A remarkable building in its own right, I was completely surprised and impressed with the ticket lottery that they ran in the afternoon that I was there. Fortunately I was lucky enough to win two discounted tickets to the Book of Mormon! The theatre was packed but the friendly staff made the whole experience pleasant and seamless - well done!
Beautiful huge midern theater complex. Lots of helpful ushers and great staff, front & back.
A few minutes before Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone was screened live in concert! Another great experience at Atwood. Only suggestion would be to possibly give the seats a bit more padding. Normally, its fine, but after 3 hours it does start to feel like you are sitting on a board. Other than that, an amazing performance center that deserves more recognition!
Saw Harry Potter w/Anchorage Symphony and it was fantastic. Wish there were more movies they would do like this one. Packed performance too..dont miss out on the next one. Also makes me think about going to other Symphony events.
Wonderful Venue. Very helpful VOLUNTEER group! Traveling through Anchorage, I bought a single ticket to the NUTCRACKER matinee, and was surrounded by mesmerized children and their parents, grandparents. The house was packed, the production sparkled with much fun and a fresh take on the classic ballet. And what a beautiful Atwood Concert Hall. Very impressive, Anchorage!
Absolutely beautiful concert hall with great performances! So why two stars? They really missed the ball when installing their sound system. For reference, I was sitting slightly right of center on the main floor (not a balcony). Not to get technical, but everything above 1k sounded muffled. In lamens terms, vocal clarity was lacking, music was missing depth, and while the acoustics in the room are great, it doesnt matter since the sound was lacking in the first place. To compensate for the muffled sound, it sounds like they are boosting the 1k and up frequencies, causing the speakers to distort and becoming piercing. With that being said, I have thoroughly enjoyed the performance here. Perhaps a live orchestra without amplified sound would be much better. The performances I saw all used recorded music.
Had a lovely time at the show, sound quality was good. not too loud, and soft when it was supposed to be. i sat In the balcony or mezzanine. Perfect seats to be able to enjoy the stage performance and see the full set. however, the seats are slightly on the skinny side and for a full figured man it was a bit of a squeeze. but not enough to deter going again
Beautiful venue, acoustics are excellent! Chicago was flawless and service very good. Go!️
Only real downside is the dont open the seating u till 10-+5 minutes before the performance to create excitement. But it gets hot fast with everyone standing and waiting. Very friendly ushers and great seats.word of. Caution not aisle seats are actual aisles. Some are on the floor aisle next to a half room wall with seats above.. so not easy e biting if you have kids or weak bladders.
Saw The Little Mermaid. Went with my cousin and my 7 year old daughter (her and my first time going together). Excellent performance, very talented group of people.
Amazing Theatre! The building itself is huge and conveniently located downtown adjacent to a large park and pay lot which makes for an easy and stress free parking plan. Everything is well organized with huge wide hallways and large double doors making the flow of traffic getting in and out od the actual theater rooms way easier than others Ive seen. We went to see the 2018 Nutcracker performance by the Eugene Ballet and it was fantastic! They brought in the Anchorage Symphany who were below the performance floor playing live. Great experience and they staff was also very helpful in guiding everyone to their exact seat locations.
Love this place. Been seeing shows here since I was a we lil lad
I am here for one day and was recommended to see a show. So glad I did.
Where else are you going to go in Anchorage? Its convenient to get to, and while up on the 4th level your nose might start bleeding its still a good venue.
Gorgeous venue, great acoustics, and the shows are wonderful. Went to see Book of Mormon and the theatre was beautiful. Just to make people aware the seats arent wide so if youre large youll be uncomfortable, if not it is easy to sit through the performance in comfort. Its also walking distance to all the fun spots down town, so that just adds to the appeal. Worth checking out.
Program was great. Seats were not overly comfortable. It was a bit warm, so you need to dress in layers. Then you can remove items if needed. Needs some up dating.
Beautiful building, nice concert hall.Great sound
The Anchorage Symphony Orchestra puts on a wonderful show and the Atwood Concert Hall is a great place to see it. We sat in the highest tier of seats, affectionately known as the nose bleed section. The acoustics were perfect, with every note filling the hall, and we were able to see the whole orchestra with a completely unobstructed view.
It is a good theater. Staff is always helpful and friendly. Seats are reasonably comfortable. Sound system is generally fine. Of course, your experience may vary depending on the production you are there to see.It would be nice if you didnt have to park down the street, but its Anchorage, not much choice.
Very nice venue. Great lineup this season.
Great show. moonrise with the Anchorage symphony
Great Cinderella performance, had a great view good crowd interaction and wasnt too cold in the theater
Attended the Texas Tenors show, in a word fantastic. Great show this evening, my wife and I thoroughly enjoyed this performance. Keep em coming.
Great seating. Sound is great. Parking garages nearby.
We love the theater and the shows promoted for kids.
We have seen some wonderful shows here! Amazing place!
Gorgeous interior and very well kept. Its in a great location, lots of garage parking nearby and always hosting great talent. Ive been quite a few times since moving here and Ill continue to go as long as Im in Anchorage.
I love Atwood Concert Hall. Its carpet is a little dated but the acoustics are nice, and the general experience is probably the best in Alaska. Drinks are sold outside during intermission, but theyre in the pricey side at $6 for a beer and $8 for wine. The only beverage allowed inside the hall is bottled water. No snacks so keep that in mind. Generally the shows are priced pretty well and even balcony seats offer a good view.
