Great place to walk the dog or stroll with a friend. I love to watch the changing seasons here — always something beautiful to enjoy! The sound of the creek is so relaxing. Poison ivy and rare native weeds are in splendid abundance! The rock itself is a fascinating geological specimen worthy of extended study! You WON’T be disappointed.

Traveling in from Australia, we were looking for top nature spots in the US and planned our route accordingly. This was the second stop on the trail, and boy were we impressed! Not since The Mini Woodshed did we find ourselves so at one with nature. Id highly recommend this for anyone, and will be including this in my memoirs for sure!

Such a delightful spot!  The rock was not as giant, or as... well... slabby as Id anticipated, but it suited my needs perfectly.  The perfect oasis complete with calming gurgling stream sounds to soothe the rush of urban life.  Ive taken many wonderful strolls along here with a good friend.  Highly recommend.

One of the finest rock slabs my family has ever visited. Being rock slab fanatics, we have traveled extensively across the country in search of new and exciting rocks slabs. Winter Run Rockslab did not disappoint! It was well worth the treacherous journey through Baltimore city to reach this fine oasis. The mosquitoes were plentiful as promised and the rock was nicely shaped. We will definitely be back again!

One of the best vacations weve ever taken - the Giant Rockslab is like an oasis in the middle of the concrete jungle that is residential Baltimore. Having a place to rest (I recommend directly on the slab itself) while listening to the creek, and watching the birds fly overhead, was just the respite we needed. A pleasant time will be had by all - definitely take the kids.

I was participating in a Rock Across America tour, and this was the last stop on my journey. This was hands down the best stop on the entire tour. Ive seen tiny pebbles, enormous boulders, and several pet rocks, but this Giant Rockslab puts all other rocks to shame.

An excellent place to enjoy one of nature’s finest sloped rock chairs. At a shallow downward angle, the Rockslab provides the passerby with a unique sitting experience that can even be felt up to a half hour after the initial rest.

The greatest little hidden location! The rock was a little smaller then we expected but it was still a super fun trip for the kids. The location is also dog friendly which is a big plus.

If what you seek is a mid-size boulder near a stream in a residential urban neighborhood, look no further. Pleasant water noises if you listen closely (plus traffic sounds); occasional bird and deer sightings; ongoing stream cleanup opportunities. No amenities.

The existential experience exemplified. It makes you question everything. Is it giant? What is giant? Is it a rock? What, truly, is rock? What is it to say, to experience, You rock? And, slab? Dont even get me started! You must come experience the Giant RockSlab. Keep an open mind.

A shady little space for a respite. Listen to the creek babbling and the insects buzzing, the birds chirping and squirrels playing. The rock is nice and cool to sit on for a few minutes’ break and it’s super convenient. Highly recommend.

A little known fact - the phrases “You rock” and “Rock star” were coined by visitors to this location who felt that the highest praise is a reference to this geological marvel.

If what you want is a rock next to a creek that sometimes has warnings about being contaminated by sewage then this is the place to be! Other than that it offers a beautiful view of everyone passing by so you can keep tabs on the neighbors and their social distancing

To me, the Giant Rock slab epitomizes Baltimore itself. Mysterious with a tough exterior.
