Walking into the lobby, it was very hot and stuffy inside the building. Signing the waiver was a hassle for me and I was told by the attendant it was complications on their end. When we arrived inside of the room, it appeared dirty and all surfaces were coated in a grungy/grubby film. As we started the room, the attendant informed us a part of the game was broken and we wouldnt need anything from that particular puzzle...turns out we did need it to move forward. Progressing through the game we found 3 more broken puzzles that were vital to our success before we just decided to call it quits. As of this review we have not received a refund .
Weve been here twice and overall have had a good time. In our experience the rooms are a little too disorganized and the flow of the story and puzzles arent the best. Weve done about 35 escape rooms across the US and have noticed that some methods dont work as well as others. One example for this location is the fact they dont use TVs for the hints and time. Instead they give you a walkie talkie which is just one more thing to worry about. They also had no timer in the room... Which to me is pretty significant when you are literally timed on your escape. Over all we had a good time and the room is a little cheaper so the negatives arent as bad. Hopefully they can make some revisions to the way they run and lay out their rooms just to make the experience even better! The next time we are visiting we will most likely try another room!
Second time coming here, and had an amazing experience both times. Walter was a really fantastic operator. He guided us at the hardest parts without giving away answers, and keeping the room challenging. I did School this time and compared to Prison it was slightly easier, but still really puzzling. Will absolutely be coming here again!
We had a fantastic time at Austin Panic Room! We’ve done a dozen or so escape rooms as a team, this one was up there in terms of creativity and fun.Angelica and Cameron guided us through Human Trials, which takes place in the basement of the building - this added to the fantastic creepy atmosphere the room.We will be back to try out additional rooms, thanks APR team!
I LOVE my experience here, especially with Walter as my operator! He was so friendly and into his character, everything felt so real. There were only my girlfriend and I in the room and we managed to escape it with Walters helps.
This was so fun. Zoe was an awesome operator with Austin Panic Room. So glad we decided to do this and join other strangers. It was a great group of people and will definitely be doing this again.
My group did the Cabin Fever room. The room was well pit together and the puzzles were well thought out. I will return to do another escape room with them. We really enjoyed our visit at the Austin Panic Room!
I have done three of the rooms here at Austin Panic Room and all them have been great experiences and super fun! I would recommend this for anyone looking to have a good time and liven up their day! Jake was our guide two out of the three times and he’s great! He was very funny and he made the room more exciting. Overall it was an awesome experience and I’ll definitely be back
Great escape room (Prison Break). Lots of interesting puzzles to figure out, and rooms were decorated well.
Drove all the way from Houston to try this escape room only to come face to face to a locked door and no indication on their website that they would randomly close on a Tuesday afternoon. Called numerous times to the location and never got an answer. Very unprofessional.
Definitely one of the more fun experiences I’ve had in Austin so far! I love puzzles and the Cabin room was so cool. It felt like we were really inside a cabin and solving every clue made us so excited! I want to try the other rooms next time. Thanks Austin for being such a positive guide!
Had a great time, I went with my friends for one of their birthdays and had Jake as an operator. He made the experience greate and enjoyable. Definitely made our night a lot better after we managed to escape with 3 people only. Overall fun place to go.
Neat little escape room with cleverly thought out rooms. Some more thought could be put into some aspects of the game but overall I found it enjoyable! They do need to perform some much needed maintenance on their game equipment though! Several of their locks were completely seized and stuck when we tried to open them. Even when we had the right combination the only way to actually open the lock was to really yank on it after entering in the combination. (Some 3-in-1 oil and elbow grease would solve most of their maintenance problems!)
Had a good time, but I did come as part of a full group of 9.
Me and my group did the Oval Office escape room. It was very fun and exciting, and I recommend it for anyone looking to have a good time!! Jake, our guide, was great!! He was very friendly and helpful, and made the overall experience much better! 10/10, I had an amazing time.
We did the oval room. It was a bit hard but very enjoyable. Austin panic room is a very nice place to visit with a group and they also have discounts for group of 15 or more people. Our guide was also very nice. There is a lot of parking space available for the guests. Totally worth it experience.
My first Escape Room experience. Loved every minute of it! Highly recommend.
Kids had a party and everyone loved it. Great team building activity.
Nice clean place. The game was great.
My whole family did the Oval Office Panic room. Great experience for 7 people! We had Austin Smith for our operator and he makes you feel like youre really in the panic situation.Had a chance to meet the manager Janine while we were heading into our room, she runs a great operation. For any uptight people like myself that are reading this, plenty of free parking in the back and really clean bathrooms!
