By far THE BEST haunted house I’ve been to. I’ve been to lots of haunted houses in Michigan and this was my absolute favorite. I don’t get scared easily but this one I did! I even went to Erebus and Jackson’s and this one easily beat them. They did a very good job not pushing you though the line like they did at Erebus and made sure you were going only with your group through all stories. The actors and makeup were really good and you can tell they put a ton of effort and money into their house. The stories and effect are amazing. Highly recommend!
Great Place, and a great time. They had staff on hand to ensure proper start times, while ensuring the rules for COVID are met. The scare factor was great, while also the scenic rooms were all the best. Be prepared for the first few rooms to really get your heart pounding! Thanks again for a great experience!
The actors, costumes, sets and scenery were fantastic. I brought my teenagers and their friends and we all loved it, everyone screamed a few times. The only bad part was waiting in line. We had tickets for 6:30, so we got in line at 6:15 outside, but the line inside was even longer and we had to wait until 6:55 for our turn to go through. Id still recommend it, it was worth the wait.
Thank you for a fantastic haunt experience last night!!! Lots of misdirection and LOTS OF SCREAMS!!!Tell Mr. Tinkles thanks for the special attention. The “dog man” coming after my ankles was a great touch. All of the monsters that materialized out of nowhere!!! Another great touch!!!We will look forward to doing this again next year!
A huge thank you goes out to the staff at the Haunt for keeping Halloween alive throughout these uncertain times. Not only are their COVID-19 precautions well thought out and thorough enough to make us feel safe enough to go, but the spooky vibes and haunted attractions were amazing and even better than last year. 10/10 would recommend!
I drive here every year almost 3 hrs from Detroit, and have been since the old owner and walker location. Our main known local haunted house in the Detroit area is erebus, they claim to be the best in MI and I will tell you that The Haunt has always topped it. The creativity in The Haunt is really unmatched and it brings a vibe that no other haunted house can bring. Ill go through other haunted houses usually and just laugh, the haunt actually made me jump multiple times the 3 trio of Zombies that jumps from the window is one of my fav scenes. The outdoor scene with the animals, and the hospital scene is amazing too. I will always make the drive for The Haunt. Keep it up, you guys never fail to impress me. Im already looking forward to next year!!!
Very poorly executed this year. Website specifically says you must reserve your time and wait in your car until they notify you. Not true!!! You MUST get in line and wait for HOURS. I was there for almost 3 hours tonight after reserving my time online days prior. And the haunted house part was just ok. The actors all seemed tired and over it themselves. The least they could do, is to update their website with proper instruction so people arent waiting in their cars for a text they will never receive. Not worth the time or money I wasted. Big rip off.
The Haunt has been an annual thing for me i would say about 15 yrs. Last yr I didnt go,but I have gone already this year. I feel it is wayyy bigger and just so much more things. I enjoyed it and will be back again this year! Great job!
Lights out is the scariest experience, all you get is a glow stick and you guessed it... Its near pitch black. It feels as if your in a horror film and and running for your life of what might be lurking round the corner.
They truly take pride in their work. All up in your face, just to scare the tar out of you. (Didnt touch at all though). Will return in 2021
The Haunt is fantastic! Its very organized & well set up for the covid rules. We loved it. A lot of good scares by their actors and really cool effects & decorating. Worth every penny! Thank you Wyoming, MI!!!!
I was worried that the haunted attractions this year wouldn’t open due to COVID, so I was super happy to see the Haunt open in a timely manner and it was amazing. They put in so much effort especially with the COVID precautions. There was so many special touches all throughout that gave it a great experience, even the story was well thought out. The actors did a great job as well playing their parts. Loved how each had a mask that went with their outfit. Highly recommended!
This year was supposed to be line free. Over an hour waiting IN LINE and still no haunted house. This year must just be the never ending wait. Finally got through the line after an hour and a half, the haunted house part was good as usual, but definitely not worth the ridiculous wait.
Perfect thrill for Halloween, safe and sanitary conditions with precautions taken. Wonderful staff and a affordable rate with amazing sites to see and spooky adventures awaiting anyone.
