I cant help but to notice so many great reviews, then in a CPL small patches, and a few occasional one star totally negative ratings just show up. I dont know if you have a competitor, disgruntled employee, partner,or what but it seems as if someone has it out for you. I myself find it hard to believe that 99% are real between the John Smith type names, and the fact that all these bad reviewers have one review accredited to there name it seems a bit fishy. I wont even go into how there entire experience was bad,etc anyway I hope you open back up soon,so I can be there to experience what so many others seem to enjoy! Good luck
Great local non-profit theater. Art house stuff, special events, decent but slow bar staffed by volunteers. You feel good about spending money here to have cool stuff in a smaller city.
Really great independent theatre. Staff is very kind. They show lots of awesome movies that you might not see at one of the big theatres. They have a bar, and themed drinks for every movie they show. Seats are comfortable, especially if you sit in the very front. I have seen 3 things here, and I will keep coming back.
A cinema for people who love film.Any time an independent movie comes out, I always check out to see if its playing here first. Unlike the big chains, you dont need to worry about people talking throughout the movie, playing on their phones, or generally being rude. Every time Ive gone here, I have had a wonderful experience, and cannot express enough how lucky we are to have the Nightlight here in our city. The theater is small, but cozy, and there is a real atmosphere of love for film, both the staff and the other patrons.
Loved loved loved this gitchy little theater. The staff was super friendly and the young lady working the concession stand was so sweet and polite! I loved the cozy feel of this theater. The seating is comfortable sized seats with room to stretch your legs. The prices are very reasonable and the film we saw, The Farewell was excellent! I am looking forward to becoming a member and going back often
Bad staff.. rude attitudes. Drinks were terribly made.. and everything was filthy... I came to this dump a couple days and I will never return. Ever again... after all the positive reviews... I expected a nice experience...
I went to this movie theater recently and nothing about it was good. Terrible staff, terrible food and despite the effort to make it seem classy, this place felt like a low rent trashy theater. The only high point about it was the movie itself (Waves). I dont recommend this place at all.
This is my favorite place in Akron. We are so lucky to have such a wonderful theater. The people who work here are very passionate about film and fun to talk to. I love that they host screenings of older films as well as having a great variety of new cinema. The concessions are very reasonably priced with a great bar selection. Love the themed drinks! I am a member here and very happily come out once a month, at minimum.
Saw Honeyboy tonight and really liked the special cocktail they created for the film - but my high rating is for the amazing way that this small cinemapromotes community and cinema together by screening great indie and art house fare in a great space with great local drinks and treats.
Fantastic cinema experience. Intimate but fun venue, friendly customer service, great (old-fashioned) concessions and more. Went to a screening of the Oscar nominated animated shorts and was blown away at the quality of the projection as well. Highly recommend this theater for any kind of movie experience - family, date nights, etc.
A wonderful little independent theatre with shows that rival the big ones. Cozy atmosphere with big comfortable seats, and a bar, if youre so inclined. Its accessible inside to the theater and bathroom, and if you arrive early enough to get parking on the street, your good to go.
This place is absolutely disgraceful! My experience going to this movie theater was not a pleasent experience. Everything came off as unorganized and a mess. The staff involved were very unprofessional in both behavior and what I could hear them saying. The things they said were horribly inappropriate. I really wanted to like this place but I cant recommend this place to any of more friends. I expected better of this place but now I would rather go to a Drive in, in the middle of the winter with no car or clothes than deal with these people EVER AGAIN!!!
A small and wonderful movie theater. If it is a popular movie, I would definitely recommend buying your tickets ahead of time because the theater is small and will sell out.
Great atmosphere, unique movies, comfortable seating, and good concessions. The employees are friendly and knowledgeable. There really isnt much else to ask for in a movie theater.
This theater was terrible. I came here to see the lighthouse and I did not enjoy anything about going. Here the staff was not friendly. They had a horrible attitude and they couldnt bother to talk to the customers. They came off as if they wanted to be anywhere but the nightlight. There was a strong incompetence level with how everything was ran. I did not enjoy the experience being at the building and I am grateful there are still some other movie theaters like Cinemark in tinsletown or valley view that you can still go to because I would hate to think the nightlight is my only option. Take my word for it you can do a lot better then the nightlight. It was a serious waste of time. I cant begin to imagine how bad management is if there staff is any reflection of them
Cute little theater to see independent films and enjoy mixed drinks while you do.
An amazing indie theater in Akron! Cool crafted cocktails based on the movie showing. Small and intimate setting really adds to showing of a good movie.
Good lord, I love this place - Id live there if theyd let me! Sweet little theater in downtown Akron that shows all the movies I want to see, often ones that are too cool for mainstream theaters. Cocktails and snacks are available in the lobby, plush reclining seating in the front row if you get there early.
Another great experience at the Nightlight! I enjoy the pre-show commentary!
Horrible just horrible. going to this place was awful and i would not recommend it at all.