My family loves escape rooms and we had a blast here! The game masters were awesome and the room was fun and challenging. We will be back for more!
Really good experience, did it with 4 ppl and we solved it right at the end of the time limit. Staff was very friendly.
Pretty fun experience. Did it for a work event and we all had a good time.
I had a lot of fun, felt somehow less professional than other escape rooms I have visited... the performance left something to be desired, and I didnt really feel immersed in the storytelling.
This was a really fun place to go if you wanna win make sure you go with ppl who got brains cause this one is a bit tough but fun, now if you dont care weather you win or lose then yolo go with your friends and have a blast the ppl here are so kind and they make it fun the whole way
Came here for a party with 9 other girls and two adults, super fun, great staff, recommend for parties!
We loved the panic room and had a great experience. Walter did not let us falter. Walter was awesome and help us get so close to solving the Oval Office. The room design is great and to the theme. (The oval office is almost oval.) The puzzles are interesting and solvable. The mechanics and connections kept us interested. We never felt overwhelmed or that a puzzle was unsolvable. If we were a bit lost, Walter was sure to keep us on track. Thank you for the fun! We cant wait to visit again.
Alex S. was amazing! Definitely make sure she helps your group out!
It was awesome! We did the cabin fever. Its perfect for a mid size group of 4-6 people. It was challenging enough but not impossible
Our summer camp organization brought a group of middle/high school students to the Austin Panic Room and they had a blast! They provided a great experience for our group and several of our campers mentioned that it was their favorite part of the week. We highly recommend Austin Panic Room! The team there was professional and courteous, they gave us an awesome adventure! The effort and creativity they put into the rooms inspired our campers to dream big too!
I liked the challenge here. I did the school themed room, and it was fun. I think that to get the lost out of it, you should go in a group of 8-10 friends so that you can solve the puzzles together and divide in teams to get more puzzles done at once, and communicate with each other’s. I think the escape becomes harder if it’s less people or if you don’t work as a team!
Had lots of fun even though we didnt make it out lol the staff gentleman who was in charge of our room was great we even got pictures with him afterwards definitely we would go again and try another room.
This place is great for all ages we took our son which was 16 at the time and him and his friends had a blast. We were able to watch from the other room on iPads which was great. Great team-building experience. Please like if this review was helpful.
Amazing experience, with the friendliest staff and most creative, challenging puzzles. Many other places have repeated gimmicks, but Austin Panic Room uses unique and diverse concepts that push every sort of intelligence to its limits. Walter is the best! He was so friendly and helpful. Thanks for a great experience!
A lot of fun! Even if you dont escape it is very enjoyable and provides a lot of fun! The rooms are pretty challenging and really make you think, but in a good way! Very exciting and definitely recommend checking it out!
Fun rooms in a cute house
Jake did an awesome job of giving us the escape room rundown!
Super fun!! Got to do the Phase 3 room with some friends and was impressed by the set up! Great for team bonding or just a fun night out with friends. Definitely challenged how we worked together and communicated with each other! Would definitely recommend! Eric Hung was our operator and he was very helpful! 10/10 would do again if I could.
The excitement leading up to the prison escape was awesome! We decided to handcuff ourselves and let the fun begin, little did we know about 20 min in the had the wrong key to a wrong lock that made one set of our group (mine) reunite with our other group. We had to ask for help, which was quick and courteous. With the time we spent trying to get reunited we could have made it out in time (two min too late). Overall its a great, clean, fun place but the staff needs to check and recheck all the locks!
It was really fun. Best to go with a group (you are allowed up to 10) that communicates well. There are small puzzles that you all have to work out. Dont go with people you dont like, it can spoil the experience.
Rachel was an incredible host today setting us up in the Phase III: Human Trials room. This room was one of the hardest Ive done but the story, props and basement feel of the room really added authenticity to the scenario. Without a doubt, this is a 5/5!!!
The Austin Panic Room was a unique experience with in depth puzzles to challenge the mind. Our guide did a great job of setting us up in each scenario. I had a good time and would definitely reccomend this for groups of friends.
It was fun for sure. It wasn’t quite as fully themed as some of the other rooms I’ve been in. But it was a very well done room and we had a good level of interaction with the operator. I would go again to check out more rooms.
Julian was a very good game leader! We had fun and the storyline correlated with the puzzles...a treat when so many escape rooms have no rhyme or reason... thanks for a 5 star experience!!!
