Today was the scheduled time for the distribution of face shields, hand sanitizer, smoke alarm, etc. Such kindness was shown to me and as a result I was able to bless other Seniors. Thank you Mr. A. Squeaky Kirk for all that you do for our Youth, Community, etc.

Helping the community

I took my son to this rec center for an event called Maryland Gone Wild. There were wildlife educators there with a few of their wildlife animal friends. Upon entering the building it seemed small, that was until the educators brought two large camels out. The space we had to move around seemed a little tight with the other families moving around as well. That was my first time inside that rec center so Im not sure if a larger room could have been available or if the room we were in was the largest room. This rec center is not as visible to a passerby as most rec centers are so Im happy this one was used for this event.

The rec center is actually named, the Ruth M. Kirk Recreation Center. Named after Ruth M. Kirk, by her son, the founder Arthur “Squeaky” Kirk. We had a great time doing a back to school drive for the children in the neighborhood.

A safe place for kids after school to get help with homework and other things. They really help out the community with good and clothes drives and a million other things for the people in our community. Most families would struggle a lot more of it wasnt for the help provided for them. Carlose and Squeaky do all of this without any pay or looking for anything in return other than keeping these kids off the corner and Im the books. They truly are God sent to help their community.

Wonderful staff dedication to keeping kids off the corner. I grew up at this rec and Im glad to be able to share this with my own children. Carlose has dedicated his time to the neighborhood children. He goes above and beyond. Not only does he help the kids but our community as well!!!!

I love what Arthur Kirk is doing for the community. MLK Rec is a great asset. Its vital to the neighborhood and its a safe haven for children.
