Great park for hiking, swimming, sunbathing or just relaxing on a raft. Large area is buoyed off from boats so it is the safest place to swim on lake Travis without the worry of being hit by a boat or jet ski. The shore of the lake in this park is limestone rock. When the lake level is low it can be difficult to get to the water without rock climbing. Introduction of zebra mussels several years ago requires individuals to use caution when getting in and out of the water. The zebra mussels are very sharp and will easily cut your hands, feet or skin. Use of water shoes is highly encouraged, as well as watching where you sit or put your hands. Entrance fee is a bit pricey, at $8 per person. This park is the only public park in Texas where nudity is allowed, but only for those 18 or older. Pets and glass containers are prohibited.

The turn sneaks up on you if you arent watching for it. Also, they only accept cash or check at the entrance for a pass. Come on a day with moderate overcast for perfect solace. There are two trails/ paths. Dont take the left one that goes up along the mountain if you have issues with cedar. That path is full of the stuff. The path on the right next to the service entrance gate l follows the coastline by the water. There are also restrooms along the path (thank gawd). To get close to the water I think #8 is the best stairway to take along the trail.

I absolutely love this place! It’s clean with gorgeous views. I met some really great people & had a blast in the water. Be careful with the rocks in the water as some may cut you like it did to my friend and I but it’s totally okay, it was a minor cut and it’s now my little permanent souvenir haha :) I can’t wait to go back when it finally reopens! :)

Not bad. Everyone basically has their own crowds to hang with. If you there by yourself its a bit awkward as the older men just kinda walk around sight seeing. Good spot though nice swim area.

I went there with my partner and we loved it. You get to experience a very different atmosphere. Mostly open minded people. Fresh water to swim, and you can also dive on some parts. I definitely recommend this place to you(adults of course) if you want to enjoy something completely different. You don’t have to get naked if you don’t want to. BUT keep in mind this is a nude beach.

The covid restrictions at this park are ridiculously strict. People who travel here from Texas dont like to be told you cant come in due to some ridiculous 20% capacity rule. Fix these restrictions and allow more people in.

Li
Review №7

The best place in Texas to be naked outdoors and mingle with folks of all ages who enjoy the same freedom. Most participates and only a few keep their clothes on. Parking cost is high to keep the place from being too crowded. Get there before noon on holiday weekends because once the lot fills up they will not let you in until someone leaves. There are restrooms available but no food services so pack everything you need (including a cooler). Bring sturdy shoes to wear on the rocks and for going into the lake.

Its a good place to enjoy the warm and sunny Texas weather! Bring shoes as the limestone is not friendly for even tough feet and the climb can be steep in certain spots. The people range from respectful and reserved to respectful and sociable. The only annoying thing is the occasional boater will holler and make noises as they pass. More people go nude towards the end of the park.

Neat place for some adult-only sunbathing. Best suited (or unsuited shall I say, LOL!) for couples and singles who are mature enough to handle nudity. Most folks go bare, but not all do...it comes down to your comfort level. Lake Travis is a warm, yet refreshing lake outside of Austin. Make sure you bring waterproof, protective footwear, as zebra mussels have gained a foothold along the shoreline and they cut your feet easily. Overall, quite laid back.

Its an interesting place...clothing being optional, the trail is basically a fire road with detours to go down to the lake, not very scenic as this is a pretty ugly part of the lake, total hike down and back up is about 45 minutes. Protected swimming.Plenty of restrooms as well as security, good parking, $15 entrance fee.

My wife and I visit Hippie Hallow at least a few weekends each summer. Its a long drive from Dallas just to go there but we do anyway making a weekend of it and enjoying Austin night life. The place is clean, its safe, weve never been bothered. Of course there are some walkers with dark glasses kind of taking in the sights but thats understandable. My wife seems comfortable and I am as well. We have actually made some friends out there and shared the same tanning area. Its a fun and relaxed place. Its always a good practice to be non judgemental as youll see all sorts of body shapes and sizes. We usually carry a cooler with food and drinks, funny alcohol is allowed but you can not display it. Listen and be forewarned, it can be dangerous walking down to the Waters edge, notice I didnt say beach. Its very rocks and finding a flat spot can be a challenge. Just be careful, you do not want to fall down, especially in the buff!!Thank you Austin Texas for allowing this to exist. Austin, the heart beat of Texas!!Oh, theres and entry fee, and it does often reach capacity meaning youll be turned away!! Get in early on a beautiful day.

Great place! 18+ only. Clothing optional, however, the majority were naked. So, if nudity isnt your thing, this place might not be for you! $15 entry fee per car. The ticket allows you entry to other sections of the lake for the day. I believe the parks are open 9am- til dusk. Drinking is permitted but may not be in glass bottles and must be covered. No life guard on duty, so be cautious of that. Be sure to wear good walking shoes as its a bit of a hike/climb down to the lake! I had no issues with pervs. Even while by myself. Everyone was friendly! Once you get over the initial shock of seeing and being seen, it feels completely natural. However, you can report lewd behavior to the police. I personally only saw one guard, and he was in the parking lot haha. I have read multiple reports of people being arrested, so definitely dont risk hanky-panky here. Only complaint would be the litter. It kind of took away from the charm. Although,I dont blame the park for lazy adults not cleaning up after themselves!!! If you bring your usual lake/beach material, and an open mind, youll have a great time. Will definitely be back! :)

Visited for Memorial Day weekend and got naked on Lake Travis! No insecurities or judgements at this County Park. Disabled Veterans, with proof (Disability papers and/or Medical ID), get a $5 pass/window decal to use every time you visit. Glass isnt allowed but cans are that have coozies on them. Staff Security is always watching and on guard to prevent any lewd acts or criminal michief. Water is clean and people leave you alone so this is a good place to go when you want to relax and be privately secluded while naked. Bathrooms are nearby, as well, and although the shore is rocky, the stairs going down and the rocks are pretty safe. Bring a big towel and/or fold out chair! Floaties, noodles, and donut tubes seem to be popular here. Bring a life jacket if you cant swim or arent a strong swimmer because there are no life guards.

Hippie Hollow is not a beach. There is no sand. It is more like a quarry with rocky formations that need to be navigated to get to the water. But the rocks are often flat and level so the sunning areas are more than adequate. I do recommend bringing water shoes and a thick yoga mat, in addition to towels. Pack a cooler with your lunch and your favorite beverage (alcohol is allowed) and youre all set. Dont forget the sunscreen!

Nice place to get away from the crowds of families and children at other lake access spots! It’s a little rocky, but I really didn’t mind. It’s not a direct walk in beach type of park, so if you don’t wanna hike a short way down some rocks (or see some nudity) then you should pass on this place. However, I had a great time and will definitely be coming back! I just wish it was dog friendly, if it was I would definitely be a regular!

It is awesome that Austin has a government sanctioned nudist beach. It is unfortunate that it is heavily patrolled by rangers who want to ticket you for any sort of human touching that might be construed as a turn-on. While the steep rocky beaches are kind of cool, it is difficult to get in-and-out of the water safely. BTW, did anyone mention that it costs $15/car to get in!