Such a cool experience. Not only is the staff accommodating, but super friendly and funny. I would recommend to any thrill seeker!
Good time, good puzzles. I think the host was a little free with the info when giving hints, but we barely escaped.
This was my first time doing a panic room and it was a blast! I was with some friends who had done Austin Panic Room before, but Kyler and Cosme did a great job of walking me through how everything worked. It was certainly tense, and in the end a fun way to spend an hour. Make sure you take advantage of the limited number of clues youre allowed to get from your host. Its also in a really cool old house, and I would love to come back sometime to try the other rooms.
It was great! We did the Oval office room. We almost got it. 10 more minutes or less we would of had it. It was the whole groups first time. I would recommend to anyone who likes puzzles.
SO MUCH FUN! Do you like puzzles? Do you enjoy working with friends to solve riddles? Come here!We make a trip or two whenever their rooms change and have not been disappointed yet! We average about a 50% success rate (Individual room rates are quite a bit lower). Bring along some good friends who are sharp and perceptive and have a great time!
This was my first time doing this. Super fun and actially quite challenging. Highly reccomended and a very decent cost!!!
This was an absolute blast. The guide we had was awesome, sorry I forgot your name! The puzzles were challenging and fun and we all had an amazing time.If you need a good team building experience for a small team (say 8-10) this is it.
First panic room and it was so fun! We did the phase iii human trials and Walter was an awesome operator! I want to come back to do the other rooms. Had a great time.
Clean, fun, and organized! Went with a full group of 10 for Cabin Fever. Unfortunately (and do not recommend you get there late!!) we got there a little late, but Walter was very helpful and understanding. Well worth the money. Thanks, Walter!
We solved the room with eleven seconds left! So hard but make sure to use your clues! Highly recommend $)
Our company had an event here. Seena was our operator for the Oval Office and did an awesome job setting us up. We had a great time getting out! Would recommend!
One of my friends started yelling at us. Another one, usually timid, assertively told us to move aside. And, as usual, a certain two were panicking. In reality, we all panicked a little on the inside. We came in as a group of engineers during dead week of college. However, we were challenged with surprisingly difficult puzzles and hidden clues. As we worked together to solve this 1-room mystery, it was entertaining and interesting to see how everyone worked together (or lack thereof). We bounced off ideas off one another. Some sat absorbed into one clue while others ran around looking for more. You can go step by step or you can go with a shotgun approach. Its all up to you.It was a great learning experience, and I would definitely do it again! Thanks Austin Panic Room!
This was a wonderful experience! It was the first time for most of our team and our guide Antonia was amazing!!! She explained everything and set up the scenario beautifully for our escape! Awesome experience and Antonia was an awesome guide! Cant wait to do this team building activity again! Thanks!
The room I picked wasnt easy at all, but we had so much fun. Staff super friendly as well.
I asked the Austin Panic Room staff if I could set up a proposal to my girlfriend at their location. I was expecting a haphazard sure, why not or something and then essentially making me take it from here. I was very pleasantly surprised that the staff not only allowed me to plan the proposal in one of their rooms, but helped me plan it every step of the way. The staff went above and beyond in absolutely ensuring the proposal went just right, which it did! I could not have dreamed up a better scenario than proposing to her there and there was NO WAY it would have gone as well as it did without the incredibly high degree of professionalism and hard work I received from the Austin Panic Room staff. Thanks again so much, Austin Panic Room!!!!
We had a lot of fun in the phase 3 human trials room! There were a lot of puzzles and even hidden rooms. Rachel was great at leading us without giving too much away. She was awesome!
I liked the place. Good team effort and we were so close to winning the challenge.
Just did the Phase 3 Human Trials room. This one was well set up and challenging to do. We made it out with 17 minutes to spare after some serious teamwork. Our Operator Claudia was awesome too.
Had a great time! We tried out the Phase 3 room and had a lot of fun. The operator was really friendly/service was great! Highly recommend. Good for team building.
Had such an amazing time doing Cabin Fever with friends! Walter was an awesome operator and had a great sense of humor with our group. Absolutely would recommend anyone of any age to give it a try!
Went to the new Phase 3 room, and I had a really great time! All the puzzles and riddles were quite tricky, but very clever and new. Definitely something to try with your friends or family if you have the time!
Have actually been to this place twice and have really enjoyed it both times. This last time was the cabin which was well done and had a fun story and a great room environment.Christina was an excellent host as well!
