Its the place where the life of the great Babe Ruth began. How could it not be awesome?
Babe Ruth! An American baseball giant. I had a spare couple of hours in Baltimore and discovered I was minutes away from Babe Ruths birthplace. It is a small intimate museum. I was thrilled to see his autograph on baseballs and also some of his bats. I learned some interesting things about the man and his life.
This is a small museum, but it seemed to cover a lot of Babe Ruths life, highlights, and accomplishments. Theres even a small gift shop with souvenirs. Admission is $10. Located very close to Oriole Park at Camden Yards, you could visit here after touring Camden Yards. They make it easy. Theres a trail of painted baseballs on the sidewalk. Just follow the trail or cheat and use Google Maps or MapQuest.
This was an excellent historical and learning experience for our family. We have driven to experience this museum several times from Lancaster, PA. Though this is a smaller museum, they have a decent amount of baseball and Babe Ruth memorabilia and exhibits. The exhibits are well designed, full of information, and many displays feature multimedia are interactive aspects.
Babe Ruths childhood home turned into a Museum. It is really cool that the ball park was built very close to his home. It is a must see for a baseball fan.
Nice area well preserve. I Had a great experience going to the museum and keeping up with not only american culture but keeping up with american history. I good place to visit if you are in the neighborhood.
Great small museum devoted to the history of the greatest player to ever play the game of baseball and the teams that play in Baltimore and the state of Maryland! You can and will learn so much and be entertained at the same time.I would suggest parlaying a trip to Camden Yards with a visit to the museum.Neighborhood parking and recently handicap accessible!A must see for any serious baseball fan!
On a baseball trip to an Orioles and Yankees game with a Yankee fan means this sightseeing detour was a must! Die hard fans will love every piece of memorabilia and information. There are recordings and a quick film in one room. You see actual items owned by Babe and his family in their actual house. Even casual fans will enjoy themselves and learn something. We walked so no parking info. The whole visit, plus gift shop, was about an hour. We self toured. The price is very reasonable.
Nice to visit the house. Lots of repetitive signage. Wedding dress on display does not match photo. Makes I e wonder about authenticity.Worth stopping in.
Nice little museum. Anyone who is a fan of baseball in general or Babe Ruth in particular would enjoy it. As others have said, its small so you can see everything in an hour or less.
Anyone who is a fan of baseball or sports in general should stop in for a visit to this museum. You can spend between 1-2 hours looking around at the history of The Babe. Pretty close to the Orioles Stadium so no excuse not to go.
Very cool museum, lots on local sports
The exhibits are very well put together and the atmosphere is amazing even if your a novice baseball fan you will leave this place well informed about the legend of Babe Ruth from his humble beginnings to his meteoric rise to fame
Nice museum a short and easy walk from Camden Yards. Good history of Babe Ruth’s childhood and early days in Baltimore with autographed balls and historical items. The house has been restored well. Doesn’t take too long to go through, might be too short for the price, but good discounts for kids, seniors, military and still a great tour for the diehard baseball/Babe Ruth history fan.
Really enjoyed this little museum. Located a short walk from Camden Yards, it is a perfect place to hit up before an Orioles game (they have extended hours on Orioles game nights). Good overview of the life of Babe Ruth, a collection of items from his career, and a restored room where he was born.
If you are interested in the sultan of swat, this is a must. If you are not that interested in baseball history, this is maybe not for you. Two levels of artifacts and stories including some cool audio of the babe himself.
My husband and I recently moved into the neighborhood where Babe Ruth was born which was exciting for us. We watched movies and videos about Babe Ruth especially since my husband was not a big baseball fan and I was already familiar with his information. We decided to check out the Babe Ruth Birthplace museum and we were very excited. That excitement was met with a racist encounter with one of the museum workers within the first 5 minutes of us being there. He followed my husband around the museum and was asked several times if we needed help. My husband just happened to be the only person of color in the museum at the time and all the other visitors where allowed to look at the sights without harassment. Being new to Baltimore and learning about one of the cities own heroes should not have been such a negative experience but we still think Baltimore is a great city just with a few bad eggs.
Great historical place with self guided tour. Not expensive. Worth visiting if youre in Baltimore.
I didnt get this place. I paid a fee to see and learn about Babe Ruth and all I got was a video mostly about patriotism. Hmmm, I dont recommend this place.
Very nice and informative museum. Its within walking distance of the ball park which makes it very convenient. On game days they stay open late.
