We did a 10 plus mile starting at Jericho Turnpike all the way up to the Cold Spring Harbor trailhead and back. Fairly easy trail with many tree roots and easy hills. Great to have something like this so close to home. If youre looking for more of a challenge you will have to travel off of Long Island.
This hiking trail is beautiful. It takes you from complete openness to becoming completely forest like . There are moderate hills and many roots on the trail. So maybe if you arent sure footed it may be a bit of a challenge. But it is quiet and peaceful. There is a separate trail for bikes-which is great.
DO NOT BRING DOGS HERE. We brought 2 dogs and both of them had 3 ticks on them each. We stayed on the path. I just wanted to let everyone else know before they come here. Be safe.
Nice, easy hike, but please be cautious about ticks, especially if you want to bring your dog along to the Southern Trail, which we do not recommend.
I love this place. Because very comfortable trail. Also not to far from my house.
This is a gem of a trail, we did the circular route from the parking lot, following the blue blazers until we reached a huge tree in an open space and then we took the white trail back to the parking lot. About 1.5 hours total. Very easy walking and gorgeous scenery. I was nervous about ticks and kept our dog on the path rather than let him wander into the grass.
Not sure of why its called a park.I would absolutely call it a forest.
Totally amazing! This place has so many trees, perfect for the summer, and not many slippery paths. I hated the fact that theyre building a house on it, choose another place, please! We ️ nature!
Long and narrow park that only has two hiking/biking paths. If youre looking for a quick and easy hike this could still work for you. I felt limited knowing that park ends just 50 feet to the right and left. Park also has ticks and lime disease warnings posted. The paths are not paved so if it rains it could get dirty. Some people in mountain bikes seemed to be enjoying this mildly challenging trail.
Nice trail. Good for running and light hiking.
Not too many people and quiet. But no bathroom.
Easy path semi flat with a few hills
Nice tree canopy shaded trails, biking and walking trail ...not too big just enough for exercise or walk with the nature trail. limited parking . no facilities just a tire inflator and some picnic bench tables.
Very nice place to bike and walk.
Had a good ride. Bike trail could use a bit more marking but overall a good experience.
This is one of my favorite places. Starting at the trailhead by Stop & Shop, I go north to the big open Stillwell field and back. It is a perfect 1 hour+ hike with ascents and descents and a nice flat breather in the middle. Shady, then sunny, then shady again. Well traveled trail. Follow the White blazes for the foot Trail.
Beautiful scenery. Lots of hills!
Fun for a light stroll. Quick, short, easy breezy trails.Beware bicycles.
Great trail, could use some extra cleaning though. There was garbage along the trail at come points and the trail was a bit grown over.
Great spot to go to where you can see plenty of butterfly and tons of birds that nest in the area. Super easy hike that anyone can do which is nice when there are no mountains on Long Island. Goes on for a while.... havent had the chance to fully explore it but will do in the near future. My pup loves it as well.
More of a walk, less of a ‘hike’ definitely can walk it easily. Trail is well maintained and generally free of trash. Plenty of parking.
Beautiful wooded walks. Only thing is signage is unclear about whats a walking trail and whats a biking trail and its pretty narrow for both.
Easy to ride and cleaner than most
Intermediate trial and great workout and beautiful scenary.
Love this leg of the Greenbelt Trail.
Nice for bike riding with the kids!
Nice walk in the woods well preserved land and lots of fun to go and have a walk out in the woods.
Uphill and downhill are properly laid out, so its a fun trail for beginners.
Delightful place to step away from suburbia and into the primeval forest, whether for just a few minutes, or hiking thru on the Nassau-Suffolk trail. And it is handy having a supermarket next door.
Very nice and short trial.
Nice patch of nature here in congested Nassau County. There are 2 trail options which run northward to Stilwell Woods Park. This Park offers a variety of different natural habitats, as well as varying wildlife. In the beginning of the trials you will see lots of Wild Cats, which feed upon food. There are 20-50 Wild Cats at this location...As you continue down the trails, have a fun time spotting a variety of birds, chipmunks, squirells, and insects. There are lots of animals and critters which scavage around these woods. I even saw a group of deers and a dead raccoon. The trails are cozy, great for camping out in the woods and sleeping, or maybe just enjoying a decently warm glass of milk, over the smell of rustic pine trees... I ate scrambled eggs underneath a pine tree. There are only a few Pine trees at this location, toward the middle of the park. I came across many small evergreen trees, but only 4 large Pine Trees. I drank milk underneath them, and I even grated cheese and left it on the floor for the deer to eat.Overall, this park is cozy, and a great patch of nature for hiking, exploring, biking, and sleeping or eating, to the sweet aroma of the trees.
Great bike riding and hiking. Extensive trails for bikes, both paved and unpaved. Makes for a nice day with the family.
Great place to hike and bike!
Awesome trail, great walking experience...
