I feel this is a place in Akron everyone should visit at least once. I love the historical building, being there was a fun experience. I like the bar as well, it makes the movie fun. I remember when I was here the projector broke down, but they gave us tickets to come back whenever within the next year.

Highland Square Theatre is what going to the big screen was and is all about!! A one screen theater with the concession in the same room and amazingly beautiful art deco details!! Super clean, well run, THE BEST prices in tickets and concessions... I cant say enough about this neighborhood theater that is playing 1st run films!! A MUST GO!!

I love the idea of this theater. I truly do. To keep the nostalgia of times past, but revamping it for the present is great. The area is perfect for the theater. Very Bohemian still even if the area is losing shops. The theater has had some upgrades since the 30s for sure, however, the sound system they claim theyve updated is still not great. It is just flat. I cannot complain about the price - 5$ - and the concessions are cheaper than a normal theater, but the sound really does deter you from seeing anything you actually want to see. I only go here if I want to just kill time and not care about the film Im watching. It is only due to the sound system lacking. Besides that I truly recommend going. It is a great piece of history and an inexpensive family outing. Just be warned that the sound is not great.

Are you kidding me! This theater is perfectly perfect. Old school in every way. The price is so kind in todays time off growing movie prices. Seating is optional and or so many decisions, choices of seating from booths to tables to comfy movie seats. Kind owners that warmly greet you on your way in. Beer! Wine! Treats for the kiddos and adults, all in one room, so you never miss a minute of the film waiting in line for popcorn. Ideal for all ages. One of my happy place! I love this place! Thank you!

Cute local Akron theater. It only shows one film at a time! There is a bar in the back with the concessions. They recently upgraded the sound system and seating along with the ceiling. Sadly the acoustics of the building are too great. Since it is an open plan meaning the bar/concessions open to the Seatting area. You can hear every time they make a new batch of pop corn.

Best theater for $5. Very cheap snacks too. Never watch movies anywhere but here

Awesome little theatre with a full-service bar in the back. The new seats installed make this place even better. Concessions in the back along with the drinks. Tickets arent expensive and its a fun time and worth the stop. Great place for Akron.

Saw the Lion King at the Highland Square Theater. Enjoyed the movie & the tables in the bar area. Thats right yall a bar inside the theater. Hard liquor & draft beer. Small theater, but made me want w go back. LOL

I love this theater! Its affordable to take the whole family and even a few friends. I have moved out of town and still travel back here to take my family to the movies. The only thing I would advise is if it is a new or fairly new movie come early to obtain your tickets and get your seats bc they SELL OUT QUICK.... but its so worth it.

Have been to this theater twice. First time to see Bohemian Rhapsody and second to see Lion King. Prices are perfect, refreshments are good and seats are great. Plan to go back soon.

Terrific theater. How they keep their pricing is unknown to me but very appreciated. Having a bar during a movie makes a huge difference. One of the only theaters I go to regularly.

Cheap. Snacks are reasonably priced and the movie quality was good. Also staff was very polite.

You cant beat $5 for a new movie. They get a lot of the fandom movies on opening nights. Movies are usually only there for a week or 2 before it changes so check the website or marques regularly. Concessions are reasonably priced and they have a full bar. Bar prices are a bit above average, but remember you only paid $5 to get in vs $10+ at chain theatres.

Love the Nostalgic atmosphere, they should sell food items. Have a alcoholic beverage and watch a movie! Unfortunately my grandaughter is not ready to sit and watch a movie (Dumbo). She likes the giant posters!

They recently installed new seats, making their classic, one screen theater experience even better. Tickets are only five dollars, and concession stand prices are very reasonable. The concession stand also doubles as a bar, much like practically everything else in Highland Square.

Love the cheap movies I take my family here once or twice a month to check out whatever they playing at the time. Love that they serve alcohol also, always fun when the spirits are flowing right? Check it out, take the family, and save some money... What else can you ask for??

I love this place! The atmosphere is chill, laid back, hometown vibe. Snacks are decently priced for a theater and the sound quality is great. I watched Aquaman there and highly recommend this place and that movie!!!! Ive been there a few times and have never left unsatisfied.

You have to see this beautiful historic theater and lounge... Yes... Thats rite... They serve your childrens goodies while ordering a cold draft or Jim straight up... Now thats what I call very convenient and satisfying... Check it out ..

Very historic theatre. It is nice and I never been to a theatre that served beer. That was different but good. It was clean for a movie theatre. I would recommend it to other people. Cant wait to go back.

This is an old theater with a small screen, so if you are looking for a state of the art experience this is not for you. The theater does show first run movies for $5, has affordable snack prices and a bar, it is one of my favorite places to see a movie.