This was way more fun than we expected! Our group of three didnt make it out alive but we still had a blast trying to figure out the puzzles. The guides are super friendly and helpful. They make the experience challenging but not frustrating...
A really good game if you like to have a shot at team building. Youre given one hour and put into a room with 10 people. There are many locks which youll need to unlock to get yourself out of the room.Finding the code to a lock is challenging. There are clues all around the room which will unlock a certain lock. One by one you need to figure out each lock to get you out of the room.If your group is under 10 people, then they will group you with another set of guys whom youll need to work together as a team. Altogether there will be 10 people working as a team in a single room. If you dont like to work with newcomers, suggest that you find 10 people whom you know beforehand. We had only 5 people and had to work with another set of guys. They were great and very much cooperative with us.A great place to visit if you have time.
This place is a cool place if you like solving puzzles! Theres two rooms, the museum room and the bomb room. Our group chose the bomb room since we had 10 people, and it was really fun! The museum room is small so it can fit from 4 to 8 people, and the bomb room is the bigger room that can fit 4 to 10 people.Once you go inside they give you an hour to escape! The room is scattered with clues for you to solve as a team. They give you a walkie-talkie to the team leader in case your team meets a dead-end. They also give you a pen and paper for you guys to write down the clues. It was a great experience! Our team made it only having 7 minutes left. The ones who do make it get their picture taken on the wall! Overall I would say that it was a great place with a cool concept with generally good execution. The staff was nice and they did a great job with the place! Cant wait until the puzzle rotates- we will be there again!!!
Came here with my family and had a blast! Finished the Abandoned School with less than 1 minute left. Its very great for bonding and can be quite challenging. Prices are a bit steep, but its worth it since they support the troops by offering military discount. Highly satisfied!
This was our first experience at an escape room. It was amazing. We did the school room. It was challenging and fun. The care and detail Austin Panic Room took in setting up the challenge was on point. Our host Rachel was cool and enhanced the experience. Five stars and two thumbs up to Austin Panic Room. We will meet again.
Really had a great time here. Have to use teamwork to get out. Perfect for the quiet office to learn to communicate. Will be coming back with my family. Perhaps we can beat it next time!
My family and I have done more than 20 escape games, and our experience today at Austin Panic Room doing the Cabin game was the worst ever. Things got off to a bad start with the woman, Paulina I believe, who was our guide. Before we began, she gave us the “backstory” of the Cabin game, but she did so like she had no interest in the game or being here. We’ve done one other room here and our guide was fantastic and really set up the story and got us excited to play. Our guide today seemed like she couldn’t remember the story and couldn’t be bothered with trying to get the story right. The only thing she did remember and was very adamant about was that we were not to touch the couch in the room and that there would be NO clues in, on or under the couch. I guess someone recently destroyed the couch and they had just repaired it. No worries, the experience is about the room right? About 5 minutes into the game, we got stuck on what seemed like an easy clue and we were certain we had the correct answer. It required us to use a certain electrical device (trying not to spoil anything). However, no matter how hard we tried this device didn’t work and we assumed we were missing something. So after another 10 minutes of searching, we finally gave up and asked for a clue. Our guide told us we needed to pay attention to the electrical device. So we spend more time trying to figure out what we were missing. Then we asked a second time for help and she told us we were missing something with the electrical device. So again we looked. Finally, we gave up and asked her to tell us how to get this device to work. Only then, after 15 minutes of letting us try, did she figure out the device wasn’t working. So she paused the game and sent someone in the room to figure out what was wrong. Cut to 10 minutes later and all of us all standing around, they couldn’t fix the device and decided to write the clue down on a piece of paper for us. Game resumed. Cut to 10 minutes later and we were again stuck. We asked for a clue and were told we had missed something in the room. Again we searched. Five minutes later, asked again, to be told we were missing a book that had a clue in it. Five minutes later, frustrated, we started looking in the couch, the one place we were told NOT TO LOOK. And THERE IT WAS. We informed our guide and she told us they must have made another mistake and not put the book back in the proper place when they reset the room. So now, we are at TWO errors on their part and a lot of time frustrated trying to find clues that weren’t there or were broken. At this point, we were all frustrated and just wanted to leave the game. We weren’t having fun, but surely everything else would work fine right?? NO. When we asked for a clue on another puzzle, the guide kept giving us clues to do things we had already done. Pretty sure she wasn’t paying attention to what was happening at all. And on our final ask for help, she kept giving us a clue that didn’t make sense. We asked her 4 times to tell us again and she kept saying the same thing, only to later apologize and say she made a mistake ALL FOUR TIMES and was getting the words “private cabin” and “steep slope area” mixed up. We were SO frustrated at her incompetence. We had spend $250 on this experience and it was ruined. We didn’t have fun. It was a waste of time and money. The only “apology” we got at the end, was our guide telling us that another girl who set the room up was having a bad day and had been making mistakes setting up games all day. Seems like if they knew this, someone would have been double checking the rooms. This is unacceptable when we are paying this much money. It’s also too bad because we really enjoyed the other room we did here, but we won’t be coming back.
