Visited prior to Coronavirus. It was, OK. Budget and other issues show in house and grounds which is sad. Wondered how this property will hold out as historic monuments, etc change in society. Have toured properties throughout the world. This was just OK. Not bad. Not great.

Incredible guides that knew the place in and out with lots of original artifacts. The guides told of all the places that people would be and how a room that would seem normal in our times was a huge show of power with handpainted wallpapers shipped across the ocean. They also told a story of the gouge that you can see in the staircase rail where an Indian supposedly threw a tomahawk at Philip schuyler. A very cool experience to see places where many famous people dined and dance. Highly recommend.

Very well organized and informative tour. They have done a great job restoring and replicating the house to the way it looked while the Schuylers lived there.

THE SCHUYLER MANSION BROKE GROUND IN 1761 AND WAS COMPLETED IN 1765. THE SCHUYLER FAMILY MOVED IN 1766. THEY DONT KNOW HOW MUCH IT COST TO BUILD BECAUSE THY ALSO USED BUILDING MATERIALS FROM THEIR LAND BUT IF THY WERE TO BUILD IT TODAY THE COST WOULD BE AROUND 8 MILLION DOLLARS. IT IS A FINE EXAMPLE OF A GEORGIAN STYLE HOME AND WAS THE CENTER POINT OF HIGH SOCIETY IN THE ALBANY AREA. THE TOUR GUIDE REALLY KNEW HIS STUFF AND MADE THE TOUR VERY INTERESTING. IF YOU LIKE TO SEE THE HOUSE YOU CA VISIT IT FROM May – October, HOURS: 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Wednesday - Sunday.

The 2 ladies touring us around the property were great. 3 stars because your only allowed to see half of the house; the attic and cellar are completely closed off. Thanks for the response

The docent focused on liberal dogma and politics rather than speaking about how exceptional the Schuylers were. Totally ruined our visit. Be prepared to argue with the limited brainwashed mentality of staff that dont value America as a great country or respect our founding fathers.

Had a wonderful experience at the museum with my son on 7/24/2020. The museum has just reopened from the pandemic and we were greeted by Cassidy who is a local student working for the museum. She was incredible. She not only got us checked in but then proceeded to give my son and I in-depth and very interesting tour of the mansion. I hadn’t realized the historical significance of the Schuyler family and learned a wealth of knowledge. I would definitely recommend visiting the museum if you are a history buff and when you do ask for Cassidy!

We took the focus tour named When Alexander Hamilton Called Albany Home and loved it. We got to see where Alex and Eliza got married and they tied in a lot of the show into the tour.

We happened to come after the last official tour, but the guy here were kind enough to give us a half hour tour (which he called a quick tour) he knew alot about the Mansion. It was great!

Attended hourly tour of the Schuyler Mansion.Guides were accommodating with a larger group than usual by splitting into two and conducting dual tours. The site itself was beautiful, the main house supplemented by a small selection of souvenirs to purchase, and a couple of rooms giving information about the preservation, history and archaeology of the site.Guides were knowledgeable and friendly, encouraged questions, and explored a variety of facets of the house and family based on visitor interests and their own research, which included the war crimes of Gen. Schuyler and the familys slaves.Fans of Hamilton will enjoy the connections, but be warned that theres no pandering to the musicals sanitised version of events!Visit lasted approx. 50 minutes. Smaller children may find a lack of things to hold their interest as the mansion is mostly observational, with little interaction.Limited disabled access (interior stairs etc).

Went here yesterday March 30, 2019!! Loved it. Built 1762... beautiful 257 year old house. Amazing standing in the room where Eliza Schuyler and Alexander Hamilton married in 1780. Highly recommend visiting this historic site if you are in Albany ny (or live here and never went!). Go on a guided tour of the inside.

A must see place for anyone interested in American History: Philip Schuyler spies came here with their reports, Alexander Hamilton lived here for two years, George Washington, Benjamin Franklin visited this house. The house miraculously survived for over 300 years without major reconstruction and contains many authentic articles of furniture. Our guide was very engaging and knew everything from history of the country to names of the slaves to history of woodwork. Both teenage kids and adults greatly enjoyed the visit that took little over an hour.
