The IMAX theater was clean, and the acoustics were excellent. It IS Sept 2020, so I have to comment on their distancing protocol which was very well thought out. They had spacing between parties, a lot of active staff to usher customers, and lots of guidance on masking and movement through the place. Our seats were assigned as we arrived in the theater, rather than being reserved before showing up.
Ive been here as a trip back in middle school but I cant remember if we watched a movie too or just came to the museum. So Im gonna say this was my first experience and I was not let down one bit! It a HUGE screen, amazing sounds and easily the best visuals Ive seen on a big screen. Ill definitely be back.
I attended an educator Institute at the Bob Bullock Museum. I also attend LBJ Library educator professional development training. I was very excited to see that LBJ was a presenter for civil rights at the White House. Both of these entities providing a professional development for educators is a wonderful experience. I learn how to teach critical thinking skills and strategies for my student as well as different ways in which to reach different learners. Thumbs up to the Bob Bullock Museum. I look forward to having more educational experiences.
Great screen and sound. Basic concessions. No alcohol for sale.
Sorry we didn’t make it there. Next time we visit family we will go there for sure!
The best IMAX in Texas. We saw Star Wars here and it was a very pleasant experience - they played funny cultural bits up front and only two trailers. If youre going to go out for a movie, might as well be as big as possible
The quality of this is amazing.
Had lots of interesting facts about Texas
The 3D movie was entertaining and informative. The temperature inside wasnt too cold or too hot. The volume is adequate. The seats are comfortable and roomy. The staff was perky and pleasant. Definitely will visit this place again.
Cheap IMAX tickets but kinda lacks something on the theater experience. Could have a better snack bar
The laser upgrade make the picture really pop with the always fantastic IMAX sound system
The best place to watch a movie in Austin. No the seats dont recline and Yes you will have to share an armrest with your neighbor but the size of the screen, the amazing picture from the laser projectors and the unbelievable sound system. You just cant beat it!
I love going to this theater. There is never a line and the prices are very reasonable for imax.Save time and order online from their website so they can just scan your ticket and you go in.The parking garage is $10 but since it’s right under the theater it’s super convenient and worth it.Great sound system as well!
The IMAX experience at Bob Bullock is impeccable, and superb. The sound system is clear as if you were there, its intense and full without being too loud. Visuals are the best around, the 3D is the best Ive ever felt. Although all 3D movies are designed to make you feel them, the Bob Bullock brings them to the next level. The theater is always clean and chairs are comfy.
Great theater. Beans years since I had been here, Im glad they finally put in a real concession stand.
Saw Star Wars with a good friend, first time here, awesome experience I love this place
Great theater that recently had its 3D technology updated.
Great experience! Also. I dont know if many people know this, but after movies you can go to the counter and they have posters of the movie on the counter you can keep! Since moving to Austin Ive gone to about a dozen movies and the experience of the Bullock museum Theater beats any of the other theaters Ive been to for sure!
Saw The Rise of Skywalker in IMAX. Best seats to choose from and the same price as any other theater but I should keep this my little secret, heh heh.
I love this place. Huge screen. The seats are not the most comfortable.
The picture and sound blew me away! I am so glad I decided to see new Star Wars movie there.
I love Texas history but I went here for the imax which wound up being a nightmare. Plus I became hungry during the movie and I felt like I needed to find the waiter button to come bring me a beverage and an appetizer. IMAX needs to allow us to eat in theatre they’d definitely get more business from me.
Amazing IMAX theater!! I only wish the had more variety at the snack bar.
One of the greatest places to a see movie!!! Only downside is not a full on kitchen like the Alamo. If your not wanting to “eat a meal” during the movie this is 100% the place to go. Huge screen, great sound quality, and awesome picture quality!!
I love the big star out front.I love this theater. This is a great location.
Small theater, volume not set as expected for the film. But they did have IMAX 3D polar express which I had not seen in several years even though I had been looking for it.