I have been to escape rooms in several cities and this is now one of my favorites. Walter was super helpful. I took my kids this weekend and we enjoyed the way it was designed. Highly recommended!
Had an amazing time. Was able to solve the cabin fever room with our group. Well set up and very fun. Kyler, our guide, was awesome. Explained the rules and what to expect very well. Highly recommended!
We reserved the Cabin Fever room for our friends birthday and it was an amazing time. Jaye was a great host and the room was a great challenge.
Super fun for my sons birthday with friends and family. The School Room was perfect for them! Kyler was great with the kids. Scheduling online was a breeze but I wish theyd return a phone call. Everything turned out really well despite that. Be prepared to park on the street and pay at the parking meter if you dont arrive early. Great experience! We will be going back.
Very fun! We did the Phase: 3, Human Trials run and succeeded using all hints (including the hidden one!). Rachel was a great guide.
Low quality rooms with lackluster puzzles.
A whole lot of fun every time. The perfect team-building activity that has become an annual event for our organization. Weve done the Classroom and the Cabin and they were both in different ways. Our Operator, Seena, was amazing!
Claudia was amazing!!! She was super nice and helpful. Really fun to be around. I wish more people were like her in the world. Will definitely come back.
My husband and I have NEVER been beat by an escape room. We go by ourselves and normally blow it out of the water... it’s our thing. We love the challenge! We were set to do the Phase three human trials. They didn’t reset the room (2 doors to other rooms were open that shouldn’t have been). We wasted time on clues (trying to figure out why they hadn’t worked) that already unlocked the two doors and time in rooms we shouldn’t have had access to from the start. Super upsetting that we didn’t get a reset room and when we told the person that helped us... she was just like oooooh that sucks! AND WHY DIDNT SHE SAY THEY ARE NOT SUPPOSED TO BE OPEN?!? If she was doing her job and watching to help us she would have noticed that the doors were already open. Not cool. You made us pay for the full experience when we only got half if that.
Dont Panic, its a Blast.
Great time! Hard enough to enjoy, but not simple. Ask for Walter, hes a great operator.
This was a fun way to kill an hour
I really enjoyed the variety of themes they had available, and our room had a lot of exciting puzzles. Melissa was a great operator! Thanks for an exciting evening.
I was very happy with the service our operator, Cameron, was very helpful Phase III was so much fun!
Really enjoyed our experience in Prison Break Room. Had tons of fun. Walter was great in guiding us and helping us. Would def recommend.
Awesome time, Brian is a great and very helpful guy. The room was tough and fun. Very cool. Will totally recommend
It was so much fun!! My friends and I loved it! Our monitor, Eric H, was very informative! We managed to escape Cabin Fever with 14 minutes left! Totally recommend trying it out!
So awesome. It was the most fun I have had in a while. Our gamemaster, Chelsea, made it so awesome. She gave us just enough hints to make it enjoyable. Please give her a raise! :)
The Austin Panic Room was great! We completed the Phase III: Human Trials room with the help of our operator, Cameron. I highly recommend doing an Austin Panic Room experience as a team bonding exercise!
Great experience!! Good place to go with family and friends.
We did the schoolhouse, and it was super fun! I nearly (just kidding, actually-) screamed in excitement. We finished with four minutes left. Claudia, our guide, was also very friendly and helpful
It was eerily apropos to come here while Im in the middle of reading Ready Player One, as being here will feels just like re-enacting the book or exploring a Vault in Fallout.I came here on an office outing, and we split into two groups. Walter and Seena made sure both groups had a blast. Ours did the evil laboratory room and every clue was cleverly thought out and appropriate to the setting.I also really appreciate the central Austin location! Its easy to get there by bike, or to hop off one of the major bus routes on Guadalupe and be right there.
Was a blast! Did the prison break with some friends from work and could not have been more stoked to beat the challenge.S/o Melissa & Sarah D. for being amazing hosts!
