Taking out of the equation the fun I had from the show and the excellent weather that day, as those will change the experience depending on the show and time, I thought the venue itself was nice. Its location was good, the staff seemed very professional, and the equipment sounded nice. I never felt unsafe and things looked clean. Food smelled greasy, beer garden appeared properly coordinated. The location is rather bare bones, I didnt see the building facilities and was just in the audience section which was just a flat asphalt lot in front of the stage. The stage faces the sunset which can lead to amazing shots but it can be intense if the sun is in your face, the stage doesnt provide a lot of shadow.
Great venue! Affordable tickets, really reasonable beer prices. You can heat and just about see the stage from the boardwalk, but buy tickets if you really want to see. Doors open about 1/2-3/4 hour before opening act. The lines go around the block, but move quickly. Try for metered parking first, lots are $25 and fill quick. We paid $6 metered for 5hours. One bad thing....all standing, NO seating.
Had a great time at the Stone Pony. The place is iconic and I always enjoy mtcy trips here but its been a while.... that being said I did have a couple of issues. I hate smokers!!! Sometimes I wish I didnt have to do securities job for them sometimes. My wife is allergic and I just hate it so we moved way to the back in the non smoking section. Still people smoking that I asked nicely to move while pointing out its non smoking area. Stage was great but the sun sets behind it so it kills ur eyes a bit in the early parts of the show. Last thing and sorry for all the complaints but the tickets said 530pm and I thought that seemed early but I was there for Cake and Ben Folds so that might explain it. Nope there were 2 other bands Ben didnt go on til 730ish and Cake after 9pm. It makes for a long day. Luckily I love Cake..... the food and the band
Great venue! Staff was awesome, let me put wrist band on opposite arm due to brace on hand. Drinks were very reasonably priced. Cant wait to see another show there next time Im in Jersey!
Had an amazing night at the stone pony. We saw almost Queen and a Fleetwood max cover band and had a blast. The food and drinks weren’t too overpriced so we were able to get a lot for our money. It was very crowded but still very easy to get to the front of the crowd. Overall I will definitely be coming here again. We also spent a lot of time on the beach listening to the music before we decided to go in so that was pretty cool.
Saw a concert here very well put together and easy to get to
Great concert venue big and open but still feels intimate. Drinks and food are easy to get to and priced more reasonably than most other concert venues.
If youre going to have a show that involves a projector...know when the sun sets. I paid for a 4hr show and got 1 hr and 40 mins long show, after a 2 hr delay. Not pleased
Saw Game Grumps Live and it was fantastic. Great stage with good workers. Highly recommend shows here.
Pony is an excellent institution. Its a survivor that still produces and supports good sounds. I have been going there since 78. Its more than Bruce and is more than Asbury.
One of the best venues in New Jersey. Especially if the weather is just right and the sun is setting at the perfect moment u cant go wrong with this place
Two stars because they oversold the event. It was impossible to get a spot to chill and listen and see the band. IMO the point of having an outdoor venue is to enjoy the bars and the fresh air with a little breathing room. I’ve been to shows there that were great, had the right amount of crowd. At the most recent show it was difficult to get a drink — Even inside the venue which is usually less crowded - it was Wall to Wall and took forever to order a drink. To make things worse there wa a band playing indoors too. So you couldn’t even hear the band you actually paid to see. Why pay 30-50 for a ticket to NOT be able to enjoy the show??
I went to the Pony with an old friend (Michelle) a great bartender at the Headliner in Neptune next to Belmar to see Rumors and Almost Queen play on The Stone Pony Summer Stage. That Is where I found TR (OG Bartender from the Pony!)and his fair Lady. If I can tell you how much fun I had my fingers would be cramping! Its back! Give Me (Wolf the First DJ at at The World Famous Stone Pony!) a break!IT IS HERE!! IM FEELING THE LOVE !
Great line up but the outdoor venue is without shade and you stand on a hot blacktop.
The stage is too low. If youre not right up against it, or really tall, you cant see the performers. No screens either. Im 64 and I could see from half way back. My 57 wife could only hear. She couldnt see anyone except for brief glimpses when enough average and short people lined up between her and the stage.