A short trail but friendly people and fresh air
Good very pretty
Not marked well. Got lost
Walking in the park was very calming. Lots of tall trees to creat shade and more than enough room in the path for passing bicycles, joggers and everyone else.
Small place I couldn’t walk it as my back acted up .
Great trail for the family. The section between Jericho Turnpike and Sysossot - Woodbury is very easy for kids and babies. Nice walk if you wanna sneak in a small hike between babys nap schedule.Plan on spending 40mins to an hour for a round trip of that section. If you plan on coming here during warmer months, bring insect repellent for the ticks and mosquitoes.
Its great, but its kind of a short trail. Its a very easy trail.
An exhilarating hike if you need a bit of exercise. Trails are well kept gets a big muddy though. Otherwise just the woods behind a bunch of houses.
Cool suburban hideaway and easy yet interesting trails
Love it ! I just walked it in the rain ! Even better
Nice area to walk and explore
Nice quiet trail. Could be better kept
Nice and clean trails !
I love hiking through here. Its especially peaceful during the weekdays when theres rarely anyone else here.
Very serene and peaceful
Great for hiking and bicycle
Connecting stillwell and bethpage park....miles and miles of hiking and mtb riding....not too difficult so is good for all types of riders
Love this trail! Came here pretty much weekly for a few months while I was in the area, and it definitely is a great place to come for a short-distance hike in your free time. Its a very peaceful place, and it gets the most attention on weekends, so if you want to come when its clear and quiet, its probably best to show up in the early mornings or on a weekday if possible. The hills can be somewhat steep in my opinion, so if youre bringing the family, keep that in mind where children are concerned. But all in all, its a great trail for a quick hike, and a great place for dog walking as well. Highly recommended
Awesome for trail running
Great Hiking Trail
Beautiful place to hike
Excellent hike for the area. Can go for however long you want
Love It. Went with my fitness coach
Great for jogging or walking.
I love the hotdog cart there! T.J.s hotdogs.
Starting adjacent to Stop & Shop on Jericho Turnpike, this park contains a long narrow pair of natural trails, easily hiked, that run through an unexpected wilderness hidden within a very developed surburban setting. From the trail, most developed areas, including homes, are largely unseen. The forest is filled with the sound of animals, mostly birds, which are occasionally visible. The northern end leads you to a road that must be crossed to continue to its end.
Nice place to walk my dog
Good to run or bike but trails interrupted by roads constantly.
I love trailview and all the other local trails. I cant get enough of them. Theyre all a great workout.
Best trail in the world for local travelling
I love hiking so it was good for me.
Great trail all year round. In the winter its beautiful and icy, which can make it little more slippery. And the middle of the summer its just the right amount of hot but very buggy. Aim for doing this there and back trail in the spring or fall.
Since they paved a walking path, this trail is terrific. Walkers have a place as do bikers on their dirt trail. Its a nice path thru open and wooded areas. Well maintained
Trees in this Forrest give you oxygen. Very friendly customer service
It was great. the trails were well kept. I went there for bird watching and it was awesome. I saw lots of warblers and some regular favorites like the Blue Jays, the Robins and the Cardinals. Great place to go walk/Hike and clear your mind.
A short hike with minimal inclines and declines. Be sure to follow the white trail markers. If you are on the blue marked path, there are mountain bikers on this path. Overall a good short hike for beginners. You can continue on to other trails further north but they tend to be more complex.
Nice
Great trail that stretches miles. It is possible to start at the beach and take the trail up North past the expressway, almost completely removed from the suburban communities bordering it. If you choose to start at the beach, you can follow a path to Cedar Creek Park and then head North through town until you meet up with the Massapequa Preserve. Once in the Preserve, you can follow a path straight up to Bethpage Park. The main trail is great for walking, jogging or biking and there is also a hiking trail which offers a more challenging adventure. Several swans take residence here along with ducks and geese. The atmosphere makes it feel as if you are upstate and it is easy to forget that you are in the middle of one of the biggest suburbs in the Country.
A fun place to get some fresh air
Nice trails
Good for hiking. Challenging for biking. Not recommended for teaching kids how to ride a bicycle.
Great for low grade hiking. Not many facilities or sceneries.
Plenty of convenient parking very close to the trailhead mountain biking and hiking trails alongside each other but separate its good for mountain biking and hiking you could go north or south on the North Trails are a little more difficult than the South
Good trail for a beginner, beautiful scenery.
Nice place for somewhat hilly walk, great exercise
Great energy.
A peaceful, tranquil place. Highly recommend !
First time here, did 3 miles of it. And it was great. Nice uphill sections, good clear trails. There is a bit of garbage problem at some points but that happens when youre in a residential area. I would recommend this trail,I plan on doing the whole thing during summer
Great place to go on a family hike
Great hiking and biking trails. Definitely scenic routes but well maintained.
