Dont forget your free wine tasting with your Biltmore admission!!! (You have to reserve it once you arrive) Our bartender (John, I believe) was incredibly friendly and personable, not mention answered all of our questions about different types of wines. He even helped pick out our list of tastings he thought we each enjoy based on what we told him we each liked!
You need to book a reservation for a complimentary wine tasting but it’s not too bad we only had to wait an hour and a half and we spent that time exploring the village, so be sure to stop here first to put your name on the list. The winery is beautiful and has a nice gift shop and you can buy wine. If you buy 3 bottles you can get 10% off. You can sample 5 different wines during the tasting. My favourite was the Christmas wine (both white and red!). The gentleman helping us was named Edward and he was so warm, friendly and informative. We enjoyed our time here!
Only visit this place if you want to experience the novelty of a winery. The only grapes that they actually grow are the Chardonnay varietal. Which actually isn’t a problem since their climate and soil would work for other varietals. Their grapes mostly come from California and Oregon. It was free, and you could choose 5 different wines from a very limited selection. Don’t think about lingering and savoring the tasting experience since you are allotted only 15 minutes for the tasting. They said it was for COVID related distancing, but from the distancing we experienced, it seems like we could have lingered a little longer. Not to worry though, you can do free tasting at other locations on the property. The wine was decent and its apparently a heavily visited place, but I wouldn’t over spend on the wines at this winery. On the upside, the guy pouring our wine was very friendly!
Wine club alert! Do not waste your money. Don’t get me wrong we love the wine BUT after paying for a membership and our exclusive member prices- we have found our favorite and several others at local wine stores in GA for up to 25% CHEAPER than your “exclusive” member price! When we contacted the team they said oh well. DO NOT SPEND YOUR MONEY HERE
This is my first time here and I love this place! The architecture, the garden, and the history is magnificent!!! The wine...oh the wine...it is simply delicious. My husband and I will have to come back as we were unable to do everything but if you are hesitating to visit please dont! You will definitely enjoy yourself .
A little expensive but overall we had a really great time here at the Biltmore Estates. The grounds are wonderfully manicured and the wine tasting tour was amazing. Everyone here was really knowledgeable about the history of the estate and of course about the wine. We sampled way too many and bought a few bottles before we left. The local staff gave us some great suggestions of restaurants in the area to try and they were all fabulous.
Excellent place to wind up your day wandering the Biltmore Estate. The winery is in the old creamery. Here the Biltmore family would milk their dairy herd and provide the surrounding community with cream, milk & butter. You wont find any real evidence of the previous bovine residents, as with everything it is immaculate and beautiful. The staff are friendly and accommodating, always willing to make recommendations. No wine snobs here. We truly enjoyed ourselves, even when the hubs stated The closer the taste to Welches the better. they found something close to his taste. They also were able to provide some fruit forward Pinots, some big Cabs and a buttery Chardonnay, for me.
Beautiful place to visit during fall. We didnt go inside the house this time, but spent a lot of time walking the grounds before visiting the winery. Very romantic place but also very family friendly.
While the winery and wines were great, not all the staff embody the gracious hospitality of the South mentioned on the Biltmore website. Our wine server and the lady who checked us in were lovely, but I cant say the same for the guy at the checkin who all but turned us away because we were 15 minutes late; the cashier in the wine shop; and the employee who was angry that I needed to go to level one, thus impeding her elevator ride to the basement. But the location and setting couldnt have been nicer. Would have been a 5 star review except for the above staff member issue.
Breathtaking, only had land tour so I could go to the winery, but I will definitely encourage others to visit. Wine tasting is by appointments only due to COVID.
Pretty much just a gift shop that sells wine and a wine bar for tasting, no tour through the distillery or anything, we asked if we could see the vineyard and were told by an employee that it was impossible
Wow what a winery. I have been to over 60 wineries in NC and never had to wait this long to taste wine but it was worth the wait because the staff makes you feel like its a small winery instead of the very large operation that it actually is. Staff was very personable and spent time explaining each wine and allowed you time to savory the wines. Didnt feel rushed one bit and the prices are great. Every wine was very good too! WOW
Reserved wine tastings. 5 tastes in about 15 minutes. Interesting and diverse options.