This place has a lot of potential, as its pretty long and they have some nice scenes, HOWEVER it just isnt scary....like not even a little. The acting was pretty awful, and there was ZERO fear factor. The worst thing was that we ran into groups in front of us and behind us creating one massive group for about half of the time. Such a disappointment!
Very very very scary!! I was so scared I had to end early my friends kept going though. It was so fun though. Great makeup! Very scary.
IT WAS AMAZING! The detail to every scene is out of this world! Don’t hesitate, just go! You won’t regret it!
First, the one star reviews Im seeing seem suspect. I dont see how anyone could view this as a one star haunted house experience. Im not sure if these are trolls, owners of other haunted houses, or just curmudgeons. One star, in my opinion, is absolute silliness. Dont let that deter you.Ive been to The Haunt before, and this seems like a massive step up in quality. The environments were ridiculously detailed. Ive been through several haunted houses and dozens of escape rooms, and I can say that the detail and immersion here are just about as good as it gets. The environments are movie quality through much of it. It was all, clearly, crafted with love. The volume and quality of the work for the ticket price is ridiculously good.I, personally, found the first two areas to be utterly horrifying. The scares werent cheap, they were well thought out. I would agree with other reviews that the later areas were a bit less scary. With that being said, however, the later areas (while a little less scary) were just as (and in some cases more) epic than than the scary start areas. I dont want to spoil anything, but sheesh... Theres something in the fourth area that was awesome. I didnt want to leave the room because I was staring in awe. Finally, I have to give mad respect to the owner for expanding and innovating on what a haunted house is about. There are some Eldritch and Fantasy vibes in certain areas. Personally, I like to see a step in this direction, and I would love to see them take it even further in upcoming years. This feels different than the abundantly available and often uninspired generic horror themed attractions. Going through The Haunt this year felt like an adventure, not just a series of jump scares set in generic gross scenes. If youre looking for fun, excitement, adventure, and high production quality... Id say dont miss out on this.
First time going and I completely lost my voice. Had an awesome time with my man. Would definitely recommend going.
Well first off, I dont know who they are trying to fool with ticket times. We arrived 10 minutes early just to wait in line for 2 HOURS! (This is with a ticket in-hand that specifically states 7PM.) After a long wait going through 4 different waiting areas we were given a storyline by 1 of the 4 good actors they had on staff. However the storyline with Nurse Needles didnt carry over or relate to the experiences beyond the first 10 rooms. The staff in the haunted areas seemed untrained and unmotivated. Whoever manages the haunt was well aware of the only 4 good actors because they were specifically placed, one, to entertain the waiting line, one, to explain the storyline, one, where you actually can go into the first haunted room and one, before you go into the illusion tube. All the other actors just jump out or stand and look creepy or maybe just make loud noises unexpectedly. Also, our group quickly learned the only person that may get scared is the first person in your group, almost 100% of their jump scares were given to the first people so if your in the middle or the back of the group you basically get to observe the front of the line because everythings already been set off or already jumped out. Overall, I dont know whats happened to the haunt. 15 years ago you could tell someone was putting thought and effort into a rounded experience at the Haunt. Now its just a lot of decor. SIDENOTE: I dont know why there was a dragon.... but the dragon was AWESOME!!
Not scary by any means, not entertaining or fun either. We go to enough haunts to know a cash grab when we see it. No passion on display here, just a rushed experience that, despite some nice scenery, felt more like a cheesy attraction youd find in a touristy place like Niagra Falls. I guess this is what we get for spending money at a haunted house where the owners can even come up with an original name...though we must admit, The Haunt is quite fitting for this generic and totally meh place!
