There needs to be more places to fish besides the pier but other then that it’s a great place to visit that we saw we were just there for fishing but I liked what I saw minus there weren’t many places to fish from the shore

Great place to walk. 7 mile trail is beautiful and a good workout. I do it 3 to 4 times a week when I have the time.

Beautiful facility. I am amazed at how well done and beautiful the improvements are. Soap box moment: Take a trash bag with you if litter bothers you. Some of those who use the trails dont know where trash is supposed to go. Watch out for bikes whizzing from behind with not warning to startle you.We had a wonderful morning there.

Beautiful trail! Perfect for a long run. The soft gravel was much better than the paved trails I usually run on. We used this while training for a half marathon.

It was a beautiful day for a leisurely bike ride. One of the best paths for leisurely biking in the area that is more then 2-3 miles with just a few hills we have to walk up. Husband has a bad back and heart issues so he cannot over do it but still likes to ride his bike and stay active.

Seven mile loop around the lake is very scenic. I really enjoy going there.

Loved renting a kayak here! Its only $4 per kayak per hour. Call ahead of time for wait times though. Going during the weekend (unless you get there close to the 7am opening time) you will have to expect waiting an hour before being able to go out on the lake.Parking is easy to find. The walking/ biking trail is really close by as well as the playground. Water fountains are accessible near the playground bathroom. Dog are also welcome! Ive seen people take their dogs on the boat rentals.

Nice updated place to bring family, friends,etc. There is a play area for kids. Rental boats or you can use your own boat. Fishing from the peer. Excellent new building with restrooms and all your rental and fishing needs. Trails for walking which the trail goes from the main office at the dock to Linville road and back round trip and biking. Its also pet friendly so you can walk your dogs as well. Has nice updated parking. Staff is really friendly and helpful with any questions anyone may have. It is wheelchair and handicap friendly also. Thanks

Beautiful place to hike and fish

I went here to run for the first time. There is an approximately 7 mile lap around the lake that is beautiful. The trail is a very wide dirt track that is well maintained and overall flat (just small rolling mini hills mostly). The trail enjoys views of the lake all around it. There is a center there which has bathrooms, water fountains and the ability to buy snacks. Also the staff there were super helpful with answering some questions!! They are knowledgeable and kind! I highly recommend the lake for a good run or walk!

Went to Salem lake to put my kayak in the water staff there is very good I had a great time.They have fishing kayak and boat rentals they even have a place for weddings and events and things like that too. Including a jogging and biking trail all the way around the lake really a great place to go and enjoy the outdoors

The new marina building with its meeting space is so very nice. Theyve done a great job with the upfit. Trails are well maintained as well and they have a lot to be proud of. Restrooms and parking lot at the entry are nice too. The bike repair station is well done and an unexpected plus. Seven mile loop trail is flat -- walkers/joggers and bikers co-exist well. Just be sure to exit the parking are before the gates close.

If you like walking, running, biking, or fishing you should visit this place. We like to walk down to the Creek by the bridge and get our feet wet.

A great place to kayak and fish. They also have a dozen ducks that are always in and about and eternally hungry. A great place to trek and cycle.

Be sure to call ahead before visiting if you plan to rent a kayak. They told me weekdays during the day were the best time to rent but I hardly ever have that kind of time. The service desk employee was a bit snippy but you cant beat the price of those kayak rentals.

Rented kayak there to went well spent $7 for two hrs on the yak.! Bass fight hard ima tell u that.! Can’t post pics of the bass I caught sorry I’m trying.

If you live in Winston Salem and dont know about Salem Lake, you are missing out. It is wilderness access without the hassle or expense. Even if you dont fish, hike, run or bike, its beautiful and inspiring. Bring your phone and take pictures. Chill on the pier while others fish. Bring a loved one to share Gods beauty with.

Great venue with beautiful views. The hall and patio provide renters flexibility for their events. Parking is plentiful. The building and pier are handicap accessible. The hall includes a top-notch kitchen.

We had our wedding reception here, and while it is a great venue, we had to be out by 9 and that was way to early. If they would stay open until 11 for events like that it would have been 5 stars. We really felt rushed to leave.

Good place for getting outdoors. They recently started charging for using the pier to fish. Fishing from the pier has never been very good in my experience, so probably wont be back for that. Will still visit for the trail though. New parking area provides ample parking space.

Beautiful route around a peaceful lake. Route is mostly easy level terrain but is long and once you get going you feel a little trapped! We saw lots of turtles and cute duck couples. Theres a picnic table in one area near the dam and a few benches on the trail. Park in a designated lot otherwise youre adding quite a bit more distance to the already long route.

I love going here to walk or paddle. Fishing is a little tricky cause its usually packed but the trail is where its at.

Good kayak boat fishing will visit often

Love the new fishing station where you can pay for bait, licenses, permits, and boating or paddle board rentals. Love the cold drinks, ice creams, and snacks as well. Check out the cool fishing pier.

Im not quite sure how well the fishing is at this location but I can almost guarantee there is some good looking fishing holes out there on the lake. I am a runner so I am often running the beautiful and scenic trails of Salem lake. I just wish there were more restroom points around the lake for us older folk and maybe some additional water stations but other than that. Hands down 5 stars

Great place for a bike ride or walk.

Nice Lake, sad that it had to be ruined by unnecessary government oversight and fees to pay for it. I kayaked on this lake before it costed anything and the only difference now is an occasional patrol boat that makes tons of wake for paddle boards and kayaks and scares the fish.

Awesome place to fish, enjoy nature, walk or ride the trail on a bike. Now offering ride share bikes. My family enjoys this park daily.

This place has definitely grown since the last time I stopped by, in my teenage years. Beautiful playground, bike trail/walking trail, kayaks, great place to take you dog.

Nicely kept up with friendly staff. The only thing I would add would be trolling motors for the jon boat rentals and more bank fishing opportunities.

Ok but didnt catch any fish

We arrived at Salem Lake Fishing Station and went inside to attempt to rent kayaks. Both man and woman at the front desk were extremely unhelpful in telling us they didn’t start renting out kayaks until the next day and then proceeded to directly ignore us when we asked what were our other options were to enjoy our time there. We ended up renting a jon boat because it was our only option to which we found were all extremely dirty and not well kept. They gave us two different size oars that were splintering and old. When we returned (shortly after renting because of a storm) they made several sarcastic and smart remarks, and when we mentioned the different shaped/sized oars and the conditions of everything they only continued to respond with sarcastic and smart remarks. I am not one to leave bad reviews but both individuals working at the front desk were ridiculously rude and do not deserve a job that requires customer service if you cannot even speak kindly to another human.

Always informative and courteous staff. Beautiful new clubhouse. Great boat ramp access. Wonderful experience whether pier fishing, launching a boat or borrowing a Jon boat.

Person in charge is never available. Very pricey venue to rent, but cannot use lake for anything but fishing, each individual must buy a license. Terrible acoustics, very difficult when working with large groups, no refrigerator, no computer system for use of PowerPoint, no audio system. The lady who works in the office is fantastic. Would never use venue again.

Incredible new facility. This place will become a staple of my familys getaways. There is amole parking, public bathrooms with a family bathroom, there will soon be a bait shop on site, a pier for fishing or strolling, a porch that wraps around the outside and is adorned with rocking chairs, and boats to rent. It is also within walking distance of the park, so when my son gets bored of not catching fish, he can go play on the slide.

Great facilities, very well kept trails and reasonably priced rental rates. Animal and bike friendly.
