I actually worked here many years and learned first-hand what a remarkable office for the public benefit this federally-mandated, but state government controlled agency is. The great staff who work here provide protection for buildings (National Register of Historic Places listings), places - both historic and prehistoric sites, as well as providing educational information in the form of brochures, lectures, and more. I was born in Maine, but grew up in New Hampshire so my education on this state was basically derived in what I learned from my work here. I was and still am very proud to have been a part of that and I encourage everyone to visit the Maine.gov website and go to their page.
