Johnna is a formidable musician with a talent for teaching a very broad range of students. I first saw her about 18 months ago to help me learn more about guitar. I’d been playing since about age 14 but never had formal training, didn’t read music, and had spent several long stretches of never picking up my old well-seasoned D18. I thought I should spend a little more time in focused study to see if this was something I could sustain for fun in retirement. She opened up a whole new world for me…in spite of my having to unlearn a lifetime of bad guitar habits. I’m enjoying the journey. In twenty years, she will have been instrumental in the achievement of my goal…being the best 95-year-old blues/jazz player in the city. ;)
