Liked the park. But the trail is placed in a small bit of land (compared to other parks) which to compensate for it, they curved it much more that needed.

A small public parking area and the entrance to Lake Wilmore Trail are at the left rear of Ogletree Elementary School parking lot. There are a couple of other trailheads that enter the woods further down towards the back of the school. Think of Lake Wilmore Park as a no-admission-fee extension of nearby Chewacla State Park. You can hike, mountain bike, and bring your dogs and kids. Theres a fire break, four or five miles of trails and dirt roads, and a creek. But, note that there are no playgrounds, restrooms, or any public structures. Lake Wilmore is now just a stretch of Moores Mill Creek. A little exploring along the creek bank reveals some dikes and what appears to be a portion of a dam. With a little imagination you can visualize where the lake once was. If you like to hike, this adds some variety to your choice of venues. Google maps still shows a lake present, so when you walk near the creek and track your hike on GPS, itll show that you walked on water!

Great place to hike. You might even see a snake laying in the sunshine. If you look hard.

Nice place to hike. Dogs are welcome on a leash. No facilities, only primative walking trails. Lake Wilmore is no longer there, but a portion of the old dam is still along Moores Mill Creek.

Less of a park and more of just a quiet wooded spot. Not a crazy hike, I go off path to get to the creek faster and if you follow the creek down stream youll hit the old dam ruins.

Its not a lake anymore, but thats what makes it interesting. This used to be the drinking water reservoir for the City of Auburn. Remnants of that public works project remain, you just have to walk a while to find them.Theres no direct parking. Basically you have to park at the elementary school, and walk into the woods from there. No matter which way you take, youll be going the scenic route, so bring good hiking shoes. After walking on the trail for a couple of minutes, youll reach a wide path that the gas company has cleared through the woods. You could turn north on this, if you want. The scenery along this way isnt quite as natural, but you feel like youre making more direct progress toward the water. Alternately, you can follow the foot path, which winds back and forth a lot, but will eventually take you where you want to go.The important part is to go northwest somehow. Youre looking for a wide grassy trail that follows the path of the stream. The tire tracks that go along this path will be obvious, but if you look closer, you can see the tracks of people, dogs, deer, and a lot more. Follow the water downstream, and you will eventually come upon whats left of the Lake Wilmore Dam. The dam is permanently open now, but you can still see the concrete and steel structure that once held back Auburns water supply. If youre into that kind of abandoned infrastructure, this is what makes the long walk worthwhile.People have left ropes here, which can make it easier to climb the concrete walls. I wouldnt call the place beautiful, especially with all the graffiti, but its certainly interesting. Equally important, its quiet. You cant hear Auburn city noise, its just the sound of water rushing over the concrete and rocks. If youre up for the walk, it can be a lovely place to spend an afternoon.Lake Wilmore Park has no admission fee.The only parking is at Ogletree Elementary School.Dogs and mountain bikes are allowed. There are no toilets, drinking fountains or other facilities.

You must know the secret to get there. But once you do it is pretty cool. Theres not really a park there its more of just a spot in the woods. Also there is absolutely no Lake. The lake has not been there for a very long time.

This park is actually a very long trail. AllTrails website says it is 1.8 miles, but it is actually over 2.5 miles in a loop. My friends and I walked for an hour and it was lovely.

Oct 2018. Kudos to those who created the trails in 2010 (as stated on sign posted inside trail @1/8 mile) but this place does not meet up to most of the comments & photos posted. It was a little difficult to find & school teachers next door treated us like we were criminals when we stopped for help while children were outside playing. And they never even heard of Lake Wilmore Park!Once we located it in the -same- parking lot as the school in the far back corner, all you find is a small public parking sign & a very weathered trail board. The trails themselves are obviously rarely used anymore as we spent much time kicking away large rocks & moving tree limbs. The trails are marked if you pay attention & you have to as all the trails are covered with much debris from leaves, storms, etc. The most disappointing thing was there is NO pond, lake, stream, small falls, nothing! You can hear water for 1 min & see a small spot of water in a creek bed, but thats it.Just past the 1-mile post on the LWT trail, we come across (albeit on the ground) a sign that says, PRIVATE PROPERTY, NO TRESPASSING. So what the...?? After that we decided to complete the trail we were on & not hike the RWT trail. Parts of the trails run near noisy roads & is adjacent to a service road in one direction & buildings in another so there seclusion & getting away from it all. Again, thanks to those who originally put work into creating the walk/hike trails as we know that was a lot of work, but to us this park was not worth our time & gas in finding it. If you seek it out, we hope you enjoy it more than us.

Although there are no public roads or access signs for Lake Wilmore Park, there are trails and dirt roads throughout which appear to get foot, mountain bike, ATV and horseback traffic. The lake itself is almost non-existent, just a stream, during the current drought. When conditions are wet, it looks like what Google shows as the lake would be boggy and impassable on foot but not submerged. A marked trailhead starts at the far corner of the Ogletree School parking lot.