Saw Captain Marvel in a full house screening. GREAT MOVIE!! But why on Earth do you have 3D capabilities but selectively decide NOT to screen in 3D? Because the vendor with the contract is so cheap they cut back on the 3D glasses. $14 a seat, at this premier venue, FULL HOUSE, and youre scrimping on 3D glasses? BREACH OF CONTRACT.I hate giving the venue a low score, as this theater is the gold standard, but you should not give contracts to such cheap vendors at such a flagship location. If youre going to use the top 3D movie theatre perhaps in all of Texas to show 3D CAPABLE MOVIES IN STANDARD, fine...but cut the price to reflect your ill-preparedness on 3D glasses. $5 when the place is jammed (every last seat was sold, no lie!), and you got lucky it was such a great movie that I do not see other complaints (Ive given great reviews for the Bullock Imax venue, as we try to go every time we are in Austin, and will do so again after this mickey mouse vendor is dumped for breach of contract, plain and simple). Seriously, somebody understand the vendor is the issue here, not the theater. Carry some healthier snacks, youll sell more, and more seats in between premieres...and $3 dinky plastic water bottles? The vendor here is the problem 100%. But do go, and well be back. Just next time well ask beforehand and go to a smaller screen if 3D screening is being cancelled over 3D glasses shortages (Id offer a solution, but the cheap vendors need to go; Trumptards must be removed where found).
It was good experience visiting Bullock Museun with my two kiddos. We had great time by watching Frozen 2 and wandering around Texas History Museum. Only one thing that we felt unhappy was parking fee. It costed 10 dollars.
$10 for parking after purchasing your ticket. Movie started at 5, they didnt let us in the building until 5:05 p.m.. No one had gotten concessions yet, the movie started within 10 minutes of the doors opening due to the late seating. Too many people talking during the movie. Go see a movie here only if you care about the visuals and sound and nothing else.
IMAX movies are awesome!
This place is Amazing! Highly suggest! My preferred place to watch movies! Really wonderful, helpful, fun staff! Best projection equipment in Texas.
I finally got a chance to see a movie after the renovations had been made. Other than the uncomfortable seating this IMAX theater is amazing. I dont watch a lot of 3D movies but if youre going to go here. Youll be blown away by the experience.
True IMAX. Sound is great, go here for all major action or visual films. Concessions stand leaves a lot to be desired.
The screen and whole IMAX experience is AMAZING .. but compared to Cinemark Seats this theaters seats suck, they dont move or recline and if you are 65 like myself, you find yourself really wanting more leg room. Come on Bullock Museum, time to change those seats out.
The seats, screen, sound was amazing. A great place to see a movie. No really good food options but the movie experience trumps that fact. First come first seating. A must go to place.
Nice IMAX experience without all the previews or crowds. Excellent sound and comfortable seating, didnt try the concessions. Sunday ticket prices were reasonable.
Movie seats are uncomfortable and parking is expensive. Other than that, cool place.
The best movie screen that Ive ever seen. Eye opening experience.
Loved the real 3D experience.. you have to see to believe it.. other 3D theaters dont even come close to the experience here
The largest imax screen in Texas is a good size, and there arent any bad seats. But there also isnt reserved seating so youll want to show up early and wait in line to watch from the best spots.
The seats are good and the hall is great. Prices are stable and affordable.
Horrible experience. People had their feet on the seats through the whole movie bouncing our seats. Aside from how dirty the chairs had to be from shoes on the headrest could not watch the film because of the constant shaking. Highly unrecommended!
Great to catch a flick. Only wish they had more food options. Saw incredible 2 as a double feature after work one day and really regretted not grabbing dinner before hand. They could have setup some food trucks out front from local vendors.
I went on a wednesday and it was pretty empty. It was Super easy to get tickets and concessions. The popcorn was great. The picture, 3d, and sound was awesomw and well worth the price.
Good place to see a movie.
The kids love coming to the the movie and spend some time at the museum..
I love coming here to watch nearly every movie. The screen is giant, the sound amazing, and seats are comfortable. Highly recommended.
I would give it 5 stars but the seats are out dated, hard and not very comfortable. Cleanliness was Great, popcorn was good but again the seats need to be better-especially for the ticket prices.
I LOVE this IMAX theater! It has become a weekly ritual to see the newest film here on opening night. The screen is GIGANTIC, the film crew makes sure there are no malfunctions that stop the film and the 3D glasses are of higher quality. There is no assigned seating so you need to show up early to get a dead center seat if that is your thing.
Very impressive. Would have given all stars, but thought the PG13 rated preview of a coming attraction was a bit intense for my 4 year old granddaughter
Excellent quality IMAX 3D theater. Screen, sound, seats are all top notch. Theres only one screen though, so showings may be limited. The only other possible complaint is that the parking garage costs money at certain hours, so be sure to check when its free or not. Tip: anyone with any college ID can buy all your tickets at a discount.
Best theater to see an action movie or any movie, clean, comfortable, 3D glasses are always in good condition.
The 5 Stars are for the screen and the movie itself. But, there is literally a Larger more COMFORTABLE theater at the discount movie in Round Rock.HA! Nonetheless, Ill be seeing PREDATOR once at the IMAX.( :
Always wonderful. The 3D documentaries were fun plus so informative. Great photography plus fun special effects. Worth it!