We had a fantastic time the set was brand new it was like I was our first time thank you
Brought the family and we all left underwhelmed. Just not worth the price or ridiculously long wait times. My kids asked me why wasnt it scary. LOL
Giving this a 3 star because the staff was amazing & super friendly & helpful, but the price of $30 a person seemed abit steep compared to the past of $20 a person, and given we had reservations set at 8pm and had to wait an hour in line. While we were in line there was no staff to make sure of the 6ft distancing rule. Although the floor was clearly marked with spots to show where to stand, people behind us were not obeying the rules. One couple a few ahead of us, had almost got into an altercation due to the fact of crowding out. Then it happened to me and my family. We were standing on our spot as marked and the rude young couple behind us kept inching up on us, & the young man kept taking his mask down. This made me very nervous given the fact we were already in close quarters and he clearly didnt care for others around him. My oldest son tried to keep him back in his own circle by moving forward ahead slowly as to clearly point out to this rude nieve individual that 6ft shouldnt be breached upon. So he got mad and told my son move forward more. My son stated you are to close to us, you need to move back into your designated area or circle on the floor. He was rude and stood right next to my son literally breathing down his neck. As everyone was watching this person do this and attack my son verbally, as well as taunting him i told the young man to back up to his area which he did not and said he wasnt gonna do what we asked. Not a security guard in sight in the hall way. So instead of arguing I went farther ahead through the line and found a actor where the tour was to begin. He quickly grabbed a security young man to assist me. I told him about the rude guy behind us as we walked bk to our spot. The young helpful man whos name i wish Id got, started to talk to this rude individual. He was very helpful to us and held back the couple causing the problem. So we continued ahead. I want to thank him for being helpful and assertive. I just wish that they now have someone standing inside that hall way to help with this for the future customers. So they can assess a situation like ours before it gets out of hand again. I was worried though out the rest of my tour this young vulgar punk kid would catch up to us, which thank God he didnt. I didnt want him to aggravate us again. Other than that the tour would of been peaceful. But I paid $93 for a night that should of been fun and quiet not disruptive and a verbal attack on us when we were obeying the rules as this person was not. Hopefully you guys at The Haunt take this into consideration for future endeavors. Ty and thanks again to the young man that helped us. The tour itself though was amazing. Lots of jumps and unexpected scares.
We love The Haunt and go every year! Usually I would rate 5/5 stars. I was excited about their COVID precautions and appreciate them. That being said, there was one waiting area where they could not maintain social distancing. They weren’t spacing out groups enough and as someone who takes COVID seriously, it made me very nervous. Additionally, the scare actors could still come RIGHT up to you. Like, I get it’s part of the experience, but I don’t know if someone being within an inch of you is smart during COVID—mask or not. That being said, the Houses themselves were great as always, and I appreciated the temperature checks and that they made an attempt to space out the groups. Due to COVID - 3.5 stars, House and theme - 4.5 stars.
Knowing what haunted events can and can’t do and having gone to many, I wasn’t expecting too much for $30. But, this was the best I’ve ever been to largely due to the vast amount of detailed props at every turn and the time to enjoy the scare which took about 40-50 min. It was NOT a quick trip thru and your done house or corn maze with barely anything but corn and corny questions. Those mazes are deadly boring! What happens: we arrived and had maybe 2 minute wait outside. Then inside Covid screening and metal detector into 3 twisting dark, nicely detailed with prop waiting areas. I was feeling disappointed if THIS was IT but it was only to space groups out to actually enter the themed areas. Scary and intended to be intimidating ghoulish staff kept people masked up and apart. They kept our group of 8 all by ourselves to not spoil the scare. When you think you’re done after a nice but brief themed area we again joined other groups spaced apart waiting to enter another themed area. There were several themed areas that by themselves would be one entire haunted house like the ones at Mackinac Island or Mackinaw City and then you’re done now go away or pay to go thru again. The Haunts’ many themed areas made our $200+ worth it. Our group was 10-13 year-olds and perfect for that age. I would have loved it ramped up with more scary chainsaws, flashing lights, darker rooms, mirrors, loud Thunder Struck, Enter Sandman type music and a huge castle looking entrance with REAL flaming torches... ... but I didn’t want to terrorize my younger group. Maybe they could segregate later hours for terrorizing scares for older kids and adults. But for the age of my group I give it 5 stars.
Honestly it wasnt scary at all lol. It was set up really well thoughill say that.
Great haunt attraction well worth the price and if u scare easy or have heart issues/high blood pressure might want 2 think first lbs
Love that even though it’s been a tough year y’all brought joy to 2020
It was awesomely scary there was new themes so it was just close your eyes thru some of the things coming at you for me tbh lol its way better than other years thank you Haunt staff for a really good scare
5 stars all the way......Good job
Very unprofessional lie about what time they open dont orde A ticket online all they will do is scam you
It was cool as hell especially with things popping out at you in front and back I definitely would go again.
Very cool set up and had fun.
