Great direction by Ken Webster and great acting in the play Death Tax which I just witnessed tonight. All the performances that Ive seen there I would have highly recommended! Intimate stage and small audiences really bring live action to the fore!
Terrific theater different shows throughout the year. Everything is well done
I did the short fringe there and the Staff was great I highly recommend it
Cozy, intimate theater space that puts on thought provoking and timely plays. Great community space.
This is a small intimate theater. The performance we saw was first rate show by Will Eno. This was my first visit but I plan to return.
Local live theatre. They pretty consistently pick good material, and are an Austin mainstay. Designers regularly think of new ways to make this very intimate space over into different locations. The true heart of Austin live theatre is in the smaller, insistent, determined companies that do theatre their own way. Any tour of Austin theatre that left this company and venue out would be incomplete.
Really neat place. I got married there and had the reception across the street at the pizzeria everyone loved it.
Quaint garage theater with 2 sides of seating, a communal bathroom and small foray. Beer and wine by donation. Very pleasant experience.
Saw Antipodes here. The theater was intimate and lively. The cast did a phenomenal job. Overall it was a great performance annnndddd I will gladly return to see more shows here.
Fantastic, intimate little theatre. Saw a very funny and powerful show by Street Corner Arts. Highly recommend
A small, unpretentious theatre located in a suburban neighbourhood, with surprisingly good quality productions: Short Fringe Festival plays (the annual Frontera )Fest, Tony Award-winning productions among others, and very good value for money.
So we went to see the song about himself. The space is super trendy--the focus is on the art itself. The acting was superb and the directing phenomenal. There was some technical parts that were done exquisitely. We will definitely be there for another performance
Wonderful director. Eclectic selections of shows. Easy location to find and park near. Friendly people.
I love going to this place. Nearly all plays are thoughtful, dark, and often disturbing. I appreciate the pay-what-you-can Thursday shows and the personal reservation service. Great vibe at this unique theater, and all seats are good seats.
I have never disliked a show this wonderful theatre has put on
I love performing arts and having this Theater in my neighborhood is a blessing! Great titles, great performances and excellent host, Kent who has been running the theater for over 20 years.
Love this place! Small theater in a cool neighborhood. Parking available in the neighborhood. Great theater, check it out for some local talent. Beer and wine available.
Very small (80 seats?) Good acoustics but minimal ammenities. Nice format (half round/square), which makes for better audience interaction.
Awesome little place. I attended a memorial there, it was hilarious, a bunch of laughs. Definitely will go again!
My husband and I saw Port Authority last night and were thrilled with the experience. The play was wonderful and the acting by the three actors superb. My one and only negative comment is that the theatre was absolutely FREEZING. It was so cold that when we departed, everyone who left with us commented about how wonderful the Austin night felt. And it was still a very hot July evening, but after sitting for 90 minutes in such a cold place, it felt so good to experience the heat and humidity of Austin in July. Please warm up the theatre so that the experience will be even more outstanding than it was.
Small theater, no bad seats. Free parking at back of the lot across the street. The shows are always a gamble - sometimes very good, sometimes. . .
Home to Hyde Park Theatre and resident companies Street Corner Arts and Caputal T Theatre, this intimate, unassuming building houses some of the consistently best theatre in Austin.
I can not recommend the Hyde Park Theatre enough! All of the productions that I have enjoyed here have been excellent and surprising in their own ways due to great theatrical selection and over all a superb knot of talented actors. Thursday shows are pay-what-you-can - do it.
Great theatre, small space, and I highly recommend shows by capital T theater and shows directed by mark pickel .
It is my favourite theater in Austin. Artistic Director Ken Webster is a masterful artist.I just love this place !!! They consistently showcase amazing theater productions. They also support local artists and groups. The annual frontera fest is based in this theater.
Seats not to comfortable. Players were outstanding.
Frontera Fest was great.
Ive only heard of this place, but it is cozy and intimate.
Great old space with new and fresh theatre happening there all the time. A great Austin locale!
Great local gem. Intimate place to see good theatre.
Excellent theatre for contemporary plays and of course Frontera Fest
Very tiny theater, so be prepared to get close with your neighbors. The festival was interesting, and they did well with the lighting and sound.Chairs were a bit uncomfortable for such a long sit.
The kind of theater where you can truly experience the performance because its so intimate.
