There is an endless amount of things to do here inside and out. Each floor has so much to see, touch, hear, play with, all while learning. Outside there are tons of trails and opening on April 1st there is a train that you can ride throughout the property and see everything outdoors. My 5 year old son who is typically very shy had a blast!

What the heck is going on with the management of the EcoTarium????It was such a great place but over the past several months, it has gone straight downhill. Nothing to do with the Covid situation, either. Their staff was always wonderful and they used to look like they were happy to be there. Now theres been so many layoffs of their best people, and it seems as if they dont trust the ones who remain, to do a good job. Please explain!

Great science/nature museum and outdoor exhibits and trails. My six year old and three year old both loved the exhibits, particularly getting to play outside. Make sure you buy your tickets to ride the train early in the day, even if you want to ride later... We missed out on it because it was sold out.

Wonderful place to take the kids. There are so many places to explore and see. We went near the end of winter and spent most of our time inside. Our toddler had fun running from exhibit to exhibit. Our 8 year old was more into the sciences. Our 5 year old loved building and the hands-on activities. We spent a bit of time outside before we left.and they would have loved to be there during the summer. A lot of exploring can be done outside.

Definitely a great place to take kids. I would say its that Childrens Museum with a special emphasis on science. We took our 3 year old there, and there was plenty for her to do. But I would see the best age would be 8 and up. The activities push at motor and cognitive skills that really teach science concepts. I loved it as an adult!

Fun but expensive. This was my first time. Took our 3 year old and he had a great time. Many of the educational things were above his head. But he still enjoyed it. They were working on some renovation and the playground was unusable. The place isnt very big, we spent 3 hours there and that includes going for a hour walk around the pond (we tried to get from lower lot to upper but the path was blocked due to renovation, there was no warning sign)With that said they are overpriced! Regular admission is definitely a rip off. Lucky we went to our library before hand to get a pass discount. There simply isnt enough there to warrant their prices. Also if you are going to charge high admission the train right and planetarium movie should be included.PS if you are going mid week. Beware of the massive amount of kids from field trips.

A perennial favorite in our house. Always exciting. Gets the kids close to the action. Love the explorer train and outdoor area. I was there this past Sunday and it was grand BUT wish I had gone in the summer. I did not know they had a large outdoor portion. This museum is great for most kids 3 and up. It is very hands on and the staff are wonderful and pleased to answer questions. There are indoor animals (small) and out door animals including a mountain lion family and a red fox. I had never seen a mountain lion family before. The highlight was the planetarium. There were only 4 of us in the room so the speaker was able to tailor her talk to us. It was very very cool. I had never been an audience member in an indoor planetarium. Enjoy. ps there is a small cafeteria so you can get snacks and healthy lunch items, plus, drinks of course.

A hands on science museum. Kids get to interact with various exhibits that have to do with the earth and the world around them. They did have some animals, it was rather limited because of the season. It did have snack bar in the cafe. Plenty of restrooms around the building. The museum was very neat and clean. The planetarium movie was very nice. This museum would be better in the nicer, warmer weather when you can enjoy the outdoor activities, its limited in winter months.

This was my first time visiting. The inside reminds me of the old Acton Discovery Museum before they redid it, which is a very good thing. Lots of science oriented interactive exhibits indoors, as well as a planetarium.Outdoors, they have several really cool animal exhibits; foxes, eagles, giant owls, and a really awesome river otter habitat with an aquarium style glass viewing area. Watching them swim and come up to the glass to get a look at us was one of my favorite things there.Another big attraction for kids is the miniature train ride. Our daughter loved it, but the route takes two passes through the same tunnel, and its dark and rather long. They tell the kids to basically yell in the tunnel and listen to their own echo, so yeah the yelling and the dark tunnel was not a good combo for our little one year old, it scared her. Otherwise she loved the train ride. All in all an amazing asset for the community, an amazing resource and opportunity for fun for parents and educators alike. This is truly a top tier facility, and if you have kids maybe like 11 and under, you owe it to them to bring them here.

Wonderful!! I have an almost 3 year old and 4 1/2 year old and it was great for both of them. The inside exhibits are interactive and fantastic for kids up to maybe 6-7 years old. Outside, there are animals to see but also a big playground area. Climbing netting is included in this outdoor area. It was worth the money for us because its hard to find places at this age where itll keep my girls entertained for more than an hour. We will come back for sure.

Short and sweet at the ecotarium. Exotic animals must cost a fortune to maintain so unfortunately you wont be seeing many unusual species here. Review №43

The Ecotarium contains many science/nature exhibits in a more relaxed environment than some of the bigger city museums. There is also a lot of outdoor space to explore and enjoy.I do wonder why the otters do not appear to be rescued animals, but bred in captivity. As captivating as they are, I cant condone their upbringing apart from their natural habitat, even if they are treated well. They are clearly very social, interacting with most passersby. The train ride around the grounds is cute and a big hit with the little kids. It is a lesson in patience to wait in line to be let on... could be done more efficiently. The absolute best part of the Ecotarium grounds is the playground, which is more of a natural play space including a brook that kids can play in. Ditch the shoes, bring the sunscreen, and any kids can easily spend a couple of hours here.Indoors consists of a few floors full of interactive exhibits for all ages. And the gift shop wont disappoint.

We love the EcoTarium. It seems so small and cozy until you see it through the eyes of a child. We have never seen or done everything in one visit. Its just not possible. There is playground equipment and an immense sandbox outside, streams, ponds, walking trails, and animal exhibits outside (ie. Otters, mountain lions, owls, eagles, hawks and more!). Inside animal exhibits with many turtles, frogs, birds, Guinea pigs, a tide pool and more. Interactive exhibits that children of any age can find something to attract their interest and a preschool area for the youngest ones. The EcoTarium is a Worcester treasure and a great place to go to inspire interest in nature and science.

Non-member pricing is a little steep, HOWEVER they have many discount offers available (senior citizen, military, student, ebt card holders etc) that make it very affordable. Its cute, great for kiddy winks.Adults will probably like some of the animals on display, especially the otters. Your lame kids will not appreciate them as much as you.The high winds simulator is pretty fun, but itll mess up your sweet do; if youve been on a windy beach or up a mountain during a gust youve felt worse. On the plus side you can throw your annoying children in there for a few precious seconds and get them away from you.Very educational, young children will probably love it, after 12 years old I think the vast majority will feel bored quickly, which is there want, silly billys that they are.

Ours was the space themed program and the planetarium was a great space to learn interesting facts about our solar system. The staff also engaged the kids with great activities (including an egg drop!) and there was plenty of time to explore this very interactive museum. It was a great space to sleepover as well - our family slept near the turtles and opossum, others slept in the darkness of the Africa room, and those who preferred more like slept near more open spaces. It is pretty pricy as a one time visit, but if you are local, buying a membership is definitely the way to go and it pays for itself with very few visits. Also, the membership gets you free admission or discounts on lots of other childrens museums and science centers. It also gets you a discount on the train and planetarium. Its been worth every penny for us!My 4 year old loves both the indoor and outdoor exhibits. Since we are local, we often go for short visits at times that are not very busy. All the animals on exhibit are rescues, meaning that they are not able to live in the wild.We had our sons birthday party here twice and had a great experience both times.I would say that the exhibits are geared toward the younger crowd. Once they hit middle school its probably not as interesting. We usually bring our own food if we will be at the Ecotarium during a mealtime.
