Nice course but the place is poorly managed. They over book tee times to make as much as possible and it results in extremely slow play (5-6 hour rounds). Driving range is over packed, so packed you will wait for balls to be re-filled and then wait for an opening spot to hit as well. The driving range is also closed on random days and it is not posted on their website so you don’t know unless you call ahead of time or when you arrive. You’re also lucky if you’re able to hit off of the grass vice the mat.

Great course, greens needed a little TLC from so many people playing and not enough ball mark repair. Course gets super packed and youll end up waiting almost every hole, but its a fun course with some of the best fairways around for public courses.

WOW, this place has really gone DOWN HILL since Magnolia Hospitality took over. Range balls are terrible, never any water on the course, never a Marshall, no carts until you tee off and buckle up for a solid 5 HOUR ROUND. I’m not paying $90 to play here ever again. Too bad, Bc it is a nice layout. But the management is just SO BAD

The owner of this course and management provide horrible customer service and dont care about the safety of the golfers. Making golfers ride in a cart with people you dont know during a global pandemic. Clearly putting profits over health of people. I will never spend another dollar at this course or any other course owned by Magnolia Golf.

Home of the 5 hour round!Like the feeling of every shot being your first? Waiting endlessly for the groups in front of you to pick up the pace? Then this is the course for you! A $90 green fee isnt enough to have a Marshal on the course to monitor pace of play, and dont expect Chase in the proshop to care when you call in to let him know the course is backed up.

Course is one of the busiest in Austin. Great track in nice shape. Greens can be a little torn up but thats due to the sheer amount of people playing there. If youre serious about pace of play on the weekends be sure to get an early morning tee time.Shout out to Matt Hardy in the Clubhouse for the exceptional service.

Joined this club back in October 2018 and I cannot begin to tell you what an incredible value & experience that it is. Terrific practice area, great pitching & practice greens & just an awesome staff. As a seasoned businessman I can almost tell you from the time I walk into a business what kind of personnel they have just by the interactions that I encounter. These guys & ladies who work there are ALWAYS in a positive frame of mind, ALWAYS cheerful and always interested in what they can do to help. Scott Cory & his staff of PGA professionals, including Todd & Franklin are awesome. And the outside guest services crew, Rich & Xavier & too many to mention are great guys. And I haven’t gotten to the golf course yet, which is perfect. It’s a great layout, requires you to hit the ball both ways, and is exquisitely maintained.Golf at Avery Ranch is a PLUS PLUS experience. I’d give it 10 stars if I could!

Our wedding day at Avery Ranch Golf Club ended up being quite beautiful and magical thanks to a team effort from multiple parties including myself. We got married in October 2018 and utilized their all inclusive package mainly because we lived out of state. The value is pretty awesome for what you get. Avery was not helpful overall - they are very unorganized and unresponsive. The vendors they partner with are amazing and made the experience better though. I would not recommend Avery for their wedding services simply because their disorganization caused much undue stress for an already stressful planning process under normal circumstances.

Unfortunately they were understaffed for such an event which delayed service and receiving food that was hot.Our server was doing her very best but hampered by crowd size and untested computer system. The Course was in great shape, but the pace of play was really slow. I was walking playing from the tips with three other players and we had to wait at least five minutes at each hole. You could not get a good rythm and it made every tee shot like the first shot of the day. If you dont mind waiting every hole its not a bad place to play if you pay the discount rate but for $91.00 you should not have to wait for anything. I will think twice before coming back.

First off the course conditions were amazing. Second off the pro shop changed our tee time without letting me know. Pro shop also was cocky. Stated they are so busy they like to turn people away. We played with some members and they said how it isn’t worth being a member now since it’s tough to get tee times. Pro shop also changed their time and told them they had other members wanting their time. They had a tournament start at 9am( I teed off at 8). I asked if this was going to mess with us at all. They said no they will play the back 9 then come to front. Well I played the front 9 in 2 hours(4 some) we get to hole 10 and play comes to a stop because of the tournament. We had 2-3 groups in front teeing off on every hole in the back. Would have been nice to have a warning when booking that a tournament was going on. Played close to a 5 hour round did get to play the last two holes due to another appointment.