They fool you. They say they dont need a reservation, and then in fact you need one. As an apology they offer you to pay for your wine yourself. I dont recommend this place.
Filled with tourists but NOT a tourist trap. Great wines, knowledgeable sommeliers and reasonable prices. Lots of plastic and prepacked good because of COVID, but it didnt ruin the vibe.
Castle-like house, beautiful architecture and history, world class gardens & winery. A romantic destination in Asheville, North Carolina!!
Beautiful winery!!! The setting is gorgeous and I wish I lived closer to go more often! Such an awesome experience!
Wine tasting is included in the Biltmore ticket. We have 2 kids and they were with my husband asleep in the car. So I had little time. The line was kinda long but it moved fast enough. There are at least 3 long tables with lots of staff to help with wine tasting. I agree with another reviewer here: Plenty of room for tasting, staff has this part down. Tasting exceeded my expectations.
They have a delightful selection of wine in the winery. The grounds are beautiful. The staff is knowledgeable and helpful.
I love it here but was very confused where the entrance was, if it is we free to get in, etc. So, the deal is that you have to pay to get on the property. Once you pay, you get a free wine tasting with your ticket! The winery is in the Antler Hill Village and if you enter the winery through the center of the village it will take you through a cave lit up with lights!
Although I feel the Biltmore was a wonderful experience to view the property and the gardens, I was highly disappointed when I went to do the complimentary wine tasting and was told I needed to have a reservation. I understand under current circumstances that it makes sense but nowhere when I booked my tickets did it state that I needed to make a reservation for the complimentary wine tasting. I did my Estate tour and got to the winery around 430 was then told they Close at five and all the reservations were booked. I am visiting from Florida not sure when/if I will return. Disappointed that I did not get to experience the complimentary wine tasting that is included in the expensive ticket price.
We are annual passholders. This is my home away from home. There is soooo much to do. The house tour is amazing and if you have time pay for some of the other tours as well like the rooftop tour. You have to go see the gardens and walk around in the trails. the winery makes some absolutely delicious wines and there are several restaurants on the property as well. You should try Cedrics pub for lunch they have a very good food. Also the best ice cream on the planet is at their creamery up in antlers villages well.if you are just a one-time visitor you can spend 2 or 3 days here and not get tired of being on the property. Christmas time is especially nice because everything is decorated with all kinds of Christmas trees and lights
Wonderful, place to stay and visit the staff is very helpful. The tasting room is so nice and the champagne tour is awesome. The crew and staff have always been great and they always make it special.
Admission to the Biltmore State includes a wine tasting, so why not!We visited during Christmas week so line for the tasting seemed loooooooooooooong but it moves super quickly so dont be scared by it.The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable.
Very nice. Good wines and reasonable prices.
Only had an hour, an hour before they closed passing through and they want $50 just to go to the winery and the ability to walk around. Insane and absolutely ridiculous. No thank you
Amazing time at the Biltmore Estate Winery, wine and chocolate tasting!
This was fun. Free wine tasting which was roughly 5-7 pours. The bottles of wine are not nearly as expensive as I thought they’d be. They were anywhere from $13 to $25 and pretty good. Ended up purchasing 3 bottles. Definitely worth the visit.
While staying at the hotel, we went wine tasting here the last day and it was pretty fun. The lady was super nice and guided people through different flavors and they have grape juice for anyone who isnt drinking.
Had a great time tasting wine listening to the music. This is a a great place to grad a cold bottle of wine and relax next to the live music. This place is very popular so I would recommend to get here early and find a spot. The staff is very friendly and will recommend a perfect bottle of wine for any occasion.Dont forget to do the wine tasting!
Winery in The Biltmore estate grounds. Free wine tasting. The staff is always friendly and courteous. The wine selection is great. We love this place.
The Biltmore Estate Winery was one of the best features of the Biltmore tour. They had a large selection of wines to taste with helpful servers. After the wine tasting we purchased a bottle of wine at the restaurant and finished our night with a charcuterie board. The wine and cheese paired perfectly. The restaurant was a nice place to relax and unwind. Staff was very friendly and helpful.
Nice selection of wines! Sure tasting was a very nice and pleasant experience. Charles our bartender was amazing! Liked many he suggested...Good selection of wine related household items
Great service . Great choices of wine. Enjoyed it.
