Handicap -3, Love this course. Very difficult. Greens are the best around, role true and fast. Suggestions. On hot summer days, one cart person is not enough to keep everyone hydrated. No water on any holes, but this could be due to COVID. Only other thing is no rakes in bunkers, and they could have been a little more consistent. Outside that great course

A Rees Jones designed course that uses the natural topography to create a challenging experience. There are five sets of tees to allow players of different skills to enjoy a round. There are multiple holes that have 30-40 feet of elevation change. Worth the trip to play.

Well maintained, great course. Awesome practice area, beautiful club house in a nice area. I teed off at 8:00 AM, their first tee time. The course was very wet, I would recommend playing later in the day, bunkers and greens needed more time to dry out. Its a great deal for a quality public course, some of the best public golf Ive played. Worth the 45 minute drive from downtown Atlanta.

Possibly one of the best courses in North GA! I regularly play this course and it is always in great shape. Greens role true, fairways are in perfect condition, and the rough is just the right height. Every staff member I have met has been very polite and helpful. I always feel welcome here. Thank you EGC, keep up the good work!

Best semi-public course in metro Atlanta and its not even close. 7500 yds if you want it -- we played 6500 (Blue). The layout, greens, views, proshop guys, and restaurant -- all 100%. Would live here if theyd let me.

We had a fantastic time at Echelon today. The course is in amazing shape, and greens are rolling great. It is a very demanding course, and you are definitely punished for bad shots and rewarded for good shots. Awesome layout with lots of elevation changes. We will be back for sure!

This course is truly something to behold...It is extremely punishing if you’re playing from the wrong tees, but is fair with no goofy holes. The views are amazing because of the elevation changes and the course was in really great shape after a long, wet and cold winter. On top of great golf, the staff is great and the restaurant is very good as well. It’s well worth the price and the trip north.

First visit. Very enjoyable course. Played from the white tees. The fairways were forgiving, and the par 5s are long. The staff was very friendly. Enjoyed a snack in the restaurant after the first nine, then continued to the back. Fortunate to find a Monday morning hot-deal on Golf Now. Will return.

Tough Course. Plays very long. The rough is almost US Open tough. The greens are very nice considering it is the end of Summer that was very hot and dry. Most bent grass greens have bare spots and little grass at this time, but this superintendent has done a great job. The only issue I have at this time is the traps need to be maintained a little better.I wish they would make the rough a little easier to play. If there was a tournament this is what you would expect, but most of us are working stiffs and need to have a layout that is a little more enjoyable and easier to score better. The card says it is around 6500 yards, but it is a long 6500. Play the whites if you are used to playing a course shorter than 6500. The white tees are around 6000 yards. I think if they had a mix of the blue and whit tees they would have a perfect course for members and good weekend golfers. The pace of play was 4:15 on a Saturday morning, which I think is acceptable. The difficulty may have caused the people in front of us to play it in just over 4 hours. I look for the course to get better than it already is in the Fall.

This course looks amazing when you review the website but unfortunately the conditions were less than ideal. The fairways were brown and bare. The scorecard has no course map and the carts do not have GPS. Considering the amount of doglegs and hazards on the course that was unacceptable. The layout is very good and challenging. A few holes had quirky layout but most were good. There is no clubhouse. They have a permanent trailer as a makeshift clubhouse with few amenities. With the condition of the course they should have offered a winter rate. This round was not worth $79. I would not go back and play course again. If you plan to play I would recommend going their first and make sure the conditions are to your expectations. This course has the potential to be amazing if the conditions were good.

Nice course. Challenging but not tricked up difficult. Play what the course gives you and you should be able to navigate it. Play outside your skillset and it will crush you. Not sure a high handicapper would enjoy the high rough and uphill shots as I suspect it would make for a long day.

I feel I am very fair minded in regards to reviews so here it is.Over all its a pretty nice course but a few words of caution...Ask before you show up and/or pay if its cart path only! If it is, turn around and run!!! VERY hilly course. One you will not enjoy playing if its cart path only.Another thing, we paid over $87 to play and when we drove up we were greeted with a trailer for a clubhouse. Wasnt impressed with that at all. The fairways were pretty decent and the greens were fun but challenging, which was fine. But not worth $87.

Favorite course in Georgia. Plenty of room off the tees, strategically placed bunkers, big, undulating greens with some big penalties for missing them. And while its only 6552 from the blues, the elevation changes and layout makes it feel longer (and its 1k yards longer from the tips, btw). I kind of agree with the guy who said if its cart path only, run away because youre in for a lot of walking, and it may be hilly walking. That aside, its a great track and usually well-maintained. Played last Saturday - had a ball.

One of the best, hardest courses in GA. Course is in GREAT shape on a consistent basis. If you appreciate the game of golf more than a lavish clubhouse with flat-screen tvs and chicken fingers, this is the place to play. Bring your A game, or a lot of extra golf balls.

The Good:Echelon is a fantastic course and challenging from any of the tees. Make sure you take extra balls because its easy to lose one in the thick rough. The Bad:The ball marks are leaving brown spots and looks like they arent going to heal properly. Im not an expert but my guess is its from the daily rain weve had for the last several months. Half of the bunkers werent raked which is annoying for a round near $100.

Great layout. Fairways are good. Greens are a little beat up which is normal for Bent in July. NO WATER IN 100 degree heat is border line negligent though. Cart kid said maintenance only fills them once per day. If thats the case, the owners really need to put additional coolers out. There are only 4 on the course and by 3PM they are bone dry. Not cool.

As I was playing Echelon Golf Club I could not believe that it was a public course. Easily a $150+ course if this were up in the Northeast, but I found the price to be very reasonable for the outstanding quality. This amazingly scenic, challenging Rees Jones course is not to be missed if you are in the Alpharetta, GA area. Course has great variety and beautiful, sculpted bunkering. Many water and marshy features throughout just add to the overall ambiance!

Review №61

Beautiful course, great layout. But beware. If I had spent just a little more time reading reviews I would not have selected this course for a foursome. Not that it isnt a nice course, but because of the level of difficulty. If you are a less than say 12 handicap, you will love this place. It plays long because it is rather hilly. (One of the workers there told our group that if we couldnt hit a straight 270 off of tee, to play white, not blue. Blue was around 6600 yds. We took his advice.) It still is a challenge for the higher handicaps even from the whites. On this day the bermuda rough was brutal. The course is described as open, which it is. But the bermuda is so thick that just finding your ball was challenge and getting out of it was even worse. I echo the comments about cart path only. We played on 90 degree rule. You will walk a bunch on a hilly track regardless. I thought the staff there was great. The only thing we thought was unusual was the greens-keeper making us wait (about 15 minutes) while they cut one of the greens. Maybe Im old school, but usually the mower people stop for the golfers, not the other way around. Dont be surprised about the ball marks. This is a public course and they do have greens that are sort of struggling with the heat and all of he rain (this is July, 2017). It looks like the public isnt that interested in fixing their ball marks, too bad. If you are looking for a challenge, go here. Youll get what you want.