The course is nice, needs more flowers. The driving range balls seemed like they were from 1980. The balls are all beat up, old, scuffed, and most with cuts. They need new balls like years ago. Also, if youre paying for a round of golf, a bucket of balls should be complimentary, but not with Avery Ranch.

Prices are a bit steep, but if youre willing to shell out the cash, this is a great course to play in Austin. Dont be discouraged when you see your score at the end of the round. This course is one heck of a challenge. Tight turns and not much reward for taking the risk.My favorite aspect of the course were the greens. They were superior to all courses I have played in Austin so far. If you have touch and want to test your abilities - This course is for you!

An
Review №37

Beautiful course that is challenging with the slopes and there are some holes that play long, but playing it several times has made me a better golfer. The fairways are average width, but there is plenty of brush and trees that will punish you if hit a bad shot. Green fees are expensive, but if youre a weekday golfer, you can get a good price at $30-40.I do agree with a couple of the other reviews that the pace of play can be long (on-time pace is 4.5 hours), which is why this place is a 4 star instead of a 5 star rating. The scramble tournaments I played in at Avery took about 6 hours and its rare to see a player assistant there to help speed things up. I usually avoid golf on the weekends in general, so I can imagine golf taking that long. The driving range is in good shape and the short game areas are well maintained, which I usually come for to work on my game. Off the top of my head, the small bucket is $8 and the large one is $13, so the prices are average to the Austin area. The balls are not the heavy-duty ones that affect the ball height and distance, so thats a plus.

Avery Ranch is one of the few non-municipal courses in Austin open to the public, basically a private club which allows non-members to play. As a result, the course is often booked out and extremely busy. This is a challenging course with plenty of sand traps and water features. The fairways and greens are in good shape (better than any municipal course). Carts are in great shape, and the pro shop is friendly. The driving range suffers a bit from heavy use, but should be fine for hitting off the mat.

Avery Ranch has been my go to course for many years, but it just doesnt seem to be run as well as it used to. The last few rounds I have played lasted no less than five and a half hours, with one stretching into 6 hours. The Marshall tells you he is trying to speed things up, but nothing ever changes. It is always this tournament got off to a slow start or we are just stacking up on XX hole. Maybe if you are a member and can afford to go out at 7am, it is better. But if I could afford that, would I play here? Probably not.

The RUDEST staff I have ever met! My husband and I moved our family to North Austin a few years back and we have been member at Avery for over 5 years and finally cancelled our $400+ membership late 2018. The staff is so rude and the course is in horrible condition. It is always so slow and packed and NO ONE fixes their ball marks. The young cart boys are so rude to us when the range machine is out of balls. Even more, Franklin in the Pro Shop used to give lessons to my youngest daughter who is 8 years old and we stopped because she said she felt uncomfortable when Franklin would touch her in uncomfortable places! I cannot express all my concerns in one single review, but I hope everyone sees this review realizes what a horrible course this is to be a part of.

I’ve always liked this course. The last couple years has not treated the course too well, but still in decent shape. Price is a little too much for what you get. This last time we were playing in a foursome and ended the round ahead of our schedule. But prior to the turn we were harassed by the Marshall and even staff from the office to speed up. Which backfired as everyone was then hurried and played worse. The confrontation from the staff was unacceptable.

I came here for a wedding and was guided to the bar area to wait until the ceremony started. They had one bar tender who was drowning on her own. I sat for 15 minutes and was never greeted. Then a group of golfers stood BEHIND me and yelled their order over my shoulder. They were serviced and I was ignored. Pretty rediculous for the golfers to be so rude and the bar tender to be so clueless! Management should know when wedding parties will be there and should have had extra staff available. They lost sales this night for sure!

Awesome scenic view from the clubhouse. Range does suck but I go to play 18 not practice so I dont mind. The staff is pretty good for the most part with the exception of a couple of douchebags but what do you expect it is a golf course.
