Wonderful park. Telhe park has a great infrastructure that can be enjoyed by everyone. A Great Lake with clear water for boating, kayaking or swimming. Long and beautiful trails. Trails for hiking, horseback riding. Comfortable cabins. And a relatively new resort type of accommodation, with rooms, restaurant and swimming pool. This was our first time there, but we will certainly come back.

We called to book campsites. We explained that we would have 6 adults and 1 child and 3 tents. We were told 2 campsites would be sufficient as each site was allowed to have 2 tents. A couple hours after arrival the guy on the gator came by saying we had to pay additional fees for the 3rd tent. We went to the office to explain the situation and they were unwilling to rectify their mistake. The office staff and manager were extremely unprofessional and rude. The park is beautiful, but due to the poor customer service we will not be returning. They should have fixed their mistake or at least been apologetic about it.

Had reservations this passed Saturday-Tue. When I arrived to the cabin it was filthy. The table, floors were sticky and the shower wasnt cleaned it had a pile of hairs on the drain which indicated it wasnt cleaned. I addressed it to the front desk agents which acted like it wasnt a big deal. I had to clean it up myself because no one cared to take care of the matter. Im very disappointed with the service. Overall park is great, peaceful and quiet but attention to service was very disappointing.

Its a great little getaway, the only thing I disappointed with was they charge per tent not per spot. And which was not very clearly written when we book online. Ranger stopped by and asked for additional charge for additional tents and we agreed after little battle lol. Other than that nice place, we loved it.

Beautiful, easy accessible state park. Bluest lake waters around. Several different campsites to choose from and theyre all great in their own way. The problem with this specific park is theres a lot of squatters (people that dont pay for sites) and people that simply dont follow and enforce the rules. The primitive tent campground, Ski Jump, clearly states no day use or RVs, but we had a huge group (about 15 people) squeeze in between our site and the one next to us with several cars, jet skis, AND an RV. All day we had to deal with loud music and the sound of jet skis.In all, its a great place, just too many inconsiderate folk.

Just stayed 3 days and nights in both a cabin and the Lodge. I came prepared to clean the cabin and clean I did! Floors were very dirty. Overall it was better than I hoped. Bring dish soap, sponge, dish towels if you plan to cook! Lodge room was a little more money, but definitely an upgrade. Besides a very slow drain in the tub, the room was very nice. We had buffet breakfast at the Blue heron restaurant. For $9 it was wonderful! Service was very good everywhere. Friends camped at elephant rock and it was gorgeous! I recommend the sunset cruise also. So informative and fun. I would definitely return with my RV!

I really liked these lake, It was very nice and clean. I like that there was always a park truck driving by checking on people, even at nigth. It felt safe specifically because there was a coyote that came by our camp site around mid nigth, oh and lets not forget the raccoon, too! Bathrooms where clean, the park was clean, and the park staff where so friendly, oh and the views all around where so beautiful. The only thing I personally did not liked was the waters edge...I didnt like it because it looked dirty. Although I think that might had been because it had rained and the movement of the dirt, once people where entering and exiting the water. BUT I will definitely go back.

Absolutely amazing. The lodge itself was clean and modern (we did not stay at the lodge, but did wander around) but the highlight is clearly the lake and all the amenities. You can rent from a huge selection of water craft (all the way up to full party barges) and theres an amazing water play area for the kids. Everyone had huge fun kayaking around the lake and jumping on trampolines in the water!

We stayed at Elephant Rock campground during a wet spring break. Some camping sites are reservable, some are first come first served. Back in sites away from water about 50 yards were private and had a concrete picnic table, fire ring, and concrete or gravel pads. A nice paved walking path wound around the campground thru the woods. We got the last site available which unfortunately was muddy and the fire ring was down an incline. Let’s just say, if we had known, we could have had a great time repeatedly sliding down the slick hill to the fire ring and a creek at the bottom. Nice small playground, fishing allowed, some sites back up right to the water. Some had sewer, some did not, but there is a dump station in the campground. Cost was $22 per night. We enjoyed it, and so did our grandchildren!

Boat docks everywhere, boat rentals too, cabins, lodge, tent camping and (RV with water and electricity 27.00 a night.) Lots of walking trails and bank fishing. We never caught anything though. Public toilets, showers and i believe washing machines? Horse back riding near by and short ride to Ardmore if you forgot something. First come for over 200 sites, never a problem finding a spot

Finishing up a weekend at cabin 256. This little one bedroom was $225 (w/tax) for two nights because its the off-season. I really enjoyed its large windows and that theres a walking trail to the tennis court and waterpark. The waterpark is closed, but its still nice to know for Summer booking. Its pretty cold for the tennis court too, but it is a nice little space for skating and riding bikes. The cabin itself is kinda tucked away and has a nice seclusion to it. The full kitchen is really convenient and the sleeper sofa is actually very comfy! I did not expect that. The shower is ADA compliant. Which is cool. Outside the front door theres a picnic table and a fire ring. On a different side there is a little grill and another picnic table. We have family in a cabin around the corner and all the kiddos enjoyed running around the well-maintained park. We enjoyed breakfast at the Lodge. Its a breakfast buffet with the main staples of scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon, fruit, pancakes, etc. They will also cook eggs to order. That was reasonably priced too. It was about $22 for two adults and a child with two drinks.

We had a great time exploring! The nature center and lodge are newer. The lodge is set up just like a hotel and has balconies that overlook the lake. Tucker tower was a step back in history to the 1930s. I cant wait to visit in the summer when the canoes, kayaks, etc are available to rent. We stayed in group camp 3. The dining facility was nice, but the cabins are in major need of attention. I assume that because of the historical landmark status, they are difficult to get repaired.

During the summer months Lake Murray State Park may be a bit hard to access. In most instances It is Well patrolled by a small community of Rangers that work there. Fairly safe, however I would recommend planning ahead before going. Sometimes finding a camping spot if you plan on staying there is a bit hard. Lodging is available at Lake Murray State Lodge. Park has issues with cleaning, they are working on those issues. Has nothing to do with the workers there, just the people that stay there.
