Very cool, and super affordable. The train runs every hour on the hour. They have a gift shop which is cool. They are cash only but have an ATM. The ride was scenic and BEAUTIFUL!! Right next to a forest and river. There was a man playing music for us as we drove past and the kids loved it. It goes under a narrow bridge and through the park. Give it a try! Its awesome.

The train is a lot of fun. Cool views of downtown and Zilker Park. There is certainly a lot for both adults and kids to do. The train is extremely affordable and well worth the money spent for the smiles provided for the kiddos. Not sure how fun it would be in the summer heat as the train cars are not covered, but fall is perfect.

Great option for people who want to see Zilker Park/Barton Springs on limited time and/or budget! Tickets are only $3 each and last ~20 minutes. Starts at Barton Springs, follows the water, goes under a bridge, and circles back to a fun little tunnel.Tip: Go early to select your seats, especially if you have 4 in our group. There’s only *one* cart that has two benches that are positioned face to face. All other carts are in rows and fit only 2 people comfortably.

The Zilker Zephyr is a fun ride and good, quick tour of Zilker Park. It doesnt run all the way around the park but it does flank a long stretch along Barton Creek and the river. Our kiddo loved it! So if youre in the area with a little one be sure to check this out. You can always go before or after a dip at Barton Springs Pool!

$4 for an adorable train ride through Zilker park. My son thought it was rad the tracks went UNDER a bridge. We waved to the runners and clapped to the guy playing guitar and harmonica. It felt like a very Austin experience. Oh! And it goes under a bridge through the playground. We waved to all the kids.

Nice park adjacent to lake. Miniature train is the main attraction here. People of all ages enjoy it a lot. Plenty of parking spaces are available in the park. You can also park alongside road in the park. The park is closed at dusk. Very interesting place for the whole family. A must see place in Austin.

Once we finally got on the train, it was fun! Great for the kiddos, and relaxing for the parents. Make sure you get to the train at least 10 minutes before it’s supposed to leave, though! We got to ours right at the time and they had filled up the seats even though we bought tickets. They let us get on the next one, so it was all good. Fun stuff!

We love coming here with our children. The miniature train is awesome (and inexpensive), there’s a playground next to it, you can go for a walk / splash in the river and there’s a food truck to buy lunch. Barton creek pool is paid, but if you’re just looking to get wet, you can splash for free in the river. Just accept before you go that parking can be complicated - to me it’s always worth the joy of being at the park!

This train ride is well worth the price! Its about 20 minutes long and you get downtown views as well as waterfront with a beautiful park landscape. You can see a variety of birds, (including geese, ducks, & swans), turtles, butterflies, fish and squirrels from the train. The friendly people of Austin will wave as you go by. My toddler son loves the train too.

This was great fun. It has a lot more cars than I would have expected, so pulls around a lot of people. Granted many were kids, but there were plenty of adults without kids riding it too, so its a strong little engine. The route is just an out-and-back loop, so you dont get to see as much of the park as I had hoped, but it was still a pretty great ride for the price and our 1-year-old son absolutely loved it.

Train and staff were nice. The view on the ride was mostly fence and the trashed park and clean up crew trying to clean all the trash left from a previous event. If you are in the area your kids will enjoy the ride because it is a train. Maybe the view will be better soon as there seemed to be cleanup and construction.

Great train ride. Ride is about 20 minutes long. Takes you around the park, under a bridge and into a short tunnel. You can see the river and the walking trails. I saw blue jays and squirrels. There are no seat belts on the train so each child should ride with an adult. About 2 people fit on each seat. Tickets are 4 bucks for adults and 3 bucks for kids. Pretty good over all. I would go again.

Review №52

Great for little kids, good view of the park and river. Good value at 3 dollars for adults and 2 for kids, for a 25 minute ride. If you go on a weekday, there isnt usually a crowd. Saturday afternoons are insane, expect to wait for 30-45 minutes in line. Good news is that the playground is just feet away from the depot. Bring two adults, and one can watch the kids play while the other waits in line. They wont sell tickets for one train until the previous train departs (during peak they run about every 30 minutes), so dont plan on buying tickets ahead of time. They only take cash, although there is an ATM near the ticket window. My son gets a kick out of the fact that the park users are always waving at the folks in the train as it goes past. A very friendly atmosphere.

Wi
Review №53

The grandchildren loved the train ride. I recommend that you get tickets early, as they sell out for the later times during the day. The ticket sales are near a playground and also close to the pool, and there are food trucks and trailers, so there are plenty of activities for the kids while you wait. Zilker park is big, so you can have a picnic, bring a kite, walk the dog, see the geese and lots of turtles. Riding a bike or scooter through the park, or jogging or just walking is wonderful. There are restaurants just eadt on Barton Springs Road, if you get hungry or thirsty. Have fun. Enjoy Austin.

The kids love the train ride through Zilker Park. We’ve been riding on the Zilker zephyr miniature train for years. Sometimes the wait could be a little annoying in the heat but it’s well worth it especially if you’re taking a person that may be new to the area, it’s perfect for a family member visiting for the first time. No matter what the kids will go in circles over and over they won’t stop. They love it.

Good time for the toddlers. Parents cant help but love watching their kids enjoy it. Starts on south side of zilker near the pool and travels under barton springs over to the north side of the park. It makes a small loop and backtracks on the same tracks back to the start. Just before you finish you travel through under the playground and through 1 more tunnel. Plan to see a line most days. We got in line at 11am for the 12 o clock train. Adults are $4, kids are $3, & under 2 are free (must ride on adults lap).I did catch a guy taking pictures of the kids in line. I confronted him and he immediately split. I included his picture for everyones saftey. He is the white haired guy in the green shirt. I told the people running the train. They said, he is harmless and just says weird things. I disagree. He was touching kids hats that he didnt know and was getting in their personal space. I was also told that if you see a man on a bike acting specious. Let them know about him ASAP.

It was a living I guess..it was either extremely hot, or excruciating hot most of the time.Id have to take a dip in the Springs in between trains... People werent too happy when the tunnel was closed after a septic truck ran over it and it collapsed... J.J. from Goodtimes rode it once, and Jimmy Buffet used the ATM machine, and I almost ran over Jerry Jeff Walker when he was jogging under the bridge and thought he could beat the train... Oh, and I found out I was gonna be a dad when I was coming around Lou Need point, but that was in the days when it was safe to check your text messages when you were driving a train..
