Saw this place on the map and was curious to see it. Best decision ever! There are several ways to get there. We chose to get there by hiking for 1.5 hrs on a partially very steep path. I would highly recommend to wear good hiking boots as the path can be quite slippery and did I mention that it can be quite steep. The water in the little ponds is exceptionally warm but not too hot. The environment is beautiful and taking a hot bath surrounded by mountains and just beside the a creek is a great experience. Highly recommend to visit this hidden jewel.

The hot spring pools are on the south side of the river. If you access from the Bowen ranch side, you need to cross the river. You can find wooden barrier on the mountain wall. That is the landmark that you can cross by jumping from rock to rock. It is not hard to cross. Or you can take a short cut. Find the shallowest point of the river, and just walk over. The river water is freezing cold.Hot spring pools are amazing. Hot springs are at the bottom of the valley. The valley is very beautiful and the elevation difference is very high.As more and more people get to this place, more trash are showing along the poolside. Volunteerism is much needed to protect this hidden gem.

Overrated, this would be a oasis if humans didn’t trash it or live here. Watch out for wooks on Lsd. The water itself is questionable, there was one pool that was acceptable. I’m sure these pools are never cleaned. Also pack in and out everything, unless you want to make the hike out at night you will be stranded til daylight. Hard to carry your stuff without a pack mule. Bring all ur stuff with you, because you won’t be able to just “go get it from the car” the hard part is the hike back. And if it’s during summer, you will die if you don’t have enough water, bring a water filter. or just take more Lsd. Be mindful of dogs in warm weather. It’s no joke.Good place if you’re into walking around naked on drugs. Definitely not kid friendly.

Nice desert oasis, chill vibe and fun atmosphere. A long gradual hike from the south or a short extremely steep hike from the north will reward you with a truly beautiful area, There are hot thermal pools to soak in and away from the most popular pools there are hot spots along the river .There is little oversight from the local rangers which leads to some pros and cons. Free spirited people often roam around naked, those that wish to let loose and party are able to do so without anyone telling them otherwise. Unfortunately not all value its beauty and leave behind trash. Your not supposed to camp within a mile of the creek but people often do, this would be great if it wasnt for the occasional campers that stay for extended periods of time and turn the place into a makeshift homeless encampment. If you catch it when its empty and clean it truly is special.

Been going there for the past 23 years, I will try to go there every Full Moon, in the summer is better to hike down at sunset so you dont have to deal with the crazy heat plus the Full Moon lights up the trail pretty good, no flashlights needed. Miss Mike the owner of Bowen Ranch where the entrance was to the parking lot. We went Monday half a mile passed Mikes property where they made a new campground. Jessica was nice charged $10/person who is the new owner of the new entrance/campground. We hiked down at sunset. Dont forget to make a sharp right when you get down to the bottom of the first hill youll see a wider sandy road follow it straight for about a 100 feet then sharp right to get up to your second hill...there is an old gate and turquoise dots showing youre on the right trail. it took us 17 minutes walking kind of slow to get to the Deep Creek sign which comes up after you made the sharp right turn the begging of the second hill. after that its hard to get lost the trail continues all the way down to the hotsprings. When you get down to the bottom of the hill you will hear the Creek just follow the trail to the left till you see the lake cross it and you will see the hotsprings inside the rocks. There were 5 pools 2 in the lake and 3 in the rocks. Each different temperature but all super comfortable. I love this place so much I cant even believe the amazing benefits of this hotsprings. I had 2 herniated discs and terrible sciatica pain all year couldnt even walk at all for a month. Finally got back on my feet and I hiked down in August 6th in the Full Moon in soo much pain and agony. Soaked all night in the Womb* (second pool in the rock the biggest of all) and miraculously all my pain was gone. Not kidding!!! Hiking back up is way more challenging but so beautiful and peaceful. I call this place: my hospital always cures me recharges me and makes me so happy. Definitely worth every second of the difficult hike!! It took us 1.25 hr. to get down and 2.25hrs. to hike back up comfortably taking breaks...Im 42...Also I love to listen to the strange cloaking of the Southwestern Arroyo Toad which is unfortunately a highly endangered frog species that lives nowhere else. And also some cute fish that are super friendly and comes up to you while soaking in the lake pool and nibbles on your dead skin cells I did get the best pedicure by these cute fishes. not joking....Not much light pollution either you would be thrilled to see so many stars especially when its a meteor shower....Ive done this hike so many times at night even in the cold winter in the rain without flashlights....love this place....It is such a unique and miraculous place, clothing is optional keep it in mind... but please guys take your trash with you and do not vandalize the beautiful rocks with nasty graffiti. Please do take a lot of water with you unfortunately the old copper pipe is gone where the drinkable fresh water was coming out from the rocks....Respect and enjoy to the fullest....