Had and wonderful time at an amazing show. My girlfriend and I loved watching Celtic Woman. They were spectacular.
Always a joy on a field trip with my lil sug... : )
Fantastic place to learn more about the arts!
Enjoyed The Book of Morman. Not what I thought but laughed a lot! Great music, singing and dancing too! (Definitely for adult audience)
Saw The Nutcracker. Performances were excellent and the Symphony Orchestra was superb!! We were in the balcony, but could see and hear very well. Lovely night in Anchorage, Alaska.
This is a new and modern facility. Restrooms are adequate in size and very clean. The sound system is very good. The downside of this place was my group got some anti-semitic remarks from other patrons which we reported to management and they didnt do a damn thing about it. For this reason alone I would not recommend this facility
The ballet was terrific. Difficult to get served during intermission; the theater was too warm.
The facility is prestigious, offering great acoustics and performance options throughout the year.
Clean, well staffed, classy and elegant. Has great views of the town square. Sound is amazing inside and I have loved every show Ive been to. The experience is a high quality theatre here in Alaska.
A great place for shows.
A surprisingly positive atmosphere for a relatively small market in Alaska. Always have had great expierance with staff, also I havent found a bad seat yet. Bravo!
Its a very nice place
Shen Yun starts tonight and we are seeing the first show. When entering the concert hall, the usher stops us and says we need a ticket for the 1 year old in our group. This just ruined the show, and I never plan on coming here again. And a note to Atwood, if you are going to use te homology to scan tickets; get people who can use the scanners
The staff there arent knowledgeable on policies and procedures. I had staff giving me conflicting information and I will not be giving them anymore of my money. The show was great, but three of the staff that work there were horrible.
Saw the nutcracker tonight, it was visually stunning. I love that you can enjoy a glass of wine during the show and they sell the most amazing ornaments.
Always has a good concert.
I love going there.
Always enjoy the shows here.
GreAt entertainment yeaR round
The show was excellent but the cold air blowing on us for the entire show....was definitely REFRESHING!
Beautiful performance of Shen Yun! Music, costumes, choreography and sets were all superb!
Nice theater and building. Could not see stage clearly from my seat. Dont sit in the back if you want to see.
Great venue. Theirs gold water fountains dude.
Cirque was phenominal! !
Always a Great show. Always great people trying to help. Its a beautiful venue.
Chaperoned my 9 year olds class amd a few other classes from her school and it was fun. Will likely do more chaperoning in the future.
The best experience you can get in Anchorage. Parking usually sucks.
I always enjoy going to the Atwood! The people who work/volunteer there are kind and helpful, however the seating is uncomfortable and the nose bleed seats can require a painful twist of your neck to watch the stage.
The Arlo Guthrie concert was wonderful! Daughter Sarah sang the lead in a number of the songs and was very good. A son and Sarahs husband were the rest of the band, giving a different feel than Arlos solo performances.
Wonderful very nice. I look forward to going again.
Was a small bit cozy venue. Were able to see the stage fairly well even from the moderately priced seats. Sound quality was fine too. Wouldnt hesitate to see another show here.
Was wonderful went there to see Celtic Woman Christmas concert the wife and eye loved it a lot!
Always great shows here
Please fix your water fountains. Everytime I go, I have to buy expensive water bottle from the vending machines
Cabaret, an excellent production. I am so glad the Anchorage Concert Association brought such a good production to Anchorage. Also a good history lesson of how things can go so wrong so quickly.
Beautiful concert hall. Very good visibility in nearly every seat.
Saw the Celtic Woman Christmas concert. Loved the venue and ease of preordering drinks for the intermission.
Sound issues show called short for feedback mics
Really love the musical we went to see. I just really didnt like the story of it
Always offered wonderful entertainment just at a price thats beyond the reach of some.
Saw The Book of Mormon here. So fun! Every seat feels like a great seat!
Went to see Little Shop of Horrors, it was great. Definitely would recommend.
Good place...great seating. Youll have a great time.
A lovely hall. Enjoyed the Nutcracker 2018
Loved the Texas Tenors. Gre as t show
Went for the silent movie, definitely enjoyed it. Nice location
The entire PAC is wonderful with an eclectic set of shows throughout the year. (And good wine selection too... the malbec is pretty great.)
Always enjoy the place but a bit of a drive from Clam Gulch Worth it
Compared to many many other venues that I have seen concerts across the country this is a nice Mall theater compared to some of the bigger venues the Acoustics are awesome I do wish more people would come up here to perform however but obviously thats due to demographics but its worth checking out support your community and go out on the town for the night
We saw The Sound of Music here and loved it!
Great shows at times. Seats could be more comfortable, but certainly not bad for a few shows a year.
The Anchorage Symphony Orchestra knocked it out of the park with their rendition of John Williams Music. Not to mention the beautiful concert hall with excellent acoustics.
Great place! Attractive, easy to use, nice area, very good sound and visual experience.
Saw a great show, no problems getting in and finding a seat.
The seats are old and cramped, but the hall suits its purpose. Its all about the talent that makes the evening here.
The seats I were in were up high but I could still see the show clearly and hear it clearly. The place is stunning.
Great performances!
Nice place for a symphony.
