Best place to get anything fresh or salt water.They sell everything you need fish, plants,tanks, stand, gravel, filters (sponge HOB and canister).I have personally bought multiple fish from the store and would recommend to anyone interested in fish or have been in the hobby before.Wren (I believe is their name) always gives me great suggestions when I come in.

My family has been going to this local pet fish store for years. We just recently started going again and they are still as amazing as I remember. I just recently got 5 fish (2 different trips) and plan on going back for more soon.

Theres a great variety of fish available and staff is great! They all have masks on and wear them properly, and are very helpful. Staff all seems to be very experienced in keeping fish of all kinds.

We used The Fish Doctor to set up our 5gal shrimp tank. Zack was extremely helpful in recommending plants and rigging that would best ensure a successful, low maintenance tank. I would highly recommend going here for your fish tank needs!

Very consistent fish store. Always great and dependable selection. Great prices if you get a bunch of fish at once. Best prices Ive seen on rarer Barbs like black Ruby and Odessa. Their plant selection is great for beginners and their workers are knowledgeable about what would work for you.

Absolutely love this place. I started going here in 2002 and they taught me how to start and maintain saltwater aquariums. I moved away and stopped in the other day, 17 years later, and it was exactly the same. Great variety of tropical fish, and very reasonable prices.

2020 UPDATE: They are going above and beyond to keep their employees and staff safe. They have set up an outdoor waiting section as there is a max customer amount and they have drinks and snacks for those waiting. They offered curbside during the shutdown and one of the staff texted pictures of their fish so we could still have a choice in what we bought. This is one of our favorite fish stores in the area - would definitely recommend!Great selection if fresh and salt water fish here. They have live brine shrimp, black worms and ghost shrimp as well as a huve freezer of frozen foods. Tons of drift wood of all sizes and a big selection of decorations for your tank. Oh and RO water!

Staff has some hype energy and very knowledgable about the hobby. They will take the time to interview you about your tank set up to make sure the sale is appropriate. Amazing pricing on coral fragments, specifically this location compared to Canton. A diverse collection of saltwater fish for you to choose from which always seem to be well stocked.

Just left here and I can’t say enough about how awesome our experience was. Everyone was very nice and attentive. Lorenzo ended up helping us and he was the kindest and most knowledgeable person to ever help us with our salt water tank. My husband, my daughter and I agree that Lorenzo gave us a high level of service that we haven’t received in recent memory. So often you can feel foolish in the salt water hobby, lots of know it alls. If you want honest advice and direction that anyone can understand, I recommend Lorenzo and Fish Doctors Ypsilanti.

Reasonable prices on every aquatic equipment need and free expert advice which steers you to the least expensive, most useful solutions, even if you only have one betta. High quality live, dry, and frozen foods. If I cant find a certain brand or item, I know its because its poor quality or overpriced. Overall dedication to helping us keep the happiest, healthiest aquarium residents. And the best music ever in a non-music related store.

Busy place on Saturdays! But even then a couple staff people going me to make sure I had what I needed, answered questions, looked at my fish pictures, and gave advice when requested. Tested my water for free and advised me on how to correct anomalies. Great shop!

Absolutely the best place to get youre fresh or saltwater fish and supplies! I live in the upper peninsula of Michigan and plan on traveling down to get my fish from here. They make sure that the fish have enough oxygen to survive the trip!

One of the last remaining aquarium shops in southern Michigan. Old school cool. Have all the classics and will buy back fish to deserving homes.

I cant write a review good enough about this business, or the staff. The fish they have here are always healthy, the prices are always fair, always a great selection of fish, they will also special order fish. There are other fish stores that are bigger and closer to me, but none of them have the staff that ypsilanti fish doctors has, and thats what sets them above the rest.

