This museum provides room and great atmosphere for viewing and absorbing the exhibits. This is the old Hanes house that the family donated to be an art gallery. But the grounds are great for walking, with trails and even a pond to picnic/mediate near. The large white extension you see first is the entrance. ENJOY!

Great place to bring all ages. I have 2 boys under 14 that absolutely loved roaming around the gallery. Very open and kid friendly. I have been going there since I was 12 and always amazed at the different types of art they have...always something to keep you interested and coming back for more. They also have a family art day on Saturdays. Check out their website. Im sure you wont go away disappointed. Thank you

The building is lovely. Tucked away in a nice, wooded neighborhood. The staff, and director, were kind and helpful. They love what they do and it shows. Also, staying abreast of everything going on in the community, and collaborative efforts in the city. That was a joy to see.

The theater was nice and spacious without being overly large. Could still hear play without a problem, even though sitting in row H. Plus the stadium seating was comfortable. Truly enjoyed my first time watching a live play.

This is one of the great benefits living in Greensboro, the parks and trail you can go to see. I love the varieties of plants, trees and flowers that all have signs and labels. The fountain, the gazebo, the biggest chimes, the sages under the big trees and all the benches are so perfect to sit down and just relax.

I didnt get to fully explore as much as I would have liked due to my own time constraints however what I was able to see was very nice. Ill definitely be back.

The art itself is tasteful and showcased however the staff is mixed. The woman at the front desk was very helpful and kind... However, once I made it to the exhibit Furnished, the older woman working there would not stop following me around and staring at me. It made me feel super uncomfortable and honestly rushed- very disappointing. Once I made my was back to the exhibit in the room next door she STILL continued to STARE at me through the window.I left after that, couldnt take it anymore. Wish I could have seen more and had the opportunity to enjoy my trip.

Wow! We had an amazing experience at the Southeastern Center for Contemporary Art. It started with the drive through a lovely, wooded residential area that had us wondering if we were on the right track. Then we arrived, and were pleasantly surprised by the setting and the buildings that house SECCA. I had expected a much smaller space. But center has done a great job of marrying the old and the new with its contemporary addition to an old mansion donated by the Hanes family. My only regret is that we did not get to see more of the mansion itself.

Free is nice. But, they have interesting exhibitions that I would be willing to pay for. They dont charge for parking, which is also nice. I make a point of seeing what they have going on when Im going to be in W-S.Their only disadvantage is that you do have to drive away to get food before or after your visit.

I took the opportunity to purchase tickets for the Old Salem Cristmas Carol. I found it charming enjoyable and funny. Its was a great way to celebrate the holiday season and put you in a good mood. The volunteers set out high quality refreshments and wine or punch. There were children there and it held their interest. Look forward to the next one.

SECCA, housed in the historic Hanes mansion, has quite a history itself. Once a source of controversy, it has since been wrapped into the embrace of the NC museum system. Nevertheless, it still provides some cutting edge and cutting commentary like the current Lonnie Holley show. Unlike many museums, they have been featuring local artists as well. Sam the dot man Drew a large audience. Thoughtful shows that dont overwhelm.

What a Great theater venue, we went to see a Christmas Carol, nice great acoustics, stage floor could use some dampening, but otherwise what a nice place. Lobby is somewhat small for intermissions, needs a few benches along the walls for more seating during intermissions.

Great place thats frequently changing exhibits which keeps it fresh. Often has dance troupes, acrobatics, and various presentations. Definately worth checking out every week or so to see whats on the lineup. Plus, for the minimal fee, you cant beat it.

They shoved an LGBTQA exhibit behind a trash can. Overall the place was decent, but they literally disrespected the one exhibit I was there to see and while observing it I was asked to move out of the way so that they could replace a trash bag which was an art piece designed by a Trans artist that they shoved directly behind the trash can.

Almost impossible for disabled to use. Handicap parking is long distance from entrance. No drop off possible. Stairs in auditorium are extremely steep and have no handrails of any kind.If using crutches or wheel chair, dont bother coming to events at auditorium.Worst venue in Winston Salem for disabled access.

Very cool gardens and getting a tour of the house was very cool and informative, honestly better than the reynolda house when it is in conjunction with the amazing gallery. They always have fun activities where you can rexperience the art first hand. The curation of the gallery is always top notch. The Cubans exhibit were especially great with the clothing donations from Winston-Salem residents made into pillows. The group contributions made the piece especially impactful. Its close proximity to the reynolda village makes for a really fun day trip when the weather is good. All the staff is very kind, love this place.