The scariest thing here is having your visit rescheduled without being notified and not being able to get a refund.
Very well put together and very scary.
Wait time was absolutely ridiculous. We made “reservations” for 8pm and I’m still in line at almost 9pm. 60$ expected more.
This is the standard for what HAUNTED HOUSES are measured in The USA. This place ROCKS and is blowing up with popularity in the state. It is from start to finish a perfect 10, THIS IS THE KING OF KINGS in the business. Its really fun while waiting meeting new friend also in line, and socializing and taking photos. Its a hidden fun social aspect of The Haunt. The food is also outstanding!!!
It is so much fun if youre in for a scare!
I love the haunt and the new circus theme but something I’ve ALWAYS wanted to see from them is a throwback-y theme that feels like an old school haunted house. Black cats, witches, vampire, mummy, Frankenstein’s monster, skeletons, pumpkins and ghosts. Vintage Halloween is really trendy. If another new section were to be added again at some point or even if some things were changed up, something that plays homage to classic Halloween would be cool. Some would be easy to add this element without a brand new theme as well. Vampire added to the manor. Classic witches added to the swamp. Etc. Idk I’d just really love for the haunt to have something that feels more like Halloween.Even the idea of adding a Coven witch theme could give the opportunity to do some classic Halloween stuff, glowing pumpkins, moving skeletons, black cats of course.Twisted fairy tales could be another successful idea that could appeal to a different demographic than the rest of the haunt does. It would attract a lot more young women for sure. The haunt also lacks much decoration outside even when deep into the season. Painting the outside wall in glow in the dark paint designs? Signage on the road to make it easier for people to find the place would also be a good idea.
We had a great time last year when we went to the Haunt. And this year we were very surprised that it was even better. Very entertaining, the actors costumes and makeup were top notch. The special effects seemed to be of movie quality, top notch. Thank you for a great time! We will be back!
I visited The Haunt tonight not knowing what I was getting myself into. I had only heard of the attraction through word of mouth. It being the only haunted attraction near me, I needed to check it out.I was blown away. There are 5 attractions in this haunt, which is impressive. I havent seen another haunted house with more than 3. Each one is very unique in set, costume, acting, etc. The intensity grows with each attraction as well, leaving you wonder when it is going to end. Its like your favorite movie that you never want to end. This year featured an addition that resembles a haunted circus, and it was absolutely my favorite part. The way the actors use the set to their advantage is very immersive, and I couldnt get enough of it.Just check this place out. As an experienced haunted house enthusiast, I highly recommend treating yourself to The Haunt.
Was visiting a friend in Michigan (Im from Australia) so this was my first haunted house experience and it was worth every single penny. I get scared easily so I was absolutely horrified the whole time (I think the actors picked on me because of this which was funny). All of the different themes are SO well done, with the actors, animations and props. I would 100% pay to do this again. Thanks for an amazing (and truly scary) experience.
Amazing display! I couldnt believe all the effort put into making this place what it is. It took us an hour to walk through! Each area was meticulously decorated and scary as hell.
It was ok but should have last way longer
The Haunt was a very fun experience! Even while waiting in line they keep you entertained. From a live DJ pumping out popular dance music to the creepy clowns interacting with the crowd. The sets are some of the best Ive seen!
Well worth the money ! Going with a large group is fun. Very impressed with All of the detail the haunt put into each and every section!! Didn’t mind waiting, I was kept entertained. Super happy with all the staff I talked too, even the ones who spooked me!By far my favorite room was the circus. Loved the set up.
There is no reason for you to be open during a pandemic.
Working for The Haunt is an amazing opportunity! You get to work with an accepting and fun community, and they treat you as though you’re part of something great. It’s unbelievable how far this haunted attraction has come over the years and I can’t wait to continue to see it grow and thrive!
My Fiancee and I had a great time at The Haunt tonight! Everything from the actors to the special effects was amazing, definitely had me screaming through the whole thing. I can now see why this attraction is one of the best in the nation and the state of Michigan. Keep up the amazing work! #fearthehaunt
Line takes too long and im gonna pee.