First time here, came to see Beetlejuice. Great theater, love the size. Definitely handicap accessible for anyone who needs it. Good coffee, fantastic cocktails (I had a cranberry mule). Cant wait to come back, we loved it!!! Telling everyone we know about it! Love that its nonprofit. IMPORTANT TO KNOW: Make sure you buy your tickets through the theaters website rather than Fandango, the theater doesnt charge any fees!
An amazing movie theater all around. I enjoy every time i go in, even if some of the movies are extra weird.
Beautiful, intimate and a treasure for our area. Ive only been there once, but it was a pleasure. Im looking forward to going back, even though Im from the area but moved away and now its a 45-minute drive, its well worth it. The employees were so kind and welcoming, since I said Id not been there before. This place is small, but dont overlook it, its a feather in Akrons cap.
This is my favorite theater i’ve ever been to. nice staff, intimate viewing, and respectful crowds.
Fabulous theater. Great experience.
Love the nightlight always a good night out. Cool atmosphere great staff.
Small theater, good indie films.
Passionate staff, independent film screenings, local small business - whats not to like? Ill be back with friends.
One of the cities coolest spots. great for a date night or an excuse to get out have a cocktail and watch a great movie. Great staff and cozy feel. the best!
The Nightlight is Akron’s own little one screen art house movie theater. It’s a fantastic place to go and see a film that you might otherwise have to drive to Cleveland to see if you wanted to view it on a big screen. The theater only seats about 50 or so people, so you have to get your tickets ahead of time to guarantee a seat. But that is simple via their website. They upgraded their seats the other year to some nice, new comfy ones! The screen is definitely smaller than some big cineplex, but it fits the intimate room perfectly. Also, they serve alcohol for those who partake. Enjoy one of their signature, themed drinks that go along with the film they are showing. Popcorn and snacks are there for you too. If you want to hang out for a bit before or after the show, there is plenty of room and seating in the hallway (check out the local art being exhibited there while you are at it). If you are heading there, street parking is available, but it’s easiest to hit the parking deck less than a block away (free on weekends, and most evenings i think). Plenty of places to eat and drink right around the Nighlight also if you want to make a night out of it. Akronym brewing is by the parking deck, Crave restaurant is right around the corner, and much more.Go out and support your local non-profit art house theater and see a film. It’s worth it.
Awful theater. Dont even bother with this place.
Small theater with great accommodations. This theater highlights some of the more limited releases of films in addition to having a delightful little bar for beers and cocktails while you enjoy your film. Comfortable seating too!
They cRry great documentaries
Never disappointed! Love the small seating because you get more room. My chair was a recliner and had special spots in the arm rest for your things. I really love the movies that play there. Best part!
Im so happy that theres a place to see great films that are out of the mainstream! The proprietors are very knowledgeable about the films they are showing and make it a habit of introducing the films beforehand.Bonus- get there early enough and you can score the plush seats in front (unlike a regular theater, you wont be straining your neck if you opt for the front row)
The coolest venue! Great staff, awesome atmosphere, interesting films, and comfy seating. I found my new favorite spot downtown Akron!
This theater is perfect for seeing films that you would enjoy seeing in a smaller more intimate setting. I loved it. This was my first time seeing a film here, but it will definitely not be my last.
Clean and fun place to go with comfy seats!
Amazing theater! We just learned about this gem and have only been once but we will be back. The seats are so comfortable and roomy. They sell craft beers and it only seats about 50 so it feels like youre in a home theater. So awesome.
Awful movie theater. Staff sucked and there was nothing positive to say about this dump. Its a shame that this place is so awful because I honestly think this place has potential.
Would not recommend.
Absolutely amazing film selections. The world needs a gem like this, and The Nightlight never fails to provide that piece of culture that is far too often lost in pop culture. The new seats are AMAZING, and the staff truly cares about the moviegoers.(Also appreciate the stellar concession offerings.)Keep doing you, guys!
Went here for a showing of The Lighthouse. I never knew this place existed but it is now on the list of places for me to keep an eye on in Akron.
Love this place. I am a member and look forward in seeing many films here.....;)
First time will be back. Like the small clean theater, very comfortable. Nice staff. Especially likes the personal announcement before the show.
What a great resource for access to movies NOT found at the major chain theatres. Ill be back often!
I had never heard of this theater before a friend invited me to see RBG. It was quaint and has a great offering if films. I plan to go back for the next 2 movies that are coming to the theater. Another plus my friend pointed out is that you can buy a mixed drink and take it into the theater with you. I also like the fact that this theater is a nonprofit organization and right in downtown Akron.
This is hands down one of my favorite places in Akron and my favorite place to see movies anywhere. Ive never had a negative experience with the crowd, prices are better than other theatres, chairs are comfortable, amazing location, and theres a great selection of films that are played. Please go support this local landmark.
Very friendly. Great staff. I love it.