Great experience! I learned how the national anthem became the song we play and stand before every game! When we walked in a gentleman walked up and gave us a brief description of the birth and life of Babe Ruth which was full of great information.
A great place to visit if you like baseball or history. There is a ton of information and things to look at. I did report on babe Ruth when I was a kid and I still learned a ton of new information. It can get a little crowded FYI. The gift shop is a little lacking.
Of course being the birthplace of The Babe, I wasn’t expecting this place to be huge. They did a fantastic job of fitting as much history as they could into the small brick building on two floors, including a reproduction of the room Babe Ruth was born in.There were some fantastic artifacts here from The Babe’s career, including an expansive collection of bats and autographed baseballs. Also a couple of items from after the babe, like the 1983 World Series Trophy on loan from the Orioles. Also The Babe’s posthumously awarded Presidential Medal of Freedom.
This is a great place and a great way to get a good sense of the babe and his life and accomplishments. Knowledgeable docents really make the experience complete. I actually return fairly frequently.
Cool little museum!!
Great museum in the heart of Baltimore. Lots of memorabilia and photos. $10 gets you in and you can take as many photos as you wish.
Small museum but still a good one if you are a baseball fan.
It is a bit expensive for a family of 5.A litte interesting. I wont go again.
It was a good way to spend an hour, I wish the museum was more geared towards Ruths childhood and upbringing, and less about his accomplishments as a professional baseball player.
Interesting place to visit and a short walk from the Inner Harbor and ballpark. Worth a visit if you are nearby.
We really enjoyed it. Lot of information. Originally from Boston....he gave us fits for years!!! Happy to break the curse!! The movie very good.
Lived in MD all my life and never visited. Great place. Inexpensive admission fee.
Very cool! Loved reading about Babe Ruths first home run during his Spring Training in Fayetteville (my hometown), NC in 1914!
Lots of good facts and good presentation. Pretty good representation of a great mans life.
Amazing! Our 5 year old son loves Babe Ruth he had a great time and the staff was extremely nice and respectful.
What an honor to see where an American hero grew up. Well worth visiting.
Very detail thorough museum Berry customer friendly tour guide are you experienced lot of pictures and memorabilia and stuff like that very well worth the $10 addmission
The guides are very knowledgeable, interesting & animated thoroughly enjoyed the interaction. House set up so authentic and lots of info there - even our 7 year old grandsons were enthralled by it all. A definite must see.
A wonderful place to visit for anyone that is a baseball enthusiast.
Another “I’m not a die-hard baseball fan” but this little birthplace/museum is a true hidden gem in Baltimore. I happen to hit it during Dollar Days weekend in December where a lot of the key attractions in Baltimore were only 1$, but I’d gladly had paid the normal cost of admission. Lots to see, and a lot of history here, so take your time and browse through it all. The short 7-minute film “The Star Spangled Banner in Sports” was very interesting and well worth watching. And the gift shop is loaded with great souvenirs. This is well worth the visit!!!
A wealth of knowledge about the Great Bambino tucked away in a quaint house
Relive the life of Babe Ruth. Walk through the house where he was born. Lots of memorabilia
A little disappointing. It is very small and has a lot of signed baseballs. A uniform or 2 but dont plan to stay more than 45 minutes.
Interesting museum full of Babe Ruth and baseball artifacts! Great knowledgeable staff that are passionate about what they do! A must see stop on a Oriels Gameday. Pick up a Baby Ruth bar while youre there!
Excellent visit to the museum!! The staff was extremely knowledgeable and accommodating.
Small but nice! Not much left of the original home/birthplace but lots of memrobilia and facts. Spent about 45 minutes to an hour there. Depends how quickly you read. Visited with a Yankees fan and was our first time there so worth the trip. Had a Groupon so admission was less expensive.
Great place if youre into baseball history
Very cool place to have an event or small get together.
Small museum but cool memorabilia. Not far from the park (theyre open later on home game days) so its worth the short walk. Also not very expensive plus we got a Groupon so we paid even less. Definitely plan on stopping in!
Love the museum and its done well with lots of original audio! Staff was not friendly or welcoming at all!!!!
Very clean and well done. 45 minutes takes you through it. Interesting artifacts. Use groupon to buy discount tix.
Great place to visit. Very creative with what they were able to with such a cozy space.
Very cool place and I got usefull knowledge from here.Good place to take your kids too. This is a great to know about different story, as well as different cultures from all over the world.
Its his actual house, so be prepared that it is tight in there! But a wonderful collection of baseball memorabilia about the Great Bambino himself.
