This place was simply SPECTACULAR! Its a working sculpture/artist studio, and EVERYTHING in the place has a little history and a lot off WOW! Give yourself about an hour, and its handicap accessible (but check with them on this). Go enjoy this gem!
Got to meet the artist personally, wonder person, wonderful attitude. Very neat place to visit as a side trip. Watch for the house cat, very friendly, and likes to follow the guest, while giving his opinion. Do recommend.
Im from Columbus, and had some time to kill before heading to the wilds. My wife and I saw the sculptures outside and had to go in and see more. It was incredible. The upstairs was huge, so many wonderful peices. Minimum donation is 2$. I put in 30$. Please support artists during this difficult time. Im so glad we stopped here. The cat was very excited to have visitors. Awesome place, I hope to come back again.
We were driving by and just stopped to see the sidewalk art. Unfortunately it was a Sunday evening so the art studio was closed. I peered in the windows only to be greeted by the guard cat, with all the large windows I was able to see most of the wonderful artwork.I will definitely be going back when the studio is open .
Popped in for a quick visit as my dad saw the statues outside and was curious. We just thought wed look around but one employee paused her work to give us a tour! Super friendly and gave a fascinating step by step tour as she showed us their current work in progress pieces. (Also fun to meet the shop cat roaming around!)
Beautiful museum the art And sculptures were very tasteful and full of history the art displayed was drawn by kids in school very was worth the trip
Outside the Alan Cottrill Studio there are a number of eye catching bronze statues, including a sheep on ice skates, placed in a row along the sidewalk. Inside the sculpture gallery there are numerous smaller bronzes that provide a nice museum like experience. The sculpture mounted on the corner of the studio building roof is Delaware Indian Chief Nemacolin (1715-1767).
Beautifully eerie experience. this place evokes emotion... his raw depiction of each sculpture is breathtaking
Very nice sculpture displays. They claim to be the largest sculpture exhibit by a living artist in the world. Very interesting tour of the back work area. An artist explained and showed to us the different stages in the process of creating a bronze sculpture. Admission cost was a recommended donation of $2 per person.
If you want to see cool statues this is the place! There isnt really any one that takes you through the building or tells you about the art thats the only reason I wouldnt give this 5 stars but its still a cheap nice place to visit
So cool.
Sculptures outside are fantastic. What you can see looking in through the windows looks interesting. However, we drove an hour to visit, only to find that it was closed, despite the fact that it should have been open based on the hours advertised online.
Very nice! Alan is very kind and took the time to share his work.
Just a very unique place, full of original Alan Cottrell statues and busts in an old newspaper building. Many statues are outside on the sidewalk. Very friendly staff will answer questions. Work shop on ground floor. Displays on second floor. Small donation requested.
Very interesting sculptures will definitely be going again
Very cool place to buy or visit. There is talent written all over this art studio
This is the best place to see and learn about history in the making thru sculptures
Call ahead. The place was advertised that it should be open but wasnt. But looking in the windows it was wonderful .
A must see! Saw fabulous sculptures inside the studio & out, met the artist, watched him work for a while & had a good conversation about his work. The studio is a big, open warehouse-type building where you not only see the progress of a piece but wander through the second story where finished pieces are displayed. Dont miss the room with the Indians and the military items on both floors. Ask him or his staff questions about the sculptures, there are wonderful stories. Also, see some of Mr. Cottrills work around the court house a few blocks away.
Dope statues. Didnt get to go inside tho. The street was cool
The shop cat was the best tour guide!
Awesome just amazing
Beautiful sculptures and an interesting studio to browse.!
Lots of very neat pieces of art displayed there. Is a have to go to at least once experience.
Alan was great to talk too. Had a wonderful time. Will go back
Loved this place and got to meet the artist
Very artistic and a wonderful place to visit
What a fabulous collection of sculptures, and the artist is very happy to answer your questions and explain the casting process in detail.
Loved it. Very interesting for me who is not the art type. Lot of history.
A must see master craftsman. Donations of $2 at the door is well worth it.
Great experience to visit Cottrill Studio.
A bronze sculptor with an interesting collection of bronze sculptures. Also they also teach about the 26 step process to create a sculptures.
Granted I am biased. The sculptor is my father in law, but you will be shocked at how extensive the collection is, and at some of the famous works he has created.
A lot a was closed 4 the weekend being late Saturday there but we all saw a ton the lil bit we walked around.....
Great experience
Awesome sculpture, awesome man. Great experience.
This artists studio is very much worth a visit if youre in the Zanesville area. We enjoyed looking at all of Alan Cottrills sculptures and maquettes and most of all enjoyed talking with him.