Best venue for watching great film. I love that the attendant introduces the film with a brief statement, putting the film in context and sharing its background. Go there!
One of the coolest places in town, even more if youre a movie snob. Plus they host cartoons for free every week on Saturday mornings. Definitely worth a look for anyone interested in the cinema scene.
This is a really neat little theatre that shows films that have been passed up by the mainstream theatres. The seats were comfortable and the theater is clean. In addition to the standard popcorn and pop they have a full bar and do themed drinks for each of the movies.
Nice little theater to see movies that wont come to your local multiplex, whether theyre classics or modern indie films. The audience is interested and respectful. The operators and employees care, and it shows.Definitely buy tickets online via their website before you go, as the theater is relatively small.
We came here to see a movie our daughter was in, and realized what a gem this place is! Were already planning our next visit and bringing friends. Its truly a pleasure visiting, and we cant wait to come back.
Love the Nightlight, they get a great variety of films and its a comfortable place. They have full bar service too.
I love this small, intimate theater with awesome indie showings and a nicely stocked bar.
With the last dregs of the previous management gone, Im thrilled to be able to attend the Nightlight again. However, $3.00 for three very small snickerdoodles? Not even if my mom made them.
Intimate theatre that shows independent and obscure films. Usually have a drink named after the title showing at a fair price. Very comfortable seats since the new ones were installed .
This is a great spot for Downtown Akron. The film selections are always of great taste and a really good variety. I also want to add that the bar has a great collection of craft beer, top shelf liquor, coffee, espresso, etc. I would definitely recommend this place to others, but be sure to order tickets ahead of time, they sell out quickly.
Liked how to guy came out and gave an intro at the beginning. Comfortable seeting. Front row is where its at.
Akron has its own art house theater! Lesser known and independent films are shown here. They have snacks and drinks plus a bar!
Cool little theater, enjoyed the visit and the showing of The Creature from the Black Lagoon.
Such a cool place to see a movie. Small and quaint. The perfect place for popular movies, indies, and everything in between.
The Nightlight is always a pleasure to go to. Love it!!
Single screen, art house movie theater with affordable and interesting food and drink (full bar!) options, knowledgeable and friendly staff who are unpretentious lovers of cinema, and an all-around great vibe in a gently lively area of downtown Akron.
This is just what Akron needs, it is a great venue, great atmosphere, and a very friendly staff. They show a wide variety of films, many of which you would not find in any other theaters in the area. I recommend The Nightlight to all of my friends, and feel great heading there to support a local business.
Great local theater. Comfy seats. Overpriced concessions as with any theater. Limited seating.
Our second time there. We really enjoy the smaller theater. Suggest getting there early for better seats.
Nice place. Nice people. Good movies. Comfy seats!
Great theater, finally a local place to see indie films. Great staff, and the concession stand/bar is great. They sometimes offer themed drinks depending on the films showing
Nice small theatre showing movies often not shown in conventional theatres. Employees are great too.
Ive been coming here for a year now, and its the only place Ill watch movies. They make the best cocktails, the employees know just about everything about movies, and if you love cinema you will absolutely love The Nightlight.
Simply super place!
Great place to catch independent movies, with a cool lounge and excellent bar. The films are generally introduced by the cinephile manager and the small theater gives a great shared experience.
We are members of the theater. A great place to see independent films in a small, cozy environment. Food, drinks, and snacks available, but we really love getting to see films that are not the standard fare in most theatres.
It was awesome, I didnt even know that it existed.
One of my favorite Akron spots right now. Great staff, excellent movies
A cool little theatre where if you fancy, can have a cocktail with your snacks as you watch films.
Great place! Small comfy movie theater, fantastic bar, and a separate area for sitting, relaxing, and socializing. One of my favorite spots in Akron.
Indie movie house. Intimate place. Great movies. Love the atmosphere.
Super fun way to watch movies! The staff was pleasant and the theater is very comfortable
Best place to see a film. Not a bad place to get a drink.
Cool place. Clean comfortable
Intimate, relaxed, thoughtful space that provides a great experience to watching films.
Intimate little theater with concession stand. Comfortable seating...
Nice little cozy place. Great for a date!
Definitely a very cool experience in Akron.
Friendly, not robotic, adult beverages, no children (not that I do not love kids but they should not be squirming behind me while I am watching a serious movie), cozy, diverse selection of movies and in the heart of Akron - this place should be packed every night!
Great venue, great movies, unique snacks and drinks. Best theatre in town!
Best place in Ohio to see a movie, full bar, and very comfortable new seats. The staff is also extremely friendly.
Wonderful, small indie movie theater. Hipster paradise :)
Pretty good place to see smaller run movies.
Nice little treasure!
Its cute and they show movies that I would never see otherwise.
A jewel in downtown Akron . Cool movies and a great staff
Will be back. Very nice place.
Where else can you see the Oscar Nominated Animated Shorts or indie movies? Small theater so order tickets ahead and then show up early to take advantage of the full bar.
