park. There are many groups who come here to play and teach soccer, football and even workout. The Playground is fun for the children and is near to a beautiful garden which has different ttpes of Flowers. This is within walking distance of the Goodwood Library too. Great location for all ages.

I actually visited the Goodwood or Main Library and the park is a very scenic part of the librarys grounds. The pagodas and gardens that are part of this beautiful scenery are easily viewed from the library entrance. The chairs and tables that surround the library entrance enable experiencing the many attributes of the park, from there. The nicely kept lawn, shrubbery, and flowers, walking trail, etc., can be quickly accessed from this vantage point as its just a short distance. Its a tranquil, enjoyable sight and I plan to partake of it up close soon.