Very nice assortment of fish

I went in to stock my 32 gallon reef tank when I was looking around at the corals the tanks were pretty dirty but that wasn’t the worst part the worst part was that I bought 2 damsels a domino and 3 stripe they appeared fine they went through my quarantine looked fine but as soon as I introduced them all my fish became infected with ich and now when I am writing this review I have lost $300 worth of fish including my flame angel my one clown and a collection of damsels but I do still prefer to go to the fish doctor in canton never going back to the Ypsilanti location again

Ive gone here a number of times over the years to find fish and they always have a great selection. The staff is very knowledgeable. And if they dont have what youre looking for, theyll give you a call the next time they get it in.

Went with some friends to look for some new fish. Really friendly staff who are all super knowledgeable and ready to help with any questions. They have a lot of neat species who all looked very healthy and happy. Place is a little small and when we went it was pretty packed which was great to see, but can be a bit difficult to walk around with all the tanks.

About 2 days ago we came in and had a pleasant experience with very informative staff. weve been there a few times before to buy food and filters. the last time we went, we decided to get two fish. Today we had two fish die, both we have had for almost a year. neither of them had any issues before we brought the new ones home. and our friends fish now have ick from the fish he bought from there. we followed instructions on NOT putting the stores tank water into our tank. will NOT be coming back for fish or any other supplies. very devistated in loosing our fish.

As always, the kids wanted to see every tank, and had a million questions. Their price on feeder fish is unbeatable, has me driving from Manchester to Ypsi every other week at least. The staff is awesome, with solid recommendations and sound advice every step of the way. Best place for feeders, great coral and tropical fish selection, awesome fresh water supply, and great staff.

I took my daughter here to gather supplies for a biology project. The staff were very helpful and knowledgeable and guided her to the best fit for what the project called for. We were concerned about making sure everything would stay alive, in a sealed environment, and Marissa was amazing with all her knowledge and advice! She made sure we had everything to maintain the best environment for the duration of the project and beyond! Always a friendly staff willing to help with whatever questions you may need. Their freshwater fish selection has greatly grown over the last couple years. They carry live food which is always a fun treat for fish tanks. They sell their freshwater fish much younger than most chains and Ive always thought it was fun to watch a fish get big. Whether you already have an established coral reef or are thinking about setting up a simple freshwater tank this really is a great store to check out.

When I first walked in the store, I was pleased to see a wide variety of supplies, including aquascaping rock and wood which is surprisingly hard to find. They also have a wide variety of fish, many of which in aquascaped tanks. All the tanks were clean, and I didnt see a single dead fish in the entire store. For being such a nice store that put a lot of work into the state of their aquariums, their prices were decent too. I bought a koi betta for $5 cheaper than it would have been at PetSmart. I was also thrilled to see they dont have the betta death cups! They have all the betta in a filtered and heated set up with a sump, totaling to (what I was told) 20 gallons. I was also pleased to see they sell live plants at a reasonable price, and the staff was knowledgeable, and attentive. When I asked if they had a specific plant in stock, the employee immediately knew what it was, rather than checking tags and kinda guessing what it was.Ive been to a lot of fish stores and pet stores all over the state and this by far is the best. Next time Im out that way, Ill be definitely stopping in. Its definitely a fish store worth supporting!

This place is amazing! I visit 6 different fish stores in the Detroit area depending on what I am looking for. I can say this place is great. Tanks are clean and the fish are well taken care of. Staff are great and knowledgeable. I overheard a staff member explaining the nitrate cycle to a customer and I was impressed with their knowledge. Also, great store for the expert aquarist and the beginner. I will always swing in on my travels. Thank you.

I had my goldfish I got from the fair for 10 years, and many times I had to come in and use their expertise to troubleshoot. The whole staff is incredibly knowledgeable and helpful, and Luke always goes above and beyond anytime I ask for help. Aiptasia absolutely everywhere. If you arent controlling the aiptasia, what other pests are present? On top of the rampant aiptasia problem, several fish looked sick, and at least two definately had ich. This seems to be a turn em and burn em store as far as livestock goes, and i can only wonder what percentage of what they get from suppliers dies inside a week in their disgusting tanks.I suggest everyone buy corals especially from a more reputable supplier. And you can get much better prices on non livestock items online. Like half off on many things i priced out.In summation, a turn and burn store that will contaminate your tank and charges way too much.