NOT scary, rushed through, ran into other groups, overpriced
I work as a ticket scanner at the haunt, its Ann awesome place to work and the atmosphere is electric everynight. Before we open, the people are really cool we are just a big family. Doug the owner is a great person to be around and its all around a great establishment to go to for fun and to work at. Im happy i made the decision to work there
It was ok, but had the potential to be so much better. They didn’t space the groups out far enough from each other and made us go in with another group. The group in front of us went really slow and the group behind us went fast, so it ended up being a giant line of 15-20 people. Really boring and frustrating watching everyone in the front get all the good scares. It really ruined the atmosphere and mood of what a haunted house should have. Also if it was darker, it could’ve been scarier. For $25/person I expected better. The decorations were great and detailed. The actors did a good job. Well organized.
Spooky but fun with protocols
We are so excited to have so many amazing customers that visit our Haunted attraction every year. Thank you so much. We are also blessed with a great staff of actors and managers that keep the Haunt known as one of the top attractions in the country.
I have been working for the haunt for over ten years. New owner new scares but still the same heart and spirit everyone knows and loves about the haunt. Its been my pleasure scaring west Michigan all these years and I am happy to once again have the opportunity at our new location where we have more room to play, cant wait to see more to come in the future!
It was pretty expensive, the scares weren’t really frightening, long line but that was expected so be prepared to wait. Fun time overall but definitely overpriced
One of my favorite places to go this time of year. The actors and the place itself Under New Management is amazing. . My friend and I drove 4 hours to get here well worth the drive.
The Haunt is a blast for a good scary time! My reaction to getting spooked is to burst out laughing, and I was laughing almost constantly. Wait times were not an issue for me because the actors running them know how to work a crowd and arent afraid to insult you to your face, which is something I love. The design elements were all excellently constructed, with costumes clearly designed by somebody who understands limited lighting, and the set was well made, creepy and allowed me to suspend my disbelief while I was inside. Only thing that could be a negative was the crazy strobe lights they use in a couple of rooms that could trigger epilepsy and made it a little hard for me to find a specific exit one time, but they warn you about that before you go in and it didnt hinder my experience personally. Well worth the price of admission!
Awesome year. You have to appreciate the detail in all of it, good actors and effects, I heard three girls coming out that said they literally peed their pants in there. Spacing was great too.
Got tickets buy one get one free online so they were not outrageously priced. However, over half of the attractions inside were the exact same as last year. Still fun. Just a little sad there wasnt anything new.
Incredible!!!!! Entertaining from start to finish. Make this a see every fall season in Grand Rapids. The haunted house itself is very detailed and well put together. Loads of talented actors and its indoors for the those cold or rainy nights. Go check it out.
Was way more impressive than anticipated. Was expecting the same experience as last year. New owner seems to understand that customers dont want the same haunted house every year. Actors were amazing and professional, they queud groups up well to cut down on line time. I might just skip forest of fear this year knowing that it is going to be the same event that I have grown to love.
Best Haunted House ever! Paid for Fast Pass, did not disappoint! First time coming and planning on making this a yearly event. Thanks to all the staff for the time and effort put into this.
Props and actors were good. Staging and timing of the sections could have been much better. There should have been some intro to each section to help set the mood.
Despite the rain, it was a lot of fun. Displays and theatrics were extremely well done. Not scary like I hoped but still a good time.
The haunt. More like the how did I not go to this sooner? So much fun. The talent in the little waiting rooms was great. I was surprised at the enjoyable characters that so many of the cast displayed. Wow! Well worth the time to go to 28th st.
Great time for an adrenaline rush
This was my first year working at the haunt and I can say it has been the best season/job I have ever what doug has done to the haunt is ridiculously awesome the attention to detail in each of the attractions is amazing and the staff is over the top. Overall the haunt is a amazing place to work or just visit in general.
This is an amazing haunted house, they really go the extra mile to make things as scary as possible while maintaining the no touch rule. That being said yes I was touched once or twice and quite on accident once being my fault as i walked straight into the fellow when i came around a corner. But still he apologized (breaking character to do so) and it was all good. I would definitely come back to this place again. Next time, perhaps Ill take photos too lol.