Very cool little museum. Short walk from downtown, inner harbor.
Just watched one of the employees walk out at 4:53. Im very upset that we were rushed out before the closing time. While the bits we saw for the 5 minutes we were there were nice, make sure you know the hours. They are only open late on EVENING home games, not afternoon games too. Thats not what we were told and while I should have double checked, the employees seemed annoyed when we showed up. We traveled from Texas to see this and Im very disappointed in our experience.
Any baseball fan will enjoy the history of a great player!
AWESOME place very loving environment, we came all way from jersey
Really cool little museum. A must see.
Nice place. Friendly staff. Fun exhibits. $10 admission seems a little steep. But great stop for any baseball fan.
Great little hidden treasure inside the city of Baltimore. Not a very big place but really need to visit and very well-maintained. Parking is a short walk away but easy to access from the main roads
Pretty tiny museum but not too bad for the price. Somehow the staff wasnt too friendly to me but I guess its more of a Baltimore thing.
Great deal of baseball history.
This is a must stop for any baseball fan. This museum is more than a tribute to Babe Ruth, it is a tribute to a wonderful era of baseball that must not be forgotten.
Im not really a fan of professional baseball, but this diminutive little house turned into a museum, is very well done. You may gain some insight into the man and better appreciate what he accomplished in his fairly short life.
This is a great little museum. It is a must visit for any baseball fan. It would be a 5 Star if the museum was bigger.
Want to know Babe Ruth? They got everything about Babe!!
Nice little place to visit.
This is a very nice little museum. And it is a little Baltimore townhouse that has been revived and turned into a museum to commemorate the birthplace of Babe Ruth. Its privately-run, so there is a $10 entrance fee but I think anyone interested in baseball will certainly consider that a small price to pay to see a genuine bit of history. I guess more than a dozen people would be a crowd for this little museum. Fortunately its located on a quiet side street just west of Camden Yards by a few steps, so its an easy walk to or from an Orioles game. Plan on a half an hour to 45 minutes to explore the little house and the museum displays inside. And to extend the history a little bit, there is some archaeology you can find on the web to indicate that the location of Babe Ruths fathers saloon now lies somewhere below centerfield in Oriole Park.
A hidden Jem! Worth price of admission
Super small. Cool. See if you can get a discount with your hotel room card
A small museum dedicated to babe Ruth not that much to aee
This is a neat place to visit. If you want to see a piece of baseball history, stop in and check this out. The baseball bats and and signed babe ruth baseballs were worth the trip for me. Dont expect a long visit, the museum isnt that big. I spent about 45 mins here.
$10 to visit so we chose to look at the small gift shop instead
Great way to learn about the life of Babe Ruth.
Great place to know about this USA idol.
Lots of history and great baseball stories from some of the greatest in the game.
Interesting but difficult to locate without help.
If you love baseball you must visit here before you die!
I enjoyed the museum and all the exhibits. I especially liked the Star Spangled banner film and the tie-in to the Babe
Great place lots of history.
Lots of interesting displays including fixed, video and audio media. Allow at least 90 minutes to take everything in.
Really small, really awesome museum. I never learned so much about The Great Bambino before going there...and im not even that big of a baseball nerd but i LOVE history
Lots of history in this place.enjoyed visiting.
Great before a game
Nice place to visit if you likes baseball and you are in town!!
Very well done
Reasonable prices with discounts for seniors and AAA. Very informative history about Babe Ruths birth place.
Small museum but very interesting if you like baseball history. Well worth a visit to see the house where Ruth was born and collected artifacts.
Well priced, but best to go when there is no Yankee-Baltimore ball gm. Place is small.
Must see! Not unbelievable but yes I recommend it
Very small place, does not provide anything we Dont already know or have already seen from the sultan of swat. Disapointed. Maybe my expectations were too high. Parking is very difficult to find in adjacent streets.
Cool little place. Informative workers
It wasnt bad, but was hoping and expecting more things to see and do. Worth checking out if in the area, but wouldnt suggest going out of your way to see.
A small museum with a lot of cool stuff in it.
Very detailed museum with tons of relevant context for Babe Ruth & baseball fans alike. Call to see if they are open, as google is typically wrong about these things.
This is a hidden gem near Camden Yards, a must-see for any baseball fan. I thought I knew a lot about The Babe, but I learned a few things during this visit (no spoilers here!). A few components of the visit seem dated and could use some freshening, but its clear the museum is working on a small budget.