Excellent wine testing, it really worth the wait.
So there is a “complimentary wine tasting” included with the ticket but you need reservations for it...which is not advertised until you show up and the person working the door tells you that you need a reservation and by the way they are booked for the rest of the day...and it says no where online that you need a reservation so I am letting everyone know now
Great place to visit, lots of interesting things & history to enjoy as well as the gardens & winery to visit, a definite must see & not just one time either.
When you buy tickets it does not tell you you need to make reservations for the wine tasting.
Wow oh wow is it beautiful. I was fortunate to see it decked out for the holidays and it’s so gorgeous. So many delicious treats other than wine to try and cute things to buy. Friendly staff. The grounds and atmosphere are super beautiful. I really enjoyed our experience.
We had a wine making tour at the Winery. Tasted wines and brought a few that we really like. The staff were very accommodating and the taste rooms were beautifully designed and very welcoming!
My wife and I love this pace. As retired folks we love to drink wine and relax.
Great wines friendly staff!
After spending ALL day on Biltmore Estate we decided we would ride over and have a glass or two of wine. It was so relaxing. Ordered a couple of bottles of wine. They corked what we didn’t drink and then drank it when I got back in the room!! We also ordered a cheese board and a cheese and charcuterie board! One of the best I’ve had! Perfect snack to end the evening! Server was great! Will be back.
Beautiful Day Exploring the Grounds!
Paid $100 for the candlelight tour with daytime access to the grounds and a complementary wine tasting. Instead felt like I paid for the privilege of visiting a series of gift shops. Wine tasting line was over an hour, surrounded by throngs of people. This isnt the winery experience youre looking for. Go to an actual winery.
The wine tasting bar is great, really help to make my choice!
Relaxing atmosphere, friendly and helpful staff, charming local. Always a great place to visit, whether for a wine tasting, or a light snack to eat with you wine.
Plenty of room for tasting, staff has this part down. I was surprised to hear that only the chardonnay and can franc are from on the estate, all other grapes are brought in from other parts of the country. Also, the cab franc was not part of the tasting package. That seemed weird. All in all, the tasting exceeded my expectations for East coast offerings.
Visiting the Biltmore house comes with a free wine tasting. Obviously then, the line is long but goes quickly. The wines are better than the usually sweet NC wines and then I Iearned all the wine is made is Napa Valley then shipped over. Interestingly the Merlot was the most intriguing but overall nothing award winning. Prices ran about $15 to $20.
Our group enjoyed tasting 7 wines each. We bought wines from the tasting because the choices were great! The Christmas wines were stand out. Kudos to our wine steward who kept up with us and the other tasters on a very busy Saturday night!
Long wait for wine tasting. Very pretty grounds. Wines not worth asking prices
There was a line a mile long, however the tasting was very fun! We had a guy that was teaching us about the wines and gave very generous pours. Afterward we went to the winery bar and enjoyed lots of other wine and charcuterie boards. I gotta say, when asked about the grape-growing in North Carolina, I learned that the Biltmore estate doesnt grow their own grapes rather they truck them in from the west coast and bottle them. I thought that was sort of disappointing, but overall it was a very fun experience that I would recommend.
Really cool place, the tasting rooms are great but the wine bar in the adjacent building is even cooler. Buy a bottle or two, order some cheese and charcuterie and relax. The service was amazing!
We visited the Biltmore winery for the first time this weekend. We were both so impressed with the wine tasting and the staff. We enjoyed being able to try different wines and then being able to purchase the ones we liked. The wine store itself is fairly priced. Most bottles of wine averaged only $12 to purchase. You cant beat that price for fresh wine made right there on the Biltmore farm. A great experience and will love to visit here again.
Staff was nice as well as knowledgeable, and i was very pleasantly surprised to see some beautiful US made glass ware for sale.
We got in right away. Ms. Linda was our host and she showed us some great options. We really enjoyed it!
This is a really nice shop. I like that they had many samples of the dips and spreads (for crackers, pretzels, breads, etc...) they were selling so you could try before you buy. Lots of different wine-related gifts & gadgets. I, unfortunately, did not get a chance to try their complementary wine tasting.
