Perfect place to take kids to appreciate nature. You can find an abandoned fox den, observe various birds, plants and animal tracks. In the spring, milkweed and monarch butterflies are everywhere! Also, many frogs and cattails. Portable toilets on site, easy parking lot, perfect field to bring a picnic.

A nice wildlife refuge to visit in an urban area. We visited on a late Wednesday afternoon and parked at the shared parking lot with the medical suite at the corner of Kipling St and W 80th Ave. The refuge is split into east and west sides. The west side is mostly prairie with a looping trail. On our way to the east side of the park, we saw a muskrat and mallards in the Croke Canal. The east side has trails around the two ponds and more prairie where we spotted rabbits and numerous birds. There is a portable restroom on the trail near the east side parking lot. The tank was nearly full, out of hand sanitizer, and didn’t have an updated service record knocking my review down to 4 stars. The hours for the two sides differ: East side is open May thru September Tuesdays thru Fridays 8am-4pm and Saturdays 8am-7pm; West side is open year round from dawn to dusk. A fun place to walk around to escape the city.

Lovely outdoor area to see an array of plants and wildlife. Big area, but not too big. Trails for walking around. I do bike around as well, but some of the trails are too small for bikes.

Except for the suburban homes on the horizon in every direction, this is a few square blocks of dense and thriving NATURE. The wooded entrance from the lot quickly unfolds into an oasis in the foothills, abuzz with bugs, birds, frogs and movement all around. The trails loop through tall prarie grass, thick cattails, cottonwoods and prickly pear cactus. The ponds are bustling with waterfowl going and coming from all directions .

Pretty neat little place and its pretty quiet in the off-season. What could be better than a wildlife refuge with two ponds? Only one with 3 or 4 or 500!!! hahaha.

Demonstrates the natural state of the area before residential construction, lots of growth and trees. This refuge brings great amounts of diverse wildlife. Beautiful birds including eagles have been spotted flying above or near this area. Deer are common in the winter, and coyote like to roam at night, along with foxes and raccoons. Its best to keep in pets in at night if you live in the area, as cats go missing quite often! Including one of my own a few years back

I love this gem in the northwest metro area. This small refuge gives you a sense of the serenity and beauty that existed in the natural grasslands of the front range pre-industrialization. It is a great place for a small hike and fabulous bird watching!

Ive always loved Two Ponds, ever since I was a little guy. A wonderful place to wander around in in the city, with multiple paths and directions that you can take. A great place to see wetlands flora and fauna, and usually relatively quiet-always a good place to gather your thoughts.

Very nice, fantastic bird watching in early morning. Dogs not allowed in park, but there is a nice, dog-friendly path just to the South and west of the main part of the reserve, along a canal.

Very nice what they have done here, my grandma and grandpa lighter owened part of the park along with dr.marshall. which is where I spent a lot of my child hood picking veggies from the garden, tending chickens, rabbits and many other animals. We used to swim and fish the very ponds that are there today along with all the wonderful wildlife.Nice job National Park Service..Many thanks, Glenn Tavenner
