Not the nicest or most comfortable, but definitely the best snack bar and the best movies.
Was very surprised and happy that the theater has its own parking lot in back of the building. Solano Ave parking is always challenging .
Love landmark theatres! However, Im docking them a star because they store their fresh popcorn in an unheated display window instead of the popper. Yes, I am a popcorn purist!
Beautiful old fashioned theater. Clean charming and the wonderful crepe restaurant we ate at; Crepe Suzette, made the day complete. Im going back for the Albany Film Festival again next year!!! Loved my day in Albany...what a sweet little town. Thanks Maryanne.
We went to watch The Aeronauts and that was our visit of this local theater. It has only two big screens. I felt the seat was bigger and more comfortable than the ones in Century or AMC.
Great theatre and staff. Very classic movie theater and good prices for movies. Always fun time here. And the great Albany film festival every year
Smaller theater with 3-4 movies. Easy street parking though might need to park at a meter, depending upon time of day. Tend to show artsy films.
Really nice older (read that as spacious) theater! Free parking (when lot isnt full) behind theater. Super friendly staff and the most awesome buttered popcorn! Lots of capacity and plenty of good seats!
Small town theater feel.. Great experience
The Albany Twin is quaint theater that hosts a lively movie-going community. I saw Brooklyn there a couple of years ago and many of the audience members were all greeting each other and catching up. Later, I overheard the people behind me talking about the book on which the movie was based, and I got some great advice on things to read. You dont expect that kind of welcome at the movies. It just seems natural at Albany Twin. Ive been back since and look forward to my next visit.
Nice small theater, we love this place!
Good theatre though it was a bit chilly inside
Nice old theater in a cute community. Large venue and they normally show Indie movies which is wonderful. Decent snack bar, but save room for after the movie because the town has great food restaurants and options. Friendly staff is a plus.
Aot of art films here.....wine also served....nice
Adorable small theatre! Went to watch Call Me By My Name, a scarcely available independent film. Comfortable seats, good popcorn. Hardly packed for a Saturday night, which is good for me but hopefully not bad for business. Great neighborhood: stopped by new modern gift shop Morningtide, Hals Coffee for tea, got my nails done all before the 7 PM showing.
Great old time theater
I love going here and the staff is very responsive and responsible the popcorn was excellent I wish they had more food options and non-dairy ice cream but it was really a wonderful experience
Good for throw back fun
Great neighborhood cinema, small parking lot, lots of restaurants nearby. Great films!
Charming theatre, friendly staff. Glad to have a local place to go to also. No, not a ton of showings or movie choices but always something good.
Small, historic theaters like this are an endangered species.
Love this local art house theatre! They feature a variety of indie, classic, avant garde, & short films. Recently, I went to see the rockumentary Satan & Adam during the Albany Intl Film Fest. I came back a few weeks later to see Gloria. Great location in downtown closeby many eateries & cafes. Bonus: They have a small lot in back of the theatre. Will be back soon.
Always an enjoyable movie theatre..Smart movie selections. Just saw The Shoplifters.
Great local theater experience
They are getting ready to show Harriet here and I am offended by that
Two screens, Good programming, and a friendly crew. Upscale films, no blockbusters, and decent prices. Theres even off-street parking, though its not obvious how to find it. The upper screen is in an intimate (small) room, but the lower screening room is large. A venue for serious film.
A true gem. Happy to support such a professionally run bussieness.
Always movies I love.Dont forget the free parking lot out back!
Really cute movie theater, with good popcorn and candy selection. You can get frozen junior mints!
Cool place to see a movie.
Quaint theatre and great staff, just wish the snack counter stayed open later
Great historic theater
They show films not shown at other theaters.
Great movies and popcorn! Real butter! Sound volume is not over done and it feels like old movie theater but modern.