The winery tour was amazing !!!We took the bubbly champagne tour. Led by Sel the guide, full of knowledge and need to know facts about the wine. The history and food pairing that was one of the best tours Ive been in.
Beyond fabulous description!
Great place to taste the wines made by the Biltmore Estate. Large selection of wines products and accessories.
My husband and I visited Biltmore Estate/winery last month & we were so impressed with the whole experience ! First off we travel often and find at least 1 winery to bring a case home while there, but on most occasions it is a gesture buying their wines, NOT THIS TIME ! The wine selection and quality far beats any we have tried & the price is unbelievable. As many know that wineries usually charge $5-10 to sample 5 wines - Biltmore lets you sample as many as you like ( I literally had to cut myself off ) we just had such a great time and everyone is so friendly and helpful, we spoke to a woman that worked there while walking through the tunnel & she ended up coming over to us later in the winery and helped grab every wine on our list for us - this was such a big help . Just 2 days ago we ordered another case on the 20% off sale & they give FREE SHIPPING as well . We will order once or twice a year - LOVE this place !
Wonderful experience to try multiple wines to confirm those you like the best. Our wine expert was very helpful in identifying the varying wine taste levels!
We took our time to enjoy the tour. I have been here many times. I especially enjoy the holiday season.
Love the Biltmore. Great place to escape, relax and enjoy fabulous wines!
Amazing part of the Biltmore trip is the wine tasting, what an amazing server we had that gave us amazing pointers and shared her honest thoughts and helped us figure out which wines to try.On site tons of shops to go to as well and a lot of wine choices!!!
Its fun to visit and see how Biltmores own wine brand started and is properly prepared and marketed, and this is just before the complimentary tastings! Just make sure to bring at least one designated driver who stays sober the whole way through!
Really beautiful winery with great tour options that allow you to see the whole production process. Unlimited wine tasting with quite a few options.
Its fun to walk through the tunnel-like passageway reading signs that explain the history of the place and how wine is made, but you dont see any rooms where wine is actually being made.
The Behind the scenes tour was fabulous, included a tasting of four varietals, and was a good bargain. you can follow the tour with a visit to the open wine tasting room. And taste even more delicious North Carolina wines.. TIP: Plan your winery tour for the day following your visit to the estate, purchase it over the telephone, and if you ask, they will include a second day admission pass to the estate for no extra charge.
I love this place. There are benefits of being a wine club member. Unpretentious, friendly, and knowledgeable staff always make my visit enjoyable. Very comfortable chairs. Great wine that is only sold on the grounds... Not available at Ingles!
Fantastic hospitality and knowledgeable staff at the wine tasting as well as in the retail shop. My favorite part was heading over to the wine bar to enjoy a bottle of their incredible sparkling wine!! Take a break after touring the house and come back for an evening of fun! The wine tour sounds super worth it as well — plus the advertised fee was small! We’ll be back!!!
Linda helped us out with our tasting today. She was not only knowledgeable about all of the wines we asked about, she was also humorous and made our whole experience very enjoyable. She then told us exactly where in the store to find the ones we wanted to purchase. If you have the chance, check out the tasting room and see for yourself how great she is!
Its a peace of Heaven
A great place to both learn about and buy wine. Also sold are gadgets and snacks that accompany wine. Took the wine and chocolate class taught by Peter from Nottingham England.Very interesting how wine and chocolate pairings can make or break the tastes. Also included a short tour and history of the winery. Want to take the wine and cheese class, but it didnt work with our schedule. Maybe next time.
We are annual pass holders and come frequently. Our server tonight, Vicki was a great conversationalist as well as a true wine connoisseur! We were impressed and welcomed by her service! She even convinced us to sign up for the wine club at the first of the year!Below is a pick of the new wine bar!!
Even though the wine tasting had a queue of about 50 people, it took less than 10 minutes to be led to one of the many bars in the room. Our server knew quite a bit about the white and red wines of the Biltimore winery. We got to sample 6 different wines - the combined equivalent of a full glass. Just relaxed enough to go through the store afterwards, sampling tasty dips and sauces, and then buying a couple of bottles of wine.Ive attached a picture of what you would see every time you tip your glass upwards.