The hot springs are awesome and all natural. Also, clothing optional along with some booze and smokes(pot). Therefore, be mindful, if youre easily offended or visiting with children. The hike from Bradford Ridge is very strenuous, so hike at your own risk with proper hiking shoes, (required) plenty of water, sunscreen and snacks. You will travel through the canyon descending down to the hot springs. On the way back is very difficult and will exhaust you with much terrain to cover. I highly suggest starting this hike early in the morning, so you can safely take your time descending. Once you arrive at the hot springs, you can relax and meet some cool people. Everyone was friendly on the day, I visited and made the visit more enjoyable.*please pack up all your trash and take it with you.*Enjoy the hike and be safe.

One of my favorite places to visit year round, I try to go as many time as possible. From the Bowen Ranch side you can hike down to the hot springs nude and I recommend it as you may feel more connected to mother earth. The times that I have done it have all been great experiences and have not felt judge by other hikers or bathers. At the springs the vibe is always really chill and visitors will engage you if you want to be social or leave you alone if solitude is your peace. In the summer it can be overwhelmingly hot so make sure to prepare for the hike back(water, water, WATER!). No one judges you whether you like to bathe with shirt and pants on or with nothing it all. Its a great place any time of year keep in mind winter is less crowded due to the coldness of the creek, in the summer get there early to get a place to put your stuff. Everyone that visits is in it for their own experience and no one is judging each other. Pack out whatever you pack in and a little more if you can carry it out to keep the place clean and enjoyable for all.

The rating is actually 5 stars for the hot springs. the hike and the hot springs is beautiful and most definitely a hidden gem. make sure to know where you are going coming back to your car. it seems follow the blue marking.my main reason for this review is to bring attention to hiking with your bigger dogs. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE if you have no to little experience hiking with your dog or hiking in general please DO NOT BRING YOUR DOG! our hike was yesterday (mid July) temperatures were over 100 degrees! If you still choose to bring your dog, make sure your dog is capable and be fully ready and geared for your dog. remember it is not a natural thing for an animal to “go for a hike” especially in scorching heat. poor things are just following us owners.yesterday on our hike we came across the most terrible scenario. this poor girl, a 2 year old beautiful and friendly Rottweiler, went into shock (i’m assuming heat stroke) and passed away. i don’t know enough of the situation to put any kind of blame on anyone but given the situation and where we are, i can only assume the owner was either being reckless or did not know any better. i did pass them on the way down and it was 2 younger looking girls, maybe mid twenties? HOWEVER, what is absolutely not excusable is that the owners just left her. they placed towels over her body and just left her. picture attached. Please don’t be selfish and be mindful of our fur babies.

I absolutely love this place, it is so magical and beautiful. I have come here a half a dozen times now and have never been disappointed. The hike in down Bradford ridge is pretty strenuous but certainly worth it. Its always hard to predict the weather for this place because it is always warmer than the lake Arrowhead weather and much different than nearby Apple valley weather. The weather prediction that we were shown for this specific location by Google was probably 10° colder than what we actually experienced. So bring lots of layers! Ive also drank the water here several times out of the source of the spring and never had any issues.