Dont bother seeing anything here. I went to see Venom and the video cut out 5 times within the first hour before I left. The receptionist was incredibly rude and refused to give refunds. Dont waste your money and just see a movie somewhere else.

You must get there early for seating. It gets pitch black dark and its hard to find seating, when the lights go out without disturbing others. You will have to use your phone flash light to see. But the popcorn prices are cheaper than other theaters.

From the location to the wonderful environment, you just cant create this kind of aura today.

I dont know where to start, literally. Its $5! And they just put in new comfy seats. And they serve alcohol! And the popcorn is delicious and reasonably priced. GREAT staff. Awesome old bathrooms that are wall to wall marble. The only negative thing I could possibly say is I dont care for their nacho cheese sauce, but the portion of both chips and sauce was quite large.

Went to see Black Panther here! Well...I view most all movies here. Highland Square Theater is part of the Hub of the Highland Square area. Most economical, intimate and historically nostalgic theater to visit. And you can also purchase alcoholic beverages, Adults only though!

Freaking awesome! I think the huge China White neon sign behind the bar was a little weird, but omg I love this theater. Its super old school, there are seats down in front of the big screen, but if you want you can literally sit at the bar or in tables by the bar. Its got a super retro feel to it, and I heard there are shows here too. Not to mention Star Wars opening weekend cost only five bucks!! Will most definitely be back sometime.

Always love going to Highland Square Theater but wish they had real food to order like maybe hot dogs, fries and hot pretzels.

Cheap snacks and drinks are a huge selling point, but combine it with their constant five dollar ticket prices and you have a formula for repeat customers. Depending on how big of a movie and when you go (superhero movie opening night, for example) parking may be tricky, but this local historical fave of a big old movie house is worth it. And though the venue is old their presentation is not. Very good projection and sound quality wherever you want to sit, including booths and high top tables near the back in close proximity to their bar (which serves lots of mixed drinks or beer, also for reasonable prices). If you haven’t gone here before you need to check it out sometime... Especially if you’re from the area.

My favorite theatre in all of Akron. This place is super unique and has an incredible history. The tickets are super cheap, and they have great shows. You can order your food and drinks right in the theatre, so you dont miss a moment of the film. They serve alcohol, which is definitely not the norm at your big-box theatres. This place is a jewel of Highland Square, and I hope to see it stick around for years to come.

Classic old fashion theater, no fancy stadium seats, but that honestly is part of the allure. Inexpensive concession stand, with a very cool bar at the back of the theater. There’s some cool high tops and booths at the top of the seating area. The restrooms need some serious attention, but otherwise, I don’t think you would need to address much. 30 years ago I remember coming here to see the Rocky horror picture show. Fond Memories indeed. Definitely a point of pride when it comes to my thoughts of the highlights of Akron.

Best place to go see movies, they play whatever movie is most popular at the time for $5 a ticket, usually twice a day. Big, single theatre with bar and affordable snacks/popcorn. The audio is good even from the back. Staff are very nice and the place is clean! Because of the bar I dont usually see a lot of kids here, which is a plus for me.

Five dollars to see a first-run movie in a spacious theatre. Concessions are still pricy but not as much as other theatres.

Really enjoy this theater. The decor inside and out still dates back 70+ years. Tickets and concessions are much cheaper than other theaters. There is a full bar if so inclined. Id rather frequent here than other modern theaters to contribute to a local Akron landmark.

I love this theater. The building itself is cool: its an old historic building. Its also in a cool area of town, so its easy to get some food or a drink before or after the movie. On top of that, regardless of time of day, tickets are only $5 for new movies and. Its clean, the staff is friendly, and they have a full bar. I come here quite often and have always enjoyed myself.

Seeing Endgame opening weekend in this theatre was one probably one of the best movie experiences I will ever have!

Location is great! Price of admission is superb! Food and beverages are inexpensive. Seats are standard. BATHROOMS NEED MORE ATTENTION!!!! Employees are very friendly and customer service is ASTONISHING!!! Will recommend.

I love this place! Im not going to give it 5 stars. Lets face it, it needs some TLC. But its convenient, inexpensive, and has a bar. I like that its comfortable and that even the concessions are affordable. If there was a donation jar for renovations, I would put money in.

Love this theater! First off, the admission is only $5 and then their concession stand (which has alcohol in the theater) is also reasonably priced, unlike most movie theaters. I love the old-timey feel it has. Also they play new movies as well as old ones. This is my favorite place to see movies!

Enjoyed my expirience here, though one staff member was quite rude. I noticed an older gentleman that worked there going around and grabbing peoples cellphones out of their hands if they were on their phone during the movie. I understand enforcing the rules, but he should have a politely asked the guests to put their phones away. He thought I was on my phone, when I really was not and yelled at me to put ot away or I would be thrown out. Absolutely disrespectful of him.
