Great nature preserve, perfect for exploring and learning without leaving A2. Find the train tracks, sit still and wait for deer to walk through... its all beautiful.

Its not a park in the traditional sense, but more a natural area. There are effectively no paths or clearing, just wild forest.

This park seems to be for the scenic benefit of the few rich people who live on its borders. There is not so much as a sign, a picnic table, or even a path, for visitors. Why did over a million dollars of public money pour into this?

About 35-40 years ago the land owner had an operating narrow gauge train running on this property. A friend living in Geddes Lakes (when it was still a new development, just inside the city limits) used to walk his dog up there and got to know the fellow. That was all township land then, call it the other side of the tracks, lol. The only reason I guess so much $ might have been spent on it would be to incorporate that area into the City. None of the big, rich, homes around the S end of Green Rd. existed then, but they now contribute to the tax base (unless Im mistaken). Unlike many large homes on the bluff overlooking Geddes Rd and the river at Gallup Park, which I believe are still in an island of twp and do not add to the City tax base. Not too bad a deal for posterity I would think.

Ive been there twice and have yet to find a sign of any sort indicating this is a park. It appears you would enter off of Narrow Gauge Way. When its not so snowy, Ill give that a try.