Great hike with awesome views. Hot springs are perfectly hot and mostly clear of plant debris. Do not pay to park. Go around the private property. Trail head to springs is about 1.5 miles, about 2 miles if you park before the black diamond trail. Its a 1000+ft decent. Bring at least a gallon of water per person in the summer. 100oz is good for winter. Pack out your trash. Its a wilderness area so you will see nude people in their natural habitat, perfectly legal so enjoy!

Dont ruin everyone elses experience in nature by blasting music, please! and clean up after yourselves! Geez! Very bumpy road but easily doable with a regular car. The old Bowen Ranch parking lot is blocked off by a fence with razor wire. You have to walk around it. Current price is five bucks per person for day use. Great day hike to Deep Creek Hot Springs. I loved this place. There are a couple different ways to get to the hot springs but we took the Bradford Ridge Path. Bradford was about 2.5 miles and was mostly flat except for the last .5 mile going to the hot springs which was very steep but not too difficult. Our hike took about 1 hr and 40 mins in and about the same amount of time going out. This place is known to be clothing optional and the trail is also known to be clothing optional so you will see naked people there but its not a big deal. This place is known to get busy on weekends and holidays. We went on a Wednesday and there was about 15 people there.

My friends and I got lost because we didnt know where to start on the hike which led to stay in the heat longer than we had to. Go on the hike during cooler times like fall or spring but not in the summer when its 100+ degrees. My friend got a panick attack on the hike and another one got heat exhaustion so please be careful. We did not finish the hike and had to go back sadly.

Beautiful hike with a good elevation difference - getting to the hot springs is downhill which makes it easy enough, but fording the icy creek makes getting into the hot springs especially satisfying! The only disadvantage is cross the cold water to get back, and then hiking uphill. Bring plenty of water and stay on the trail, otherwise it would be easy to get lost!

This was exactly the kind of natural hot spring Ive been searching for my entire life. They (as in the other randos around) said the water coming out of the pipe is safe to drink. Since Id run out of my water on my way in, I had no choice but to fill up, but tried not to drink much of it on the trek back due to my skepticism from previous backpack outings. I tested the water when I got home and here are my results: there is potentially harmful bacteria in the water and the pesticides test came out inconclusive. If its just giardia, theres a tablet you can add to your water for that, but further testing is required. If anyone wants to beat me to it, please do and post back here! It would be nice just to need a tablet or filter to reload on water for the trek out!

One of my favorite hot springs. There are several trails to get here. I have been visiting the hot springs for the last 3 years. I think probably the best time to go is during the winter. The water is always hot and at least during the winter you dont get over heated. During the summer the hot springs can be packed full of people. Like I said before the water is always hot so in the summer people tend to spend more time splashing around in the creek instead of the hot springs. No matter what season though this place is always fun. Also a great place to shed all your clothes and enjoy the freedoms of nature.

Deep Creek has three beautiful hotsprings, but there are some things you should know before you go:Google maps did not send me the right way, it took us over a mountain instead of through the desert to Bowen Ranch. The easiest way of getting in is through Bowen Ranch which is private property and has an entrance fee of $5/person (not per car) during the day and $10/person for overnight visits. This fee provides you with a photocopied hand drawn map down to the springs and a place to park your car.The hike from parking down to the hot springs is about 45 minutes to an hour. Many people frequent this place. Everyone from day trippers from LA to backpackers, to hippies and nomads, to people taking their dogs for walks. The train is steep and pretty difficult at times. Coming back up was hardest for me as I have exercise induced asthma and am not it the best shape. But I did it! So you probably can too.Bring lots of water! (theres a spicket but its not purified enough to drink it.)Some people bring chalk to make their way back at turns in the path.Make sure to look backwards from where you come on your way down so you know where to go on the return trip.I do not recommend going there late in the day and trying to hike back to your car in the dark. It is extremely difficult to tell where the trail is in the dark because of all the other paths made by animals, off-roaders, and mountain bikers.I speak from experience that it is not fun getting lost in the dark in that desert. My group and I only managed to reconnect with the other half of our group and our cars by howling to each other from one hill to the other. We could see the road (theres a dirt road you cross about halfway through the trail) but we could not get to it due to a barbed wire fence. Finally, with the help of some friendly night hikers, we manages to find our way back. But it was a bit frightening.I have gone back since then and gotten over that experience, but wanted to share it so that others might learn from our mistakes.Have fun!

