The lack of public restrooms in the area is a drawback, especially if youre bringing younger children or need the restroom yourself. That said, its a beautiful, expansive park with a well maintained walking/jogging path and tables for lunches. The view of the Capital cannot be beat. The Vietnam Memorial was a stately and understated tribute to armed forces service members as well. Bring a lunch and take a stroll.

A perfect viewing spot for one of the more beautiful State Houses. The park could use a few more branches or picnic tables, but its a lovely place.

Beautiful park across from the Augusta Capital Building. This park is lovely, & well kept, with very large, long meandering sidewalks, next to massive trees that keep the park cool, & quiet! Picnic tables, benches, & the Vietnam Veterans statue allow for places to view, eat, or sit. Dogs are allowed, & people of all ages come to enjoy, exercise, & experience the beauty this park holds!

The park is beautiful with large grassy areas and plenty of shade trees, tables, and benches. There is a playground across the street thats great for kids too.

Wide open green spaces with a great view of the Capitol, especially at sunup/sundown and at night with the Capitol building all lit up. Easy to access and always very clean. Sometimes can be a bit noisy due to its location, but it’s large enough that most spots aren’t loud enough to spoil the day. Great spot for family photos or photographers looking for an easy but engaging location.

Spartan, yet beautiful park with tree lined walking paths. Lots of tables and benches to sit and relax on, all in the shadow of the Capitol building. A wonderful place to stop for a br AK on my way through town.

Peaceful and quiet, cool under the trees. Where the rains had not drained well, they had formed a very shallow pond near us, where ducks played and made us smile. The Maine Vietnam War Memorial stands here, too, somber and solemn.

This park is so beautiful. Its great for outdoor yoga classes, dog training classes, picnics, hanging out eith friends, playing outside games such as Frisbee or kanjam with friends. Theres also a small sidewalk that goes around the perimeter of the park that you can walk on to get some daily exercise in. Theres also a small playground next to the park which is super fun to play on and is great for small children. There are a lot of big trees on the park that provide shade for the super hot and sunny days.

I love this park. Come to Maines capital and visit this park to get best view of the capital building. Enjoy a picnic, a stroll along the paths in the park or wander across the street to playground. Bathrooms are open to the public in the State Library / State Museum during regular business hours and in the summer there are port a potties at the entrance to the Kennebec Rail Trail by the playground. This a dog friendly park, and paths are accessable but not entirely paved, some parts may get too soft to navigate when it has been raining a lot. Have a great visit!
