As a younger boy I helped in the assembly of the play equipment. I have enjoy bringing my children over the years. It is a very fun place for them to play. I am a little saddened however to see things falling apart and missing. I feel like the attention given to the upgrades,(which are fantastic) should also be given to restoring the original equipment.

Very nice softball fields, has extremely big restrooms and very clean. Many other things to do there as well. There is a walking path around the whole complex. There is also a Frisbee golf course that goes around the complex. There is also a couple of places where there is room to set up an RV if your team is in an overnight tournament. Im not sure about there being hookups for the RV. There is also an athletic gymnasium nearby.

This is the most engaging playground in the county. It is the preferred destination of every child I know. We always enjoy ourselves and meet friendly well mannered and well supervised children away the kids duggout.

I voted at the rec center.First time there.. Facilities from what I seen was clean and organized. Park area bigger than thought would be. Drove through on way out.Leads to area for greenway trail too. Tennis/ base Ball fields/ frisbee golf/ soccer/ picnic etc.Not sure if horseshoes... But be a perk if does or if added.

Not a bad little ballpark. Theres a decent playground for kids to include a wheelchair accessible swing. Theres a public Ive never used, a few soccer fields and a dozen or so ballfields. I go for the softball games and infrequently the park.

I would argue this the best part of Athens.

Facility could be fabulous with the right people and closer attention to detail.

It was awsome my kids loved it when they were younger and after takeing my grandsons there they love it as well they have added several more things for them to play on they even have a handicap swing for children in wheel chairs I think they should add several more things for handicap children or even make another playground adjacent to kids dug out not seperate from it so that the children dont feel singled out.

Great facility for a great city

The playground really needs an intervention. Between the trash, muddy spots, and broken equipment pieces... It definitely makes one wonder what the new community center will look like-sitting right next door. So sad because its the largest and most unique playground in Athens.

Parking! They have far too many games going on at the same time and not enough parking for the amount of vehicles there. People are having to park illegally. The police rarely give parking tickets there but the possibility it there. Other than parking, the place is awesome. The grounds are always well maintained. The restrooms are usually clean and they keep the place safe.

Took grandson and great-grandson for a McDs picnic lunch. Park is exceptionally clean and well maintained. Great playground equipment too. Recommend highly for casual visits or family outings.

Could use some trash areas for pet owners! I had to pick up 3 times but then had to hunt to find a trash can to throw them away in!

Fun for hosting tournaments, walking your pets, throwing a frisbee, or just having a simple picnic. The track itself is decent, but I do wish the city would repave it with asphalt. A graveled surface makes it easy to accumulate rocks in your shoes. Nevertheless, the place has undergone substantial progress since I was a kid. I have high hopes for the new rec center being built here. Its a major investment with our tax dollars.

Its a great park for family outings... I would recommend a refreshment center otherwise everything for a family to enjoy themselves in one place.

Didnt bother throwing here after arriving. No signs, no map. Open pitch and putt next to fields, roads, etc. Classic example of not wanting to lose funding so they threw a bunch of random stuff out in the grass. Its a game of guess which basket to throw to. If you rec center trolls would just ask some locals they would design and make this stuff for free instead of the stuff just wasting away unused. Garbino

They do a great job. Straight from work to the ballpark usually. I look forward to my ballpark cheese burger for dinner.

Great park to take the kids to and also good walking trails. Beautiful place just can become over crowded at Tims especially on the weekend.

This is a great place. It has lots of fields and a nice park. It even has a pool in the summertime. Perfect for a picnic or a family day out.

Disc golf is great here only holes 1-10 tho!

Love when my kids have tournaments at this park. Its close to home, convenient to get to restaurants, Walmart or Dollar General! The fields are very nice and the concession stands are well priced also!

Very nice complex and clean. The only downfall is that gates near a parking lot are locked. Cant be that expensive to collect money there as well. There are a lot of grandparents and great grandparents who go that cannot walk the distance to the 2nd gate and parking lot.

Nice place but to charge 8$ a person to get in and then the bathrooms not good? Well that was sad.

The Athens Sportsplex has been around for about 25 years now. I played some ball there as a kid and now my sons playing out there too. The big difference between then, and now, is shear size. The Sportsplex continues to grow and is atleast twice the size it was back when I played. Theres more than just baseball fields out there too. The Sportplex has a Kids Dugout playground, soccer fields, baseball fields, softball fields, batting cages, and multiple convenient concession stands with restrooms. Im sure Ive left out some of the activites available, bc Im just unaware of everthing that goes on out there now days.The park seems safe and is well lighted at night. Overall, the Sportsplex is a really nice ballpark. Its friendly environment makes it a great place for familys to come together and have fun, especially with the kiddos!

Super awesome and clean facility for kids and adults to be outside and play sports. One of the best parts of Athens in my openion.

Has a great, long walking trail connected to high school with creeks, wooded areas, beautiful wooden bridge. Soccer and baseball fields, frisbee golf course, and the best play area for young children in Athens. Also has open areas to fly drones.

Walking trail, playground, ball fields, public pool, adequate parking, and an overall great place to take the family for a fun filled day that only costs nothing but your precious time. The park is wooden so its a park that isnt like the rest. Book a party there!

Great playground here for the kids.

One of the better ballparks Ive been to. Some fields have drainage issues which lead to spectator areas getting flooded after heavy rain. Spectator areas leave plenty of room for you to bring a chair.

Great family sports place. We enroll out kids in sports here and its always a good experience. They have a good playground and awesome walking trail too! Oh, and the frisbee golf course is good!

The whole family lives this place. One of the biggest parks you probably have seen. Great walking trails. Nice pool. Everything all wrapped up in one place.

I grew up playing at Kids Dugout and was so disgusted when I took my 4 year old nephew to play there yesterday. The play area is fine and the reason this review is 3 stars instead of 1. Its the bathrooms that thoroughly disgusted me. No seat covers, no soap, didnt even have soap dispensers! Thank goodness I had hand sanitizer in my sons diaper bag.

I somewhat consider this home turf so Im going to try and be as unbiased as possible. The parking isnt too bad and they allow you to take in coolers. They have shaded spots in good locations.The knocks: bathrooms arent totally gross but arent well kept. Also it would be nice if they kept up with or turned on the scoreboard. This is a major pet peeve especially given the amount of money they take in at the gate of travel ball tournaments.At the end of the day the park is average in quality but has a good draw given its proximity to I65(It pulls teams from all over North Alabama and some from South Tennessee). I give the park a C- for amenities and a B+ for quality of competition it draws.
