Its a very fun place with stuff from the space race to a room themed as a 1950s diner. Its really great for kids, with multiple interactive items, and great for adults, so you can learn more about our great town.
Friendly staff, well organized place in general.
The museum is relatively small, but there is a lot of stuff packed in, particularly in the room filled with all the industries that have called Worcester home throughout the years. We also drove the short distance to the Salisbury Mansion (part of the museum). The tour we got was a little rushed as it was the end of the day, but the guide was incredibly knowledgeable and it was both fun and interesting.
Awesome experience and fantastic to learn some things about the area!Great for post lunch afternoon activity. Anyone from Worcester County should go see it - only takes about 1-2 hours to go throughMore enjoyable than Boston Science Museum! It’s quick, sweet, and a great experience.
Great place to gather with family and friends.
There was an exhibit called 50 Objects as well as a photography exhibit of Worcester Center that just amazed me. Time flew by wandering from room to room. I remarked to my companion that I enjoyed this museum more than my recent visit to The Smithsonian. I believe that is because the local history was so relevant to me and gave me the opportunity to appreciate just how rich and diverse this city has become over the years.
Amazing place to learn about the local history but some facilities were not well-maintained and staffs were not friendly.
We went for Patriot’s Day today to see John Hancock and his trunk. We were so pleased with our visit! Hancock and all of the rest of the staff were outstanding and interacted with our kids showing them all of the highlights. The exhibits are engaging and there are kid friendly areas. Such a great visit!
Fascinating exhibits, artifacts & library - about Worcester’s history; what made it special previously, providing context for what’s ahead!
What an amazing local museum. Ive lived in Worcester all my life and learned so much about our city from spending an afternoon here with a close friend. There was an exhibit called 50 Objects as well as a photography exhibit of Worcester Center that just amazed me. Time flew by wandering from room to room. I remarked to my companion that I enjoyed this museum more than my recent visit to The Smithsonian. Perhaps because the local history was so relevant to me and gave me the opportunity to further appreciate just how rich and diverse this city has become over the years. They have one room that is really suitable for younger children. I loved the cash register that you could push a button and the price for a cup of coffee would be displayed. They had three different pay phones mounted on a wall that showed the progression of the phone over the years. I also liked the jukebox that allowed me to hear different music from artists that were from Worcester.I also found a Triple Decker poster that Ive been searching for since the early 90s that was for sale in the small gift shop. There was a lovely lady who provided us with free tickets to visit The Salisbury Museum and she also gave me a contact for their library collection so that I could do some research on a topic that has interested me over the years. There is an upstairs that we didnt visit, but was told there is a small Harvey Ball display on that floor.I loved this museum so much that Im considering becoming a member. If you have the time, I recommend a visit to the Worcester Historical Museum.
Worcesters history, and the stories of its sons and daughters, is lovingly preserved here. Smallish facility, but great ambition. No other place compares in comprehensiveness to the museums library and archives. Director William Wallace is himself a walking encyclopedia.
A very nice museum!!! Super friendly staff and some very unexpected fun interactive exhibits for children. Great job Worcester Historical Museum!
We visited the new Alden Family Gallery on Weds, the week of the opening. The kids had so much fun were going back tomorrow. My kids ages are 1, 3, 6, 8 and 11 and they all had fun.
Dropped the ball on the 50th anniversary of Apollo exhibit - quite disappointing.
Great for the family.. lots to look at .. But little guidance
Excellent resource for Worcester history!
If you are from or live in Worcester you should check this place out if for no other reason than to get ammo for all the times people ask you why you live in Worcester.
It looks like a school
