Though a small theatre, its great to be a little closer to the action! I cant imagine there is a bad seat in the whole place.

Chill, relaxed vibe. I like that it does not take itself too seriously. In other words it is not pretentious at all. Finding it can be tricky as it is located behind a number of buildings and the signs were easy to miss; at least for me. If you like an intimate theater experience, this place is for you. Oh the prices arent bad either.

There is a reason this is called the ground floor theater. The settings are spartan but functional. Modest seating and stage but the production was enjoyable. The difficult part is finding it! It is tucked in amongst some warehouses or something? However, if you are interested in the production, I would recommend going to it. Theres nothing wrong here - its just not opulent.

Small theatre situated in a nice complex. Its behind the bouldering place, and when facing it theres a tunnel to the left. Follow it straight back, and its at the end of hall on the right.

I love this place and the shows it put on.

I love GFT and how inclusive, accepting and flat out wonderful it is. Lisa runs it smoothly and works with you to.get your show on the stage. Shes a true gift of the theatre. This theatre is a gem and if you havent been there yet, you must go.

Parking is a little tricky, but the website for the theater is a good guide. Its in a good location. You can get a meal from a food truck nearby, you can get beer or cider or coffee, all within walking distance. Its a really cool spot in East Austin. Ill go back soon.

This theater produces quality plays with important subjects. The acting was great, the set designs and lighting impressive and the staff friendly and welcoming.

I love this theater. They always have something unique. Last play I saw here was “Some humans were harmed in the making of this show”. Humorous and serious about the cruelty of capital punishment.

Local theater with a heart and soul. My wife and I, last night, went to the play, “there and back“, and thoroughly enjoyed it. What a terrific depiction of the immigrant experience. It was emotional for those who have lived it and educational for those who haven’t. Thank you to the entire cast for making this possible as well as all of the stage hands who helped make this a success. We also appreciate the substantial effort that people in our community have made to create such an intimate setting for community theater. It was comfortable, affordable, and had reasonably priced beverages and treats. We look forward to attending on a regular basis.

Cool little place hidden on the eastside.....ppl. there are cool. . nice spot to work. and theres a little rock climbing practice place next to it . looks like good place to take the kid.

To find it: looking at the front door of Austin Bouldering project, head to the left and take the first right to walk through the commercial looking buildings. Currently there is some construction going on with a big yellow wall on the left, they are across from the yellow wall and there is a sign on the door. Cool, small, theatre... a little tough to see from the back. Shows are usually first come, first seated, so get there early. Friends and Allies brewery and Austin EastCiders are next door (sane parking), so its easy to grab a drink before and after.

Such a wondrous theatre with wonderous productions!! The actors are fantastic and the whole show design is amazing. Very comfortable and fantastic in every way!

Theater for all, regardless of ability to pay. GFT is dedicated to making theater accessible to everyone featuring stories about underrepresented groups. Its a beautiful mission with stories being told that you may not get anywhere else.

Crime and punishment is a must see this season. All productions at ground floor theater are high quality and worth the trip to this convenient located production company.

I haven’t been back to The Ground Floor Theatre since the refurb but I must say how nice it is! It looks perfect and ready for lots of great shows! I’m very excited for its return as a quality venue.