Took my wife here for her birthday. Planed on camping since their website says their is camping. Google sends us off roading and directs us up a steep dirt trail only a quad or 4x4 could climb lol and we drove around the desert lost for several hours. Sun went down. Signage is very minimal. Arrive at bowen ranch and sign says turn off motor and out by sundown no camping? So we go next door to the new and improved parking/fake campground and see a few trailers but again a sign says no camping out by dark lol. A dog comes out growling at us so we just left and drove away to find a spot to camp. I call the number and a woman answers and says they didnt plan on having anyone camp this weekend lol okay thanks for leading us on. I ask her if we can just camp out here off the road on blm land and she says yes but be careful you can ask around the owner of bowen ranch likes to break peoples windows out with a baseball bat. At this point Im glad I brought my shotgun. I ask her if we can just camp on her property for the night she says yes and I cant charge you so you can save some money. Then we pull up and she changes her mind and says it will be $30. It seemed like everyone out their was high on meth and shady. Not wanting to get into a shoot out to protect myself and my wife we decided to go into helmet and had to sleep in our truck until the clean safe well lighted campground opened in the morning.

I took the Bowen ranch way to get to Deep Creek Hot SpringsFrom LA its about 2 hrs drive just to the ranch. Leading up to the ranch the road turns into a dirt road suitable for most sedans but then it gets rougher; sand, up hills, steep downhills, potholes (huge ones) and while I made it in a small sedan I would recommend going in a truck or higher clearance vehicle. The ranch:Yes, the stories are somewhat true: the people can be rude. I was asked where I was from and said I was coming from LA and they then began to get irritated for no other reason than I was from LA.i follow their directions; turn off your car even if youre not close to the pay booth, listen to their instructions and rescue mission stories, pay the 10 bucks per person and was set on my way down the dirt road also with giant potholesThe hike:Its a gorgeous desert hike downhill, I carried a cooler filled with 12 cans of soft drinks, 10 water bottles, ice and snacks + a water bag filled (2 liters), towels, and a change of clothes. Getting there is not a problem even with all thatIts the getting back, the trail is roughly 2.4 miles according to my garmin. Its an incline the entire way from the water back to the parking lot (dirt by the way). So Id suggest taking breaks and having waterThe hot springs:Stop reading and get there!! Its sooooooo worth it. The water is crisp away from the hot springs and the hot springs is well.. hot. When I got there there was about 20 people and maxed out at about 35. Everyone super chill and cool, different walks of life and just lost in the serene atmosphere. I will say do not bring kiddos, this is clothing optional and there are plenty of people doing it.Fun facts:Graffiti is stupid, dont put your art on rocks and natural objects in nature they do not belong to youIf you bring it, take it. Pack it out dont leave your trash. No lifeguard