The bartender thought I was drunk because i tried paying her twice but still proceeded to take my money and let me leave with a drink. Didn’t take the drink back or give me my money. didnt offer me water or snacks to sober me up. Instead she had security grab me and kick me out without even offering me an option to call a cab when I told them my phone was dead. Just sent a small girl out into the street alone and “drunk” which is a huge liability if I had gotten hurt or worse. Not very smart or professional.
Great venue inside and out. Seen Claypool / Lennon, Clutch, Killswitch Engage, Flaming Lips, this summer, 2019. Going back for Social Distortion, Flogging Molly, Stone Temple Pilots & Rival Sons before the end of the season.I suggest buying tickets at the box office to avoid excess fees.
Standard outdoor venue on pavement. Beer garden and fried food once inside. Get to the boardwalk before you enter though, you MUST try the pork tacos at the Mogo taco stand on the boardwalk.
Be prepared to stand but the backdrop, history and overall experience is thrilling!
Had a really good time at darkstar orchestra and just wanna say that the security staff were cool as hell, especially In the handicap section where I was, the woman that ran that area knew exactly what to do, I think her name was Barbara, she made my night with her professionalism
Been coming here since I was a kid. Bartenders are nice, place is legendary, space out back is a bonus. Summer Stage hosts some great national talent. There is no dress code here, leave your nice stuff in the car. This is a classic dive bar in the highest regard.
Ive been coming here since the early 70s when MRS. Jays was next door. What can I say the STONE PONY was and is a great place for summer jams!
Such a fun venue for a show, but they have to be done by 10pm because of noise ordinances.
Nice venue on the beach. Somewhat compact you can get up close to the band. Good acoustics. Lots of concession stands and bathroom facilities. Just be prepared to stand. There is no seating and as bands play expect it to become crowded and hard to move. If you are at all claustrophobic - avoid. Or if you have difficulty standing for long periods. But if you are in good shape and like to be close to the preformances. You cant get much better than this - especially if its a pleasant summer night with a comfortable breeze.
Its ok if youre into the outdoor festival atmosphere. But youre pretty much trapped in there for the duration.
Got kicked in the head by a guy crowd surfing dressed as a pro wrestler at a Coheed and Cambria show and ended up with a concussion. Best night of my life, 10/10 would get kicked in the head here again
The venue got us all in real fast and the show was great!
Awesome outdoor concert venue, pretty small/intimate for an outdoor venue which lends to some great shows. Unique food vendors and plenty of bars line the sides of the venue and the separation of each bands merch leads to shorter overall lines. Had problems with security in the past but this time they all seemed very chill and well behaved, some even enjoying the show along with the fans. Would definitely come here again.
They have A LOT of bars. 3 on the inside and at least 3 on the outside so there isnt a very long wait. The drinks are fairly priced for a concert venue, $6 for a well cocktail. They also have jello shots, the pina colada one tastes just like straight up coconut. I like coconut but that was rough to get through. The outside space is just the standard concert venue. The inside is really awesome though. They have real bathrooms in there so you dont have to use a porta potty and it is air conditioned. There was a burrito place inside and the buffalo tots are to die for. Make sure you get a look at the inside if you go there during the summer.
Went Here For Many Concerts, Including All Time Low/Dashboard Confessional. Tickets For Summer Stage Shows Are Usually $20 - $30, But Can Go Up To $56 Or So. Almost Every Show Is Never Sold Out, But You Should Get There Early, As Parking Is Limited. Big Name Bands Like Southside Johnny & Greta Van Fleet (They Will Be On The Summer Stage In May 2019) Will Sell Out Pretty Fast, So Get Tickets Early. I Recommend Leaving Children 6 & Under Home, Because Of The Summer Heat. This Place Is A MUST SEE For ANY Concertgoer. Even For One Concert, Its Worth It :)
Stoked for the Summer 2019. The Bouncing Souls. Best first time in Jersey EVER!!!
Pleasantly surprised at how great this venue was. We werent sure what to expect, figuring it would just be a small setup outside of the bar. Instead, they have a huge area and do a great job putting on concerts.Plenty of food and drink options and not at all overpriced.