The selection of wines here is outstanding! Definitely visit for a tasting, but pace yourself. they have a ton of wines. Taking a tour of the cellars is very fun and informative. The staff are very friendly and take time to answer any questions that you have about the wines, how they are made, the history of the place, and more. The gift shop is also great, with a wide variety of items for sale.
Excellent wine tasting experience, thankyou John for giving two Aussie visitors such an informative and enjoyable wine tasting. We especially loved the Syrah.
They have wine tasting. Some lite weights got drunk on eight 1oz wine shots
We did a tasting after touring the house, and I was very impressed! Very knowledgeable sommelier with an Australian (?) accent poured our tasting, and he was wonderful! Ended up leaving with 3 of the 7 wines I tasted, and seriously regret not getting more!
Amazing place. Love all the wine tastings you can do before you decide what to buy. Just a fantastic experience, plus amazing prices for truly premium wines.
Free wine tasting is included with admission to the estate, and was surprisingly good! You get 5-6 samples of your choice from a large menu of Biltmore wines, which are decent and pretty reasonable priced. There is also a big gift shop, a tunnel with history about the winery, and a wine bar where you can drink more if you want to pay for it.
Free wine tasting with a property pass! Staff is awesome and always willing to talk about wines and flavor profiles despite having to do it constantly all day with hundreds of people.
I dont really drink but its a cool place to walk through. There are working bathrooms and water fountains down there. Boyfriend had to wait a while for the tasting but he got to try 6. During the tasting you get a fair amount of attention from the employee. I believe that you buy multiple bottles you get a discount. The rest of the store has some fun expensive stuff like wine accessories and then dip mix too.
The wine was great and so was our bartender. However our experience was ruined by the old lady who was in charge of letting people in a d getting them setup for their tasting. She was very rude to us, expected us to know when we were allowed to move and when we werent without any instructions. She even went as far as to tell me exactly I had to stand at the bar if we wanted to be served. Not to mention she pulled people out of line that were behind us and let them go first all the while saying she was full and had no room for us.
Tried to visit during a road trip, no contact via phone or email two weeks prior. We stopped anyway to find out you have to buy a house tour ticket to get into the winery $89. Wasnt interested in the house. According to the ticket agent on the grounds this time of year they dont sell just winery tickets. They might want to list that on the website or answer the phone or return an email.
Always a pleasure going to the winery at Biltmore. Large selection of wine and very helpful staff. Join the Vanderbilt wine club and get free samples.
Most of the employees pouring the tastings are fun and knowledgeable. They give you like 7 samples and it’s free. Check out the champagne bar across from the winery. They also serve other wines there.
We were very disappointed with the complimentary tastings ( for which you need, at minimum, a $ 21.00 ticket). No information about the grapes, growing process, or vintage - just 5 miniscule pours and information on how to join the wine club. The cellar tour is $10 extra, any other wine experience is at least $25.00 extra. For a much better experience, go to Parker-Binns or Burnt Shirt Vineyards in Lake Lure.
The wines were delicious and affordable. The atmosphere was fun and our bartender Matthew was knowledgable and fun.
A lot of the appeal of the winery here is the free tasting. Is a lot of what you’re drinking grown on the Estate, or even from the state of North Carolina? No. Is the wine really any good? It’s okay, but there’s certainly better quality wine grown in the foothills of NC. I was even disappointed by how little the employees knew about their own wine, or wine in general. They’re fine if you’re a casual wine connoisseur, but less helpful if you’re more a knowledgeable wine aficionado. That said, it is nice for the buzz, and the winery itself is very nice to be in. There’s a huge gift shop, a free and premium tour, and the area around the winery is nice to walk around.
Wine tastings.for as long as you like with friendly staff
Very nice
Great experience. Most of wines from imported grapes. Nice store, pleasant staff. Carl was perfect.
If you like wine you wont want to miss visiting the Biltmore Winery. You will get to taste the wines and meet people from all over the world. My favorite is Johannisburgh Riesling...a delicate slightly sweet wine. The red wines are hardy and robust that are wonderful for drinking or cooking. But it isnt just the wine tasting, the staff at the castle are just so nice. You cant help but have a wonderful experience!
Cozy place and so very nature centered.