Loved the IMAX screen. Close to the university, so a popular destination for students to watch movies. The thing I did not like is that there is no fixed seating beforehand, and we had to wait 2 hours in line to guarantee us good seats although we booked tickets very early.
Amazing. I was completely blown away. It was awesome.
The Bullock IMAX is an Austin gem! It boasts the largest screen in Texas as well as one of the only theaters in the country with laser IMAX projection. You get all of this in an immaculately kept environment at the bargain price of only $14. This is the best movie-going value and experience in Texas!
Amazing screen. Not reserved seating so you will need go get there early for good seats.
It was fun to see the exhibits before going to a movie
Best theater in Texas!
Very cool theatre, only thing i would say needs a change is the fact that there is only one screen so you have to wait standing in line to see the next movie.
Best place to watch a movie in Texas. Sorry Alamo
A lot of cool history
Great place to take the entire family.
BEST way to watch 3D Avengers: Endgame!
Amazing facility. Great screen and they now have a consession stand to purchase drinks and snacks. The meusum is amazing.
Overall fantastic experience.
Went and saw Captain Marvel here, and WOAH that screen is big. I didnt even know there was a theatre here until my boyfriend suggested we go. I honestly almost felt dizzy because it felt like I was actually in the scenes. I can only imagine what a 3D movie would look like. Other things to note There are no assigned seats, and if you get there late there wont be LED lights on the stairs to guide you, so be careful not to trip.
Best theater in Austin. The screen size, image quality, and sound quality are top notch. The only down side, the do not offer reserved seating, so you have to show up early for popular showings. I recommend at least 1 hour before hand opening week.
Best movie going experience in Texas
The upside: huge theater! The downside: cant reserve seats and an extra fee for reserving online; go figure.Anyway, if you can get there super early and claim a good seat, expect an amazing experience, with probably the biggest screen youll ever see a movie on and great audio. Unfortunately, they dont have very many showings so this cant really be your go-to movie theater.
Saw iron man and it was a great experience.
Easy to get to, typical prices. Comfortable seating and courteous, professional staff. I enjoy going here especially for matinees. Theres a nifty gift shop and the prices are what youd expect – theyre pretty proud of their stuff, but it is a tourist trap so what would you expect.
Best place watch movie IMAX
Ive never seen more than 6 other people in the theater, and free parking after 5! Do it!
Incredible since the upgrade, truly one of the best theater experiences of my life. The sound quality here is amazing enough on its own to recommend someone check this place out. That combined with one of the best looking screens ive ever seen makes this an easy 5 stars.
I saw the Apollo 11 documentary and cried... 10/10
Great theater. Very well kept. The IMAX laser projectors produce an awesome picture.
This was such a cool place! Im so glad I chose to chaperone my sons field trip, and I cant wait to come back again so I can explore it further!
First time at Imax in Austin tx. King of the monsters ... I am here.
In addition to educational IMAX films. They show first run movies in the evening when the museum closes. (btw, this is a proper IMAX, not one of the new smaller varieties that have begun popping up in theaters.)Great seating and sound. When showing in 3D it is via the nice passive glasses. Concessions are a bit sparse, but popcorn and some basic drinks offered.Best IMAX in Austin hands down..
If you dont see big blockbusters here, youre missing out on the experience of a lifetime. This is among the greatest theatrical experiences on earth, as its one of currently only several IMAX with laser in the world. The screen is the biggest in Texas, constructed from high quality material, the picture is incredibly detailed, clear, and high contrast. 12 channel surround is clear and booming, without being overly loud and drowned out. The price for theatrical films is extremely fair (as much or less than far inferior IMAX theaters), as are their concessions if you snack at movies. They recently upgraded their seats as well, which are sufficiently comfortable and supportive. Seriously, go see a big blockbuster here just once, and youll see the difference.
Great seats, seems clean, great sound
This IMAX theater is awesome. It has the extra large screen that you wont find anywhere else in town. Limited number of movies, but usually has a good selection.
The screen here is amazing and huge, it really puts you into the movie.
Pardon my French but the imax screen is hecking big
Fantastic place to see a movie! Love the 3D here, saw Ready Player One. Only about twenty people in the theater.
We will feel very comfortable here and very fentastic shows
Great fun at the Bullock Museum. The 3D movies are fabulous.
Volume is just a little too quiet but it throws everything off. Once this is changed my 1 will be a 5
Cool Summer Nights is a great thing to do with family or friends or even on a date.
Loved it but need to sit farther back or I get dizzy.