We drove out from Detroit to check out this haunt . I have to say I was rather disappointed. I think it had the potential of being good, but tonight they were just herding people through like a bunch of cattle. (Idk if that is the norm, or if it was because they were busy) We went as a group at two we got forced to go with another group of five ended up with three more that ran up from some other group in the 1st part of the haunt, and then at one point we had over 12 in the group...so we didn’t get much of the scare effect whatsoever because the actors waited until the the middle of the group was almost through the room Before doing their thing, since we were at the front we got nothing...They were packing people so close together that at some points the actors just stood there doing nothing(the mental hospital area ).it kind of reminded me of how Erebus has gotten over the years where it seems like it’s more about how many people you can cram through instead of the quality of the scare experience. I can honestly say I have gotten better scares in a trailer haunt. :(
A truly professional setup. Moved crowds well and the art direction was incredibly detailed. Great scares and GREAT FUN!
New location is awesome! Definitely recommend with a group of friends. All inside now so dont wear too many layers, we were all overheated!
Showed up for the kids day event. Waiting 2 hours in the rain seemed excessive, so we left. After 20 minutes we had not moved and that was 1/4 mile from the ticket window. Then, there was the line to get in. Maybe if there had been presales it would have been better. Not everyone in line could have got in before 5. Needs better planning.
Honestly best place ever I would go every day if I could. Hands down best haunted house. You could add two more attractions to make it scarier
Was surprised how legit scary this was!! And big! Takes about 45 minutes to go through with 4 different stories/sets. The decor is amazing, I wish I could look at it more while not running away from creatures!! There are so many actors with incredible costumes and make-up. They get surprisingly close to the guests, I did a lot of ducking and crawling away from ghouls!! And a lot of swearing and screaming!
It was okay. Ill give it a thumbs up for all the props. Both my teen daughter and I did not get scared but the other 4 girls we were paired who walked behind us, apparently did since they seemed to scream a lot.
It was a lot of fun, just wished we were not paired with people who took all the fun out of it by telling us what was around the corner..... it ruined it completely.
Had a fantastic time going thru a few weeks ago! Just the right mix of scare and suspense. Staff was very professional and the actors are clearly well prepared.
It was amazing .... they kinda told me i smelled ... but its whatever ig ... it was fun, i thought it was gonna be corny, whack and low budget, but it wasn’t. it was fun and well done. i would definitely come back again :D
Amazing scares! I havent jumped in years and this is the best group Ive seen! What a great cast! I love everything!
My first year as a performer. Everyone has offered me advice and encouragement, from the owner to security, makeup, and fellow actors. Ive never had more fun at work! I am looking forward to many years as a scary monster for the Haunted Horde.
Before I begin, I am not one who goes to haunted houses to get scared. I do, however, enjoy going there for the creepy, and the details.I went with a fairly large group (about 8 of us) so, we went in two groups of four. The wait is decent, but its expected for something that attracts this much attention. The cost is fairly good for the amount of time it takes to go through everything. It has defining themes, and the level of detail that goes into everything is fantastic. In the hospital area, there is a room that has hundreds (thousands?) Of syringes hanging from the ceiling, and it looks like needles are pointing down at you. That kind of work was creepy and I loved it.For the people that are complaining about the wait, you cannot put that on something that is so popular, that they have a backup of attendees. I love what they do, and hope they continue to provide this fantastic experience for many years to come.-Josh
It was amazing. I fell over a couple of times from how scary it was. But I would recommend going it was awesome.
The costumes and sets per area are amazing and well thought out. If you get panic attacks or have a severe heart condition then I dont recommend going. But if you get scared easily, good luck!
I loved this place it was awesome they did a great job with everything but the actors are a lil to touchy
We had so much fun! We were laughing and screaming through the whole thing! The attention to detail was impressive. 10/10 would go again!
An extremely fun and exciting environment! My fiancee and I have been to many haunted houses and places like this and not once was I startled.Ive been to The Haunt twice before (before the new owners) and Id say it was great, for kids.New owners came in and completely 180 the name and atmosphere! Already cant wait for next year! Highly recommend!! Worth the wait!
Loooongest wait times EVER! It is pretty much a constant line. Lots of waiting on your feet so wear good comfy shoes. Make sure you will NOT need to use the bathroom for atleast a couple of hours. The attractions are pretty awesome though, great actors and lots of scenes. Not so sure it is worth $25/ticket though. Just saying.