Good except standing on concrete. No seating
Love the summer stage! Keep the great line ups coming!
Great outdoor venue. Great drink prices for a concert venue too!!
Thanks for the whole day in the hot tub anhuucfgd shower just getthiing back to u in my u up ue tlhe OthelloW pepfb. To.PleasesseaaaaxeIll get you ds Union or something funny jllyilo isllllloppl lll
The security began letting people in at 4:30 and online announcements said the show would start at 5:30. The show didnt start until 7! And there was limited food and drink options in the overheated crowd. When we tried to leave the exits were not well marked which is a safety concern. Pretty typical venue setup overall, just understand what youre signing up for.
Excellent old style concerts everyone is chill-laxed.
Great venue for national acts in a more intimate place!
Summer stage is ok... but I try hard not to go to any of these shows unless its a band I truly truly need to see and its their only area show. Its summer... Its HOT... Its tightly packed. That being said, its very uncomfortable. There is no shade as its a black top parking lot so be ready to sweat. Its also really tough moving from your spot to get a drink or use the bathroom so we just dont really buy drinks there which kind of stinks.Because its a parking lot, there is no grading or slope which makes it impossible to see anything if youre short. They really need to raise the stage another foot or two or offer a screen or something.
Loved the summer stage. Went for an almost queen concert
It was a fun time to see the Game Grumps.
Great venue for shows when you get the right weather
Fantastic show. Blues traveler n moe.... phenominal!
Always a great time at the Stone Pony Summer Stage!! Great music in the open ocean air!!
Got there early...parked right next to entrance and spent day on beach..chnaged in car and went inside..No seating..I am handicapped and did not see any seating even for people with disability...so I only stayed for In This Moment...good natured crowd..We all had fun!
Simply the best venue, the best staff, plenty of space, great view from every location, plenty to eat and drink all at reasonable prices for a concert venue, and the crowd is like one huge happy family.
Amazing venue! Perfectly sized for an amazing concert experience.
Great outdoor venue to see good bands.
Best place around to see big time bands
Greta Van Fleet! Nice venue.Tickets too pricey for Stone Pony though. Over crowded.GVF was fantastic!
Such a great venue. Sound system was perfect. Not ear splitting but you could feel the rythm. Awesome
Great venue!
Honestly the best time I had in a concert venue!!!
On a beautiful night, you cant go wrong with this music venue. If you cant afford a ticket, bring a beach chair and sit across the street on the grassy area near the boardwalk to listen.
Great outdoor summer stage. Lots of room, decent vendors and awesome sound. Staff was helpful and loved cracking jokes - fun times!
Fun time. Good music.
Up close and personal, clean, great time.
Its a classic venue in an awesome location.
Awesome venue, and probably the must fun you can have in Asbury
The place to be in the summer with free weekly concerts!
Fantastic wounderful night
Its the Stone Pony... Need I say more! Just go there already!
Great open air venue. I wish there was some semblance of a place to sit besides indoors. Maybe its just my tired feet.
This was the most efficient concert Ive ever been too. Never any lines for a bar. It ruled.
Well run. Lots of concert goers but still plenty of room to mill about.
One of my favorite places for outdoor concerts. Worth the trip from MD every time.
Saw Flogging Molly and Social Distortion here and the stage setting was great!
What a great place. It was such a good venue to see concerts
Awesome shows and loads of fun!
Awesome place for a show, they know how to run a concert and its always a great time.
Stone Pony and the Watermark
Killswitch show was awesome!
Good location, ocean breezes, great sound
Great outdoor venue!
Dont go to this venue! Only if you want to be body search aggressively ! By toothless, broke, angry Asbury Park Townies ! Watch from the boardwalk! For free !
Great set up...
Best place for summer concerts. One block away from the beach and restaurants.
Always a blast, its not the summer without summer stage
Great venue. Staff and security are pleasant.
Great outdoor venue
Fav place for concerts!!!
Great venue, iconic in so many ways, right in the middle of downtown Asbury Park
Overall good vibes.