There are trees at the bottom you can hang your hammock on too. There is a swing and a slack line to practice balancing. During the summer there are tons of little tadpoles that are fun to try and catch. There are 4 main hot springs. The top one is typically nudist and the hottest and then moving down to the lowest typically is coolest in temperature. The (presumed) Bowen ranch owner interrupted us as we were attempting to follow all of his rude and demanding instructions written in a threatening fashion with a manic hand. All the more unnecessary and disturbing since there is clearly an honor system set up to allow patrons to pay with envelopes in his absence. The man then started barking physical commands demanding that I stand in a certain place and demanding that I not follow certain rules that were written on his impolite signs. He demanded that we both leave the car and stand on his stoop? I was just fine standing in the ground so I stayed there. He then went into a smouldering rant about constantly having to send search and rescue missions ... Clearly exaggerated if true at all. When I would not follow strange and unpleasant physical commands that he gave or feign interest in answering completely off topic and prying questions (where I stand and where I drove from and whether I were to hand him a piece of paper that he himself put in a box for guests are not matters that concern this very unwell and unpleasant man) the man became increasingly angry.I tried my best simply not to engage more than necessary with this man and certainly did nothing impolite whatsoever. I handed him $20 did not ask for any change and waited for him to stop talking hoping I could just get back in the car and not see him ever again. When he seemed to sense that I was not going to engage with him in any kind of personal way the long-haired old white man flew into a rage started swearing at me saying insulting names I wont repeat here end demanded that we leave the property. The man is clearly a lonely man and a cowardly and insecure bully. I followed every logical written instruction I could and simply did not want to engage with this man or follow any of his unnecessary impolite and totally inappropriate physical commands. From what others have said about this man it is very clear that he will try to make a deep and unhealthy emotional connection with anyone coming on what he purports at least to be his land because hes severely unwell and desperate. Many people have reported this man following them around the property and the hot springs lording his bully like behaviour over people on land that does not even belong to him. (The ranch near the hot springs is private but the springs are public and can be accessed otherwise, and he is reported to have verbally assaulted people all the way to the springs). It would not be a surprise to me that a man who is as insecure and cowardly as he is Will have a gun that he will resort to if someone demonstrates the limits of this mans right to impose his sickness on other people. He is reported to have slashed the tires of and pulled a shotgun on at least one person because of his emotional and mental instability. Expect violence.

Entire hike is exposed, great fall-spring hike might be too much in the summer heat. The springs themselves are wonderful, the water isnt too sulfer-y so not stinky though there is plenty of dark green algae in the pools, they get hotter the further up you go, hottest I felt was about 102*F. The water in deep creek is fridgid so be prepared for a few moments of cold to get to the warm waters of the springs. Clothing optional so also be prepared for nudity. Very beautiful hike! It’s very steep going down and coming back up. Bring alots of water! The water is extremely beautiful, and the hot springs are so perfect! Bring water shoes so the rocks won’t cut you. but definitely 10/10 and plus the owner was very nice! He has water for the guest if you run out! travel light, and wear light clothes...also clothing is very optional...so don’t be shy lol

Love this place, absolute Oasis. Please clean up your trash! And I hate to say it...but take some others trash with you too... Because some idiots cant clean up after themselves.

July 28@1pm very challenging hike. Bradford Ridge path is a 2.5 mile hike and according to Google only 1hr 7 min hike, it took us over 2hrs in the heat. The last section before the creek, is down a steep ridge (a lot of sliding, on rocks and dirt).

MIKE IS A COOL DUDE, be respectful!! Trail is hot, recommend going early as possible. Feels great to get in the water but be careful of cutting your feet (as i did). Way back up is brutal, take breaks whenever theres shade. The road up isnt as bad as they make it seem, still lots of rocks so be careful but very doable for FWD. Have fun, dont litter!

This place is amazing..Hopefully you dont mind a little nudity.. I know I dont Anyway the hike isnt too bad only 2 miles.Bring lots of water (enough for the hike out everyone forgets that)The water is pretty clean, but right now the snowbis melting so the creek and pond is very very cold...But there are still 4 different pools that are all hot except 1 is just warm right now

NOW $10 PER PERSON, not $5. Landowner was angry, apathetic, burnt out, rude, and tired. Told me hes trying to shut the place down, as hes tired of baby sitting and its been nothing but bad memories. Get it while its good, but be ok paying 2x per person. Fun while it lasted, hope someone else steps up and keep access here cheap, fair, and clean.

Great little spot in the middle of nowhere. All paths leading to it require a 30+ minute hike. If you want a gnarly hike along with this place, take the Pacific Crest trail (for experienced hikers only). BRING ALOT OF WATER!

Its a great place to go hiking. Probably not for the first timer. Its a bit steep and the climb out can be taxing if youre not up to it. It is a little less than a thousand feet down to the creek over a two and a half mile trail. Also be prepared to see nude hikers in the parking lot and on the trails.