Im USUALLY an IMAX type of person. I visited this theater this week for the first time to go see Wont You Be My Neighbor it was AMAZING views. I also loved the cleanliness of the place after the movie. When I go to IMAX people just leave their food and drinks behind at Albany Twin I didnt see that happening.
Sit downstairs (theatre #1) for the big screen and wheelchair accessibility. Seats are not super comfortable, but good concession choices and great indie films with good restaurants nearby for pre or post movie meals.
Love it great place great staff and great movies
Great local, vintage theater, with only two screens (one big and one small) keeping with the old-school motif in many of its films and tbeater ambience. Hosts the heralded Jewish Film Festival in July-August and featuring Landmark art films among others
Good little indie theater, not always great or easy parking, but surrounding restaurants are good
Consistently showing films for adults, with an occasional foreign feature, this is a well-run, comfortable theater. Theres a parking lot behind the building. Freshly popped corn with real butter - buy a large, youll want the refill!
I love this place. I can walk here, they play indie films, the staff are friendly and the price is right. They also have midnight showings of Rocky Horror Picture Show.
Great popcorn, wonderful and attentive staff.
We love this theatre mainly because it never shows violent trashy previews! And I can dependon movies being top ranked by reviewers and intellectually interesting and emotionally rich.
Lovely old school theater with a focus on independent film. As a movie-going experience, the age of the facilities and amenities leave much to be desired.
Always love going to the Twin to watch the Rocky Horror Picture Show!
All International, Indie movies.
Good art house theatre. There is a parking lot behind the theatre, always full time on the weekdays. Ok parking on the weekdays for the early shows
Great little theater, showing quality movies.
Nice place enjoyed the Chinese New Year performance. My niece was in it.
This is one of the best theaters Ive been to. Absolutely love this place. Its tied for first place with 2 other theaters that are all in my top 3. The little antique bathrooms, the auditorium, the little box office outside, the old cracked terrazzo pavement design out front, and the type of films they run, and even the type of audience it attracts (since its up in rich town, there are none of the abusive people that you find at the theaters in downtown areas). I disagree with the people leaving bad reviews on here.2 other extraordinary theaters - the alameda in alameda, CA near OAKLAND. Also there is an amazing one in Santa Barbara far cooler than any other I’ve been to.
A very quiet, comfortable theater that never disappoints
Very friendly staff. Comfy theater.
Great theater! A cozy feeling throughout the building and staff are excellent.
Historic building.
Great small-town feel, no crazy crowds and very clean.
This is really the only real art house movie theater in the East Bay.You can almost always count on this theater to have the best current independent and critically acclaimed movies for grown-ups.
I am a huge fan of Landmark in general, but this place had the rudest guy working at a theater I have ever met. (A simple question by phone was met with scorn and ridicule) So, this gets one of my completely rare bad reviews.
Hard to get out of there, mfers.
Its a cute place. Theyre theatre could smell a little better though
Feels quaint just two screens gets. Film you wont see else were
Classic old timey theatre in downtown Albany. The seats are not the most comfy but the theatre is cute and all the employees I interacted with were friendly. Coming from a small town $11.00 for an evening show is a bit steep for me but i will surely be back probably just not as often. I noticed a lot of chairs which were a challenge for some of the older patrons.
I enjoyed the two SF Jewish Film Festival films I saw at this theater. Cup hollders are on the back of the seat in front instead of on arm rests.
Great movie, The Darkest Hour, comfortable seats, nice place!
T324 loves our neighbor the Albany Twin. Its a charming time-travel experience to visit this fine old Deco theater for classy art films- though we wish theyd occasionally show some sci-fi action movies for staffer Suzanne!
Great neighborhood cinema. Wish it last long.
Screens arent huge, but the staff are great and its a good local vibe
A real cinema palace
Nice small neighborhood theater showing good films.
Parking difficult. Staff very good.
Classic old theatres with two viewing screens
Nice community theater.
Great independent films.
Lovely small theater
Great place for independent and foreign films.
